* * * UPDATE * * * So had it running for about 4 days, and not very impressed. I did need to clean my Pentair FNS filter, so I wanted to see how good it worked after cleaning and DE recharge. WOW! I wasn't really getting much power to my skimmer, but after the cleaning, the skimmer and vac are both running together strong - and on only 2,900 RPM. At this rate, it's only pulling a little or 4-amps, so should be saving us a little on our electric bill. Very happy with my purchase. Installed 2 days ago. So far, so/so good. - EXCEPT - that this is no way a 3-HP motor. Not sure if the entire pump/motor assembly even weighs the same as just the motor that went out on my old system. The old motor was only a 2-HP, but was a little wider and definitely longer and heavier. It has 4 programmable RPM settings, in which setting #4 is the highest @ 4,000 RPM. In order for my Hayward vacuum to work, I have to turn the valve totally off to the skimmer and direct all power to the vac. If I take it down to 3,000 RPM, the vac slowly crawls along and doesn't pick up much. My system was down for 2 week so the pool was definitely dirty. I made sure to empty out the basket several times to prevent any loss of suction. I will clean my main filter out in a few days and see how it works then. If I get more power back where I can have both the skimmer and vac running simultaneously, I will update my post and stars as well. Let's see what happens...

So far, so good, installed it over the weekend and very impressed with how quiet it is. The only thing I will say is if you are replacing a Hayward pump or one of the other mainstream brands, the output on this pump is higher so you may have some work to do on the plumbing site, which is not a big deal, but it probably goes along with the fact that this is a 2 hp and I replaced a 1.5 hp. Really nice quality and great deal for the money. Hopefully it lasts a long time, but I did register and got the extended three-year warranty included for free.

I do have to admit. I was not expecting the pump to be as quiet as it is. I purchased the 2hp and when I had it to the max the water flow was strong, water flow is adjustable (and it is still quiet). I did have someone else install it. which took them about 1 hour (adjusting the water lines and electrical). Once installed, I was getting to know how the pump functions and the timer set up is very simple. You can set up the digital timer to go on at different times and change the flow/speed of the pump, it function is so quiet, no loud rattle. I like it very much. Only recommendation I would give is that if your pump is located where the sun beams down on to it. Consider a cover for the pump. The timer is on screen digital and with the sun hovering on to it, the on screen will fade. Since I recently purchased the pump I am looking into protecting it, so it can last a bit longer. I only gave 4 stars because I am still in the beginning stages with it :)

I was a little hesitant to switch to a variable speed pump, but the AQUASTRONG 2HP changed my mind instantly. The installation was straightforward, and the performance has been excellent. So quiet you could hear a mouse toot standing next to this! The pump is actually fantastic, I had a single speed 1hp pump previously. The installation is standard for any pool pump I've installed in the past. Programming is super easy! You get a max of 4 time slots where you can control the speed, and time of running! Pump does have a manual feature by just hitting the start or stop for backwashing, vacuuming, etc.... The standard 4 speed modes can be edited to your liking (I left mine in the sent standard speeds). Only thing you need to know is if you want to heat your pool, you'll have to get the speed around 1800RPM to create enough pressure for your pool heater pressure sensor to kick it on.

Great pump but the time advances 15 minutes per day. The seller has assured me that they will send a new controller as soon as possible. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

This thing works great! Ultra quiet and smooth. The self-priming feature is very nice. The not reason it doesn’t get 5-stars is that the digital clock is 5 minutes fast per day! I have to rest the clock on it every few weeks in order to get it back to the schedule that I’ve set up. Else it’ll start out an hour and a half earlier. Setup and installation were very straightforward if you’re handy. The unions are provided for different pipe sizes, I just had to cut some PVC pipe and adjusted them to the new pump. Electrical connection was easy Schedule programming is much easier than on my original 2-speed Pentair pump. The menu and user interface are much more user friendly. This pump is so smooth and quiet, I cannot hear it start up in the morning from inside my house. Even from the room that’s right next to the pump.

I'm very pleased with this vendor. Originally the pump had an issue, I contacted their customer service, and while they are not based in the US they responded very quickly. The pump had to be replaced and they sent me a brand new pump at no charge. Great customer service! I installed the new pump and its working perfectly!!!
