Purchased this router and the ARRIS Surfboard modem for use with Mediacom xstream internet service. They work flawlessly together. Excellent product. Easy to set up.

This was one of the worst purchases I have ever made. Router was very difficult to set up, the app was slow and constantly crashed or timed out. Tech support was terrible and cost me $40 on top of what I already paid for the device only to spend a week and countless hours with tech support that just told me the same thing. “Factory reset the device and uninstall/reinstall the app”) after doing that more than 20 times and tech support unable to fix the problem I returned this router.

I have three W21's. One is connected to my existing cable modem, the other two are satellites. Each satellite has the ability to connect a gigabit ethernet port to a client. I benchmarked the satellite, and the port attains the full available bandwidth across the combined mesh bands at almost 500Gbit/sec. I have two network clients that need that sort of bandwidth that is not available just across the WiFi. This setup has been VERY reliable. As of October 2024, I believe the W21 is not in production, so Amazon must have some remaining inventory.

The good side, it's faster than a COX gateway. The bad side, it doesn't let me turn off the 2.4GHz band, it doesn't let me assign separate SSID's to the bands, and the app doesn't let me control or even set defaults for the bands my devices use. My VR headset does not allow me to stream from my PC on 2.4 and and I have no way to switch it. It is actually unusable. I set my headset to the highest priority device, and I allow 5GHz steering. This is the only reason I needed a high performance router, and this router literally has the capability, it's just too dumb to let me use it. The ports on the bottom are also a bad idea. You have to use flat cables and the connector needs to be short to make the harsh bend. On top of that, this router only offers one port aside from the LAN to modem.

Just changed internet providers and instead of renting the equipment we went out and got this and the gateway and so far has been super fast. And unbelievable signal. I get signal they 4 walls and a concrete garage wall.

First, I'd like to say that I bought this from Amazon, advertised as a NEW item. It was fulfilled by Amazon.com Services LLC. It arrived in a generic white box that wasn't even sealed. The router was falling out of the box, the power cord was thrown in and tangled, the router itself had blue ink stains on it and dirty fingerprints all over it, and it was missing the quick start guide and I suspect other important paperwork. It was clearly NOT a new item, and I have contacted Amazon about this. So beware of seller! That said, so far, this router is working great! I have it paired with the Motorola MB8611 modem and things are lightning fast! The app to set things up was a little difficult (maybe would've been better if I'd had the paperwork that was supposed to be with it?) to use, but once we (Xfinity tech and I) got everything set up, it was pretty easy to navigate. There are hidden menus that take some time to discover. I have no dead spots in the house (about 1500 sq ft) and a decent range outside of the house, as well. It has definitely improved my tv streaming and everything I do on my cellphone, but since my laptop is considerably old, it only minimally improved its speed. Maybe someday I can afford a new computer, too.

Was great until it wasn't. It died literally one month after the warranty ran out, 2 years in.
