I love the layout of this book as well as Shawna’s presentation of so much information! The make your own seasoning blends and dressings are really easy ways to add flavor to so many dishes. Her recommendations for budget cooking, taking healthy meals and snacks on the go, and prepping ahead for convenience (!) are really refreshing to see in a “crunchy” cookbook. Also, there are so many nourishing comfort foods and treats — this book is here to convince you healthier eating is practical and family-friendly; it doesn’t mean you have to eat salads every day.

This book bas taught me a different way to cook - a healthier way. All of these meals are fresh, whole foods that work well with my family’s need for no gluten or dairy. I think more in processes now than recipes per se. Like soaking my beans and grains a head of time has become part of the process of making good food. I think of what I'm going to make and how to process the ingredients in steps ahead of time so I am ready to put together a wonderful, healthy meal for my family. We’ve enjoyed all of the recipes I've made so far, but it also includes beat practices tips for your pantry - like a master spice blend to save time in the future. This is a beautiful gift for yourself or others to encourage us to make small changes in our highly processed world to be just a little less toxic.

This book is INCREDIBLE! An actually attainable guide to healthy and delicious cooking for anyone! Not only are there so many amazing recipes but Shawna included SO much valuable information and suggestions for how to run an effective lower-tox kitchen. The information and recipes both are accessible and make sense for day-to-day life. She also includes so many tips and tricks throughout the entire book which is such a great surprise. This book with be a staple in our home and I plan to gift it to everyone I can. It should be a staple in every home. Thank you Shawna for taking the time to write this much needed book for all the people, families, and KIDS out there!

Don’t wait, buy this book today! I tend to keep most recipes filed online these days, but this is one cookbook worth having on hand. Beautiful photos and easy to follow, nutritious recipes fill the pages. The beginning part of the book is loaded with information and tips on choosing the best kitchen tools and essentials to reduce the toxin load in your home. Its full of practical information that won’t overwhelm you on your journey to better health. The recipes give multiple ways to make using slow cooker, oven, instant pot, etc. You won’t be disappointed in this book!

After following Shawna on IG for a while now (@alittlelesstoxic) I knew I HAD to preorder this cookbook! And let me tell you, it was well worth the wait now that I finally got my hands on it. I obviously don’t know her personally, but from what I’ve watched and observed of her she is just genuinely someone you can trust. She’s funny, she’s genuine, she’s honest, and she’s super helpful in regards to making my life and kitchen a little less toxic. Practical advice, easy recipes that are delicious, and best of all I can feel good knowing I am nourishing myself and my family with clean and healthy food! Highly recommend this cookbook!

This cookbook is a simple to follow, wealth of information about cooking real, Whole Foods that nourish our bodies. I trust Shawna’s books and knowledge so deeply and know she has done her research and is not just looking to make a buck. She is honest and kind and this book is such a beautiful testament to her journey. I use it in my kitchen every single week and I am so grateful for the tool that it has become.

I follow Shawna's A Little Less Toxic account and was delighted when she published this cookbook! Since becoming gluten free 4 years ago I have struggled to find lots of recipes that don't have to be altered to fit my lifestyle. Yay for A Healthier Home Cook!! So many good and easy recipes that are a hit with the whole family! I highly recommend you get a copy for yourself and all your favorite cooks!

Shawna’s book “A Healthier Home Cook” is stupendous! First of all, I love that no matter what meal I’m making from her book I know I’m feeding my family a nutritious meal. I love that many of the meals use pantry staples I already have so I’m able to “shop” my pantry thus saving money. The White Bean Chicken Chili is a new favorite of mine. I made it this evening without any meat and it was incredibly delicious! My twin 19 month olds devoured it and I love that I was able to give them protein rich bone broth (which I learned how to make thanks to Shawna). One of the best features is that the book lays flat! I strongly dislike when cookbooks don’t lay flat. Finally, unlike many other cookbooks I’ve bought throughout the years, this is a cook book I’m actually cooking from and will continue to cook from forever. It isn’t wasting space on my shelves like other cookbooks are. Well done, Shawna 👏
