On June 18, 2018, President Donald Trump directed the Pentagon to begin planning for a Space Force: a 6th independent military service branch to undertake missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain.

The U.S. Space Force would be the first new military service in more than 70 years, following the establishment of the U.S. Air Force in 1947. It is the sixth and youngest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The obverse of this round features an intricately detailed scene with Santa Claus reading letters from children all over the world. Santa can be found sitting in his wing-backed chair holding his hot coffee in one hand and a letter in the other sitting in front of a warm fire. The scene includes a fireplace mantel decorated with candles, a Christmas wreath and garland along with poinsettias, gifts and a small tree surrounding Santa on the floor.

The reverse features our standard Christmas back dated "2024" along with the weight and purity designation.

The area designated for engraving is framed in a classic candy cane border with traditional holly and berries centered at the top.
