I needed to upgrade an old Intel CPU and decided to switch (back) to AMD. This CPU does NOT disappoint. Great quality, high speed, low power dissipation so no need for liquid cooling and built-in graphics. What more could you want?

I've always wanted to do an SFF build that was just as capable for gaming as well as some creative work, video editing, etc, as my larger rigs. I currently have 2 main systems in the house: Asus Astral 5090 + 9950x3d and 4090FE + 9800x3d, both on larger Lian Li 011D Evo cases with 360 AIO and plenty of fans. Without those extra fans and larger cases, these systems would run hot, especially with the GPUs they were paired with, so I knew I wanted a CPU that would not only run cooler but also more power-efficient. Enter the 9700X. This is my current build and it's a supremely capable and thermally sustainable beast of an SFF build even under heavy 4K gaming loads. 9700X + 5080FE, MSI Mortar mATX mobo, 32gb CL30 Trident Z5 DDR5 6000 expo, Corsair H100i Elite 240mm AIO, and 3 Noctua 120mm low profile Chromax fans (1 intake from rear, 2 intake from bottom) all shoehorned in a tiny Jonsbo(Jonsplus) Z20 case. Passes all thee stress tests, and even at full 4K gaming loads, thermals are amazing for a SFF build with a 5080! At these loads, both the 9700x and the 5080FE temps are in the low to mid 60s, and rarely spikes over 70. These thermals are comparable to my larger builds with only a small sacrifice in performance mainly because the 9700x just can't compete with those X3D chips but can certainly hold its own at a much lower TDP. Gaming performance is amazing as paired with the 5080FE. That said, for me at least, an SFF is the only situation where I think the 9700x makes sense. Price was great and I bought this from amazon for $265. I was originally going to do this SFF build with another 9800X3D but those have not come down from their $480 price yet and I already knew they ran warmer and drew more power, so I'm extremely happy with the 9700x and wouldn't hesitate to use it again on another SFF build. Highly recommend.

good cpu, like it better than my 7700x. Runs cool and faster than my 7700x, I get more fps so i think it was a good upgrade for the price

There's not much to say, if you're looking for something fast and capable, and that doesn't get so hot, this is your choice.

Not bad, good performance with decent pirce. Awesome power consumption, can be subpressed by 120 liquid cooler.

The Ryzen 7 9700X has been a good upgrade for my PC. This 8-core, 16-thread processor delivers a balance of gaming performance and productivity. I can run most games at a consistent 150 FPS. Whether I’m playing graphically intense AAA titles or editing video, everything runs smooth as silk. One of the standout features is its low TDP, which makes it incredibly easy to cool. Even during extended gaming sessions, the temps stay well under 85°C with a standard air cooler. No need for an elaborate cooling setup—it’s efficient and reliable right out of the box. The unlocked design also offers room for tweaking, and I’ve had no issues with stability during overclocking. It’s perfect for gaming, streaming, and even productivity tasks like video editing. If you’re looking for a processor that balances power, efficiency, and value, the Ryzen 7 9700X is an good choice. I couldn’t be happier with its performance

My first AMD processor. Works great. Lots of options here with tuning/clocking. Out of the box encoding handbrake will run about 88Watts with 110FPS super HD mp4 settings. (5x faster than my old i5) It warms up quite a bit so make sure to get a good cooler. Shouldn’t be a problem for gaming. Also I contacted AMD about their warranty program and getting an exchange done and they got back to me in 48 Hours which is extremely comforting. Absolutely happy I made the switch, this processor doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. Benchmarks show it’s 10-15% slower than some of the top CPUs using triple the electricity! Efficient Low power usage and high single core count. No regrets!

(Note: I am running my PC at max 1080P since I do not have hardware capable of 4K Quality.) Powerful CPU paired with a SAPPHIRE PULSE RADEON RX 7800 XT that both communicate very well with, run my games and software at impressively high quality, and overall provide me with a very responsive system. Of course I am running this at 1080P as mentioned in my note but this CPU has been pretty good to me.

I recieved a fake Ryzen 7 7800x processor earlier so I raised a complaint and got the replacement. That fake one is having pins on the back, completely bent and big chunks of dust stuck into them also there is rust on IHS. The box was open from the bottom, tho I got the right one after replacement.

Really powerful but also really efficient. Sips electricity and thus doesn’t get hot, meaning the CPU fans can spin really quietly.

I built my new computer and went with the 9700x. While this CPU has received not the best reviews it's a great CPU. When it comes to gaming the 9700X3D is king followed by the 7800X3D. However, in Canada the prices are so inflated that it ain't worth the additional $150 for the 7800X3D unless you really have money to spend or play competitive. I paired this beauty with an 840P Mainboard that I got on sale for $177. It's a good combo. It has no issues supporting 48GB of 6000Mhz Ram running consistently at 6000 MHz. I'm using my computer for work and gaming. The 9700x is a fast CPU for all sorts of productivity like coding, processing, editing and office work. Gaming performance is great. Paired with RTX 5070 this makes it a great combo. A much faster GPU might lead to bottleneck, but if you pay $2000 for a GPU I'm sure you can afford a better CPU too. I usually prefer Intel and prices for a 14700KF or 265KF Ultra are somewhat similar to the AMD. AMD Mainboards are easily $50-100 cheaper. On top Intel's 14xxx series has up to this day issues with overheating. Compared to the Ryzen 9700X whose performance is slightly below the 14700k it runs very cool and is extremely power efficient. AMD also added two new modes 95W and 105W power mode can be selected in BIOS. AMD extended warranty for higher Watt modes which is very consumer friendly. I went with the 105W for now and paired with a Peerless Assassin 120 it runs at max 75 degrees while gaming. I'm very satisfied with the 9700X. I'm usually an Intel user but AMD delivered here. For someone who had a i5 10600k before it's a big upgrade. An upgrade from a Ryzen 7700x or Intel's 13th gen seems unnecessary as the performance gains are marginal. I understand the X3D hype but the X3D CPUs are consistently slower in productivity yet excel in gaming performance. With overclocking and fast RAM the 9700X gets pretty much the same performance as the 7800X3D for less money. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and the 9700X offers excellent value for money and strikes the perfect balance between gaming and productivity performance.
