This 9950x 16 core 32 thread CPU gives you the best of both worlds. It's excellent for gaming and professional production applications. What's nice is since the initial release, AMD has fixed the latency bug in the newer AGESA Bios updates. This CPU is in all honesty a mini-Threadripper. The 9950x is very efficient and powerful. It's a great long term CPU investment. It's rock solid and the thermals very good.

Great CPU, superfast and not as hard to cool as I thought. 105W eco mode is good enough for most use without losing much performance.

As a Youtube Streamer I am very impressed with this CPU. I recently upgraded to the 9950x AM5 from the 5900x AM4. Of course this also included a new motherboard and ddr5 ram, so cant give 100% of my experience to the cpu but, its a great cpu! Im running this with a 4070ti at 1440p/max high graphics in all games and Im getting 160-200fps in Delta Force, 120-140fps in Rust, 110-140fps in Tarkov, 600-700 fps in Rocket League, 130-160fps in PubG. This is all while running OBS outputting 2 streams in 1440p at 28mbps bitrate, Discord, rgb software for lights, Nvidia Broadcast.. and more. Im running a Lian-Li 360mm aio to cool this beast of a CPU and during gaming/streaming the CPU averages a 57c! My old 5900k using a 260mm aio averaged 67c! I cant relate to people saying it runs hot lol! I mean itll spike here n there during heavier tasks but thats always been normal with Ryzen. Your average temp is what you should pay attention to for long sessions. Just make sure you have an adequete cooler and dont cheap out on it. I am very happy with the overall upgrade and having the 9950x powering the entire system! This is honestly the 1st time I have ever upgraded my pc and I was actually happy with the performance increase lol. If your on AM4/ddr4 and wondering if you should take the leap into AM5.. the answer is just do it! Hope this helps someone!

Thrilled with the performance. I do light gaming and some productivity but I've always gotten Ryzen 5 level chips. Decided I wanted to lean more into the workstation side of things a bit. This thing is a beast. Im an Astrophotographer and having a ton of threads is very nice for processing hours of data in short time. Also realized a lot of the games I play are a lot better in performance with 32 threads instead of 12. I play a lot of simulation / city builder games not so much super fast paced high FPS titles. City skylines 2 for example I can run full simulation speed now in a large city. With my 5600X I couldn't run more than 1x speed with a town of 300,000 or more. It does run hot. If you test in cinebench, expect the temps to top out at 95C with multi core tests. This is with a 240aio and fans at 100%. I'm lead to believe this happens even with 360mm rads. It was pulling 220w of power during the test, what do you expect. In gaming it hung out around 65-75 pretty nicely though.

I had the unfortunate experience of having to buy this processor twice - the first time I ordered it, I got a box that had clearly been opened previously, taped up and I found inside a $87 Ryzen 5 5500. I immediately returned and reordered, seller made great on the return and I was refunded so I'm happy about that. Second one came and went on a MSI X870 Tomahawk board. Clamped it into place, put my waterblock on it and fired it up. I'm coming from a Ryzen 7 5700X on a MSI 470X and the 9950 is well over double upon testing. I have not tried gaming on it yet but as far as my productivity with work, things are going so much faster for me. I have read plenty of reviews that say this is mediocre and not the best for gaming but so far I have no complaints at all. I hope to not have to replace it again for another 3-5 years.

I replaced a 7900X3D with this unit. It dropped right in. If you encrypted your main drive, backup your encryption key first. Remarkably, in many benchmarks it was not any faster. Geekbench 6 said it was the fastest cpu it had tested by about 10%. I was one of the first because it was not listed yet and they needed 5 different people testing before it was. It easily overclocked to 5.9 GHz with a Noctua air cooler. Overall I expected the speed that perhaps will come with the 9950X3D when it arrives. With a premium cooler it was easy to throttle the cores. The cooler was ice cold with a super premium thermal paste, so I can only assume that internally the chiplets are unable to thermally interface properly to well designed CPU coolers. As a manufacturer I would certainly create a better thermal interface. I know that Intel has struggled with it for years. You should not need to de-lid a cpu just to cool it.

So far this is exactly what I needed for a productive build. Easy to cool with a 280mm or 360 mm AIO. AMD has CPUs on lock right now. I just hope this doesn’t lead to stagnation. Also I wish their CPUs and motherboards were more affordable but just a product of the times I suppose.

Same price as other outlets. But arrived next day. Works great in computer wit a couple of minor tweaks. Speeds up to 5.7 GHz. Noise level compares with other processors.
