I have found the Alvar projector to be fantastic addition to my home entertainment setup. The picture quality is superb, and the built-in speakers provide clear and immersive sound. The auto focus and keystone correction features make it incredibly ease to set up, and the wireless connectivity options are a huge plus. Overall, I highly recommend the Alvar projector for anyone looking to enhance their home entertainment experience. Its combination of excellent picture quality, modern features, and ease of use make it a great value for the price.

Bought this projector with plans to use it primarily for outdoor movie nights this year. Pictures show tests of the video quality when the projection size is about 100” and 200” under various media and lighting conditions. I have been thoroughly impressed with how well it performs. The video quality is very nice and respectably clear. The Dolby Audio speakers are also pleasantly powerful. The fan is noticeable when there is no sound but once you start watching something it pretty much fades into the background. My friends and I decided that for movie nights we would most likely still use our own sound equipment but for any outdoor watch parties for sporting events the internal Dolby speakers would be more than sufficient. The auto focus feature is very nice but I did find myself having to do only the slightest manual adjustment from time to time afterwards in a few of my test runs. But that only takes all of 2 seconds with the remote to do the finishing adjustment if it’s even necessary. The pre-loaded apps; Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Video; I was able so use with no issues. However when I tried downloading Hulu and Disney+ from their “App Store” I was unable to get the apps to open properly. Thankfully, the projector comes with 2 x hdmi ports and a usb port so I just plugged in my Roku stick to use its apps instead and this solution worked fine. I did not try the Bluetooth feature in either direction so I cannot speak to how well that performs. Also it does not come with a protection cover for the lens when not in use so be mindful of that. Overall, for the features and the quality that you get at this budget-friendly price point it is truly a great projector. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and hope it lasts a long time with no issues.

Projector has excellent picture and sound, which are the two most important things in my view. Setup was very easy and it also has decent connectivity options as well. As for cons, the Bluetooth and screen mirror options worked for the most part, but were not as easy or intuitive as expected. Also, the ability to download additional apps or access media online is extremely limited. Overall, very good projector for my purposes and is recommended.

Click to play video I finally upgraded to a 4K projector for our family room. I've been using an old mini projected the last several years that really lacked working well in bright rooms. After reading reviews and doing quite a bit of research, I went with the Alvar 4K Projector. I couldn't believe how amazing the video is! I tested it in our family movie room where there's plenty of light at 3PM in the afternoon and the video was great! I remember trying to watch the Super Bowl last year around 3PM and my video was so faint. I couldn't believe how well I was able to see the videos. Of course, the video is much better in the dark but I am truly surprised at how well I can watch something in the bright afternoon now. The auto adjustment for focus, keystone, and avoiding obstacles features are game changers! I no longer need to manually adjust the picture! Although it has wifi 6 capabilities, I didn't connect it nor use the built in Netflix or other streaming applications because I prefer my Roku Streaming stick. The power brick is a bit on the larger side but doesn't bother me since I'm using a tripod tray. It may require an extension cord for folks mounting the project from ceilings though. My projector sits on a tripod tray about 12 feet away from the wall and at a height of 5 feet. It's now able to project a 121 inch diagonal video! Compared to my old projector, this new project projects a video is about 15 inches wider, when measured diagonally! I uploaded a few pics and a video: Sponge Bob photos - the faint one was taken at 3PM, the vivid one was at 9PM. The football video and image shows how clear the pictures are. This project is hands down the best in terms of picture quality, contrast, and color especially in brighter rooms. If you're in the market for a new 4k projector, you can't go wrong with this one! I highly recommend this model and brand.

let me start by saying there's a feature they don't show in the listing and I should have taken a short video of it for you. It has a zoom feature. It's done in the setup menu and controlled by the remote. It starts at 100% and you can make the image smaller in 1% steps down to 50%. Why should that matter? let's say you have the projector in a spot where you can't move it, on a wall or suspended from the ceiling. You set everything up, have the screen on the wall and turn it on. The picture bleeds off the edge of the screen you have set up. So without the zoom feature, you have to move something to fit the screen properly. With it, you just use the remote, sit in your chair and adjust the picture size to fit the space. So easy and a feature they really should mention because it's key to a good viewing and setup experience. Now on to my review.... This is the 4th projector I have had and I have now found the one I want. Great features and very good picture quality with decent sound from the machine plus Bluetooth for a soundbar etc. I like the apps that are loaded in a similar way to having them on my Android tablet. Super bright and sharp, at 1000 ANSI lumens, it's bright in rooms or outdoors (not in direct or bright sunlight), the image is quite good. The sound is also impressive, thanks to dbx-tv’s Total Sonics tech, which gives you a good audio experience. Preloaded with Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and over 7,000 (so they say, I haven't tested that number) other apps ready to go, so no need for extra devices. With its 30W HiFi speakers and Dolby Audio, you get immersive sound without needing external speakers but I added a soundbar and that is still the best way to get the full sound experience. The projector supports 4K at 60Hz, so the picture quality is top-notch. With HDR10+ and 100% NTSC, the colors are vibrant, and the contrast is very good, making everything look super realistic. Auto features – The auto focus and auto keystone correction are a huge plus. Within reason on a flat surface, no matter where you place the projector, you’ll get a sharp, aligned image. It also has auto obstacle avoidance, so it keeps the image on-screen even if something is in the way. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2,so you can easily mirror your phone screen onto the 50-300" display. The two-way Bluetooth lets you use the projector as a speaker or connect it to other Bluetooth devices like speakers or headphones without lag. You can mount this projector on the ceiling, tabletop, or wall, so it fits whatever setup you need. It also has plenty of connection options, including 2 HDMI ports, USB, and a headphone jack, making it compatible with gaming consoles, streaming devices, laptops, and more. Easy control with touchpad and remote – It comes with a touchpad that lights up for easy control, and the Bluetooth/Infrared remote is super responsive. Makes operating the projector really smooth and simple!

It works well. Obviously, you'll want to connect it to a good set of speakers, as the speaker it comes with sounds a bit tinny. The definition is good. I don't know how it would fare outside, as I've only used it indoors, in a dark living room. I also haven't used it for gaming. For anime, it was great, with good colours and contrast. However, most of the streaming services it offers are a bit lacking. True, you do get Netflix and Amazon Prime. But unless you subscribe to your channels through Amazon Prime, you won't find stuff like Crunchyroll or Shudder on there. This was a bit of a disappointment. You can always plug in a Chromecast or Roku drive, I guess?

Right off the bat, the usability gets 5 stars. The projector really does all the work and the app and settings menus are super simple to use. Fan noise is lower than on my smaller 1080p projector and the resolution is clearly better. I haven't tested 4K video just yet, but all the 1080p content I've played works flawlessly. Unfortunately, there's only one little screw knob on the front underside for tilt and it's kinda cheap. The lens also doesn't come with a cap which was a bit of a surprise since it's always good to have one for storage. Nevertheless, none of the components came scratched or damaged out of the box so that's a plus. Although the initial settings include an auto-focus adjustment, as well as every time the projector moves, you can turn it off in the settings and use manual (remote) only. Since everything is basically controlled electronically, the remote is key and it's paired to the projector through Bluetooth (BT), so it doesn't really matter where you point it as long as you're within the BT range. If you turn BT off in the settings, the remote will cease to function. That's just the tech. But if it's a concern, you can always just use the touch-sensitive buttons on the back of the projector. No biggie. As for the inputs, I haven't tested the second HDMI, but both the USB and first HDMI function flawlessly. Super happy they included an HDMI cable too because my supply is limited. Of course, with the on-board decoders, you can play media off of a flash drive directly and there's absolutely no lag in the data stream. Hovering over each thumbnail/file will only play audio though. The in-video options aren't many and are kept pretty simple. You can pause the video at any time and zoom in as well as fast forward through preset increments. There's a memory function too, so if you accidently go back to the files menu and click on the media file again, it'll resume where you left off. A good feature imo. You can access the picture and audio settings at any time of course, even while the video is playing. In terms of the picture, you can choose the picture mode of course (vivid being my favourite), but I strongly recommend using the custom settings because the standard is pretty dim and cinema cuts the brightness while upping the contrast. All the modes keep the same gamma so if you want to play around a bit, definitely go custom. The higher the brightness, the better imo; although it also ups the fan speed. Just be sure to have the projector EXACTLY perpendicular to the wall or screen, otherwise the focus will be off on the nearer side. And a white/ivory background is always best imo. Eggshell will dim some of the brighter colours. Audio actually has a few more options, including a couple dolby outputs and the ability to use a BT device like a speaker or headphones (there's a 3.5mm jack on the projector that I never use). The on-board speakers are actually remarkably good, so you can easily use them for regular television, YouTube and news casts; but once you start watching movies and the fan steps up, the noise can sometimes interfere with the quieter sounds. Personally, I like to run a small soundbar and it works great. Pairing takes about 60 seconds which is longer than most, but remember that it's also always running the remote at the same time. With wifi OFF and running movies from flash, there's negligible audio lag. Basically none. Once you start streaming from your router, while running a BT audio output, that's when it becomes slightly more noticeable. Not by much though. Quite impressed actually. But be aware that you have to crank the audio volume any time you connect to a BT audio source. Not sure why that is, but it's over double than what you need for the on-board sound. Of course, you can always do the reverse and connect to the projector from your phone and run both audio and video out of it, but I really haven't experimented with that option. As for the apps, I've really only been using Youtube and it works just as well as on my LED TV. They're so similar that there's actually little difference. You can't side-load any Andriod apps unfortunately, but I'm not too fussed. Most of my input comes from either YT, flash or IPTV through HDMI. Overall though I have to say that I really dig this thing. The front tilt could've been better of course since it's so cheap, but everything else - from the packaging to the manual, to the power adapter and remote are all great. Ease of use is amazing since everything is done through thumbnails and the only +/- controls are the focus and volume, so it literally takes no extra learning. The fan is relatively quiet, there are 2 HDMI outputs and BT audio has negligible lag. Really good stuff. There are multiple options for mounting of course so you can hang it both in front or behind a screen if you choose. The rest is taken care of by the projector itself. Honestly wasn't expecting something this good, so nearly all of my expectations were exceeded. Full marks so far.

First off I would like to say I think the unit I received could have been a return just for the fact that the lens cover film that in the instruction manual states to remove, was not on the lens. With that out of the way I can say that this is one impressive projector. I know nothing about projectors and ordered this to see what the hype is about them. I can see it now along with some negatives. The positive thing about this is it's movability. I like rearranging my furniture once in awhile. Takes some of the boredom with cleaning. So have a projector that is smaller than a 65" we have, gives me more options lol This projector offers 4K with 1080P/16:9 ratio with pretty good results. I started this review with it being outside as the listing states it can be used outdoors as well as indoors. As you can see the image was after I set up the wi-fi and some settings is not the greatest but it was still light outside and the viewing range was not ideal as I have a small deck and no screen. But even with that, it was good. I did try it indoors, both upstairs and downstairs where it will probably be and on just light grey walls the image was even better that what you see. My husband was even impressed with the image quality that he wanted to run out today and get a screen. Setting up the projector was fast. Connecting it to Bluetooth was as easy as putting in the wi-fi password after choosing my internet provider. Make sure the device you use (phone/tablet are on the same network) and follow the steps. The remote is sensitive so be careful when you do your password. Mine wasn't connecting so I unmasked the password (on the screen keyboard you will see and eye with a line through it) as I must have press a letter twice. Once I saw my mistake going forward was a breeze. Like I mentioned the image quality is very good. The audio I will have to go into the setting for the DBX function as the functions have a 'Total Sonics' that suppose to 'improves sound quality'. You can also hook up an external audio source like a sound bar/ sound system with a HDMI cable. There are 2 HD (high-definition television) ports as well as a USB and headphone jack. It does come with a HD cable, however as this projector is rated for only 'front view', meaning the projector has to be in front of the screen and does not recommend rear view, the HD cable length is too short for the sound system downstairs. I would need a longer one. The speakers on the projector are 30w. The remote that comes with the projector is very responsive as mentioned above and needs 2-AAA batteries that are not included. Overall impressed with the ALVAR 4K projector and what it can do.

I have worked in educational environments where short-throw projectors were 3,000 to 6,000 lumens. I know I don't need that class of projector in the home, but I wasn't sure how good 1000 lumens would be. While the basement is an entertainment area, it does not warrant the expense of a big-screen TV. This is a space for friends and family to gather for meals and games. I also host meetings and training in my home for local charities I volunteer for, mainly due to a lack of quiet or available space in their facilities. I do not need anything more than 1080; it would not be used for watching movies or connecting to game systems. My five-star review considers my application's price, features, and suitability for how I intend to use this projector. I have set this projector up in my walkout basement, and I am constrained to its placement. I will need blackout curtains for a nearby window through which morning sunlight pours. Later in the morning, I do not need the blackout curtains for the rest of the day, but closing the curtains does increase the brightness on my wall, which is painted with a light-coloured matt finish paint, and the type of roller used with the paint provides a texture to the surface that affects the image clarity. I expect that a projection screen would improve the clarity. The wall is 6' 2" long, and the projector is set back 7' 2" at a 19-degree incline. Installation and setup are easy, but make sure you remove the protective tape from the front of the projector before turning it on. This tape covers the sensor for auto-focus and auto keystone, and when the tape is removed, these features work amazingly well. Pairing the remote is easy, but you need to hold down the volume up/down buttons, not just press them simultaneously. Pairing started within 5 seconds or so. This projector supports various apps, but not those I will use for training. I can order another Amazon Firestick that support these apps, or use my laptop with one of the two HDMI ports. The audio is good enough for what I need, and I can connect this to my Bluetooth receiver for the speakers if necessary. The applications are quite slow, but I successfully registered the device to my Amazon Prime account. Overall, this is good for what I need it to do.
