Like some other reviewers, I had issues with it staying connected to the net. Took a few hours to realize the problem only seems to occur when my laptop is on battery power as the PC continuously adjusts power settings.

This is an extremely well-made product from Acer and I am very pleased with it. It was easy to use and worked right away. I was pleased to see it is apparently sturdy metal instead of plastic and am thrilled that I can make my talbet work with ethernet! Also very happy that this hub provides 3 additional ports for USB peripherals. Thanks for a quality product, Acer!

Can output to either USB-A or USB-C in case you need that flexibility, but this only takes 3x USB-A + Ethernet RJ-45. Which is perfectly fine by me, since that's exactly what I needed.

After hours of troubleshooting, I am giving up and returning this. It does not work with a 2023 M2 Macbook Pro via USB-C. Removing the dongle and using just USB-A into another USB-C hub, it works as expected. I just upgraded MacOS from Sonoma to Sequoia, but it still doesn't work. The ethernet connects then disconnects every 2-15 seconds or so. Same happens with a USB memory drive plugged into the hub, it disappears and reappears in the Finder (along with warnings about disconnecting drives without ejecting them.) If you open the Network screen in System Settings or look at System Information (USB or Ethernet) and refresh, it appears and disappears, as if it's being unplugged and replugged. There are no support or drivers available on the Acer site. Putting this model number in their search finds nothing. Trying to start an online support fails because it says the serial number is invalid. Nothing in their support forums about this device. So back it goes. Too bad, I really liked the price, visual design and the tethered USB-A/USB-C connector. But something is wrong with the USB-A to USB-C dongle that isn't compatible with M2 Macbook Pros running macOS 14 Sonoma or macOS 15 Sequoia.

Click to play video Particularly for my use this is very helpful because I can plug it into the usb a port of my laptop and I can collect multiple devices at the same time. I have a lot of files to copy from my digital camera and this hub is very helpful because I can even connect three devices at the same time using the USB port and I have noticed that the transfer speed it is exactly the same as I would have not used it. Also something quite interesting about it is the fact that it keeps a normal temperature even when it is intensively used and is indicates the fact that it is well built and since I'm using it I didn't experience any kind of issues so for the reason I'm happy with it. I cannot say to many things about how he performs when a lan cable is plugged because I don't use this feature but it is good to have it just in case.

This review evaluates the “4-in-1 USB-C Hub with Ethernet Adapter” made by ACER. The product was shipped in protective sleeves and with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) 4-in-1 USB-C Multiport Hub, and an instruction sheet. First impressions: the hub is compact and well-made. The outer casing is made out of aluminum and the USB-C dongle cable has a thick but flexible sheathing with extra flexible stress-reducing rubber reinforcement at the connector. The hub has three (3) USB-A 3.1 Gen1 ports and one (1) 1 GB/s Ethernet RJ-45 port. The RJ-45 port is metal-shielded and is equipped with LED status lights. I tested the multiport hub with my ASUS G14 ROG Laptop under Windows 11 OS and my Dell Chromebook with zero issues - so far, so good! The setup is truly plug-and-play in a Windows 11/10 environment with no drivers needed. The hub uses a REALTEK RTL8153BC chipset which is pretty commonly used and has excellent driver support should you require any for older OS systems. The chipset provides the 4-in1 hub with very stable and fast performance, transferring files and streaming effortlessly without loss or lag. I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program so I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. To verify the durability of this product I am going to monitor this product and its performance over the next 4-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise. Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am very satisfied with this mini multiport hub, it’s compact and very convenient. In an era of “shrinking ports” on portable electronics (in favour of small size and lightweight) this product is a welcome companion for the traveling person. At a current price of $27.06, I feel that it is very competitively priced and is of good value. In summary: The “4-in-1 USB-C Hub with Ethernet Adapter” made by ACER appears to be well made and functions as advertised. Only time will tell if they have similar longevity to similar hubs in their class. The hub is very competitively priced and is of good value should it have a similar effective service life. Pros 👍: ✔ Good quality build. ✔ Durable aluminum casing. ✔ Slim and compact. ✔ Straightforward installation – unmanaged plug-and-play setup. ✔ USB-C bus powered – no need for an external power supply. ✔ Three (3) USB-A 3.1 Gen1 ports, and one (1) 1 GB/s Ethernet RJ-45 port. ✔ RJ45 Ethernet jack is metal shielded and equipped with LED status lights. ✔ Transfers 1GB file in seconds, and transmission speeds up to 5Gbps. ✔ Versatile and convenient – great for traveling IT professionals. ✔ Low price point and good value. Cons👎: ✘ No built-in USB-C built-in pass-through fast charging ports.

Click to play video The video shows exactly what you get and my initial impressions of build quality as well as a quick overview of the ports, so I won’t go into all that here. Instead, I’ll go into what I consider most important: the transfer speeds and the port functionality. Full testing methodology included below for your information, but really, the summary is all you need to know. Summary: A very well-made hub from a well-known, reputable brand. All ports performed fine in testing; although the network port was a little slow, I doubt that it's anything you'll notice in everyday usage. However, the price at the moment is too high for what you get. £31 for this is far too much. A more reasonable price would be about £20. So if it's around that price at the time you read this, this would be a good purchase. Pros & Cons: + Good/expected: Almost no drop in performance for the USB 3 Type A port compared to plugging into the computer directly. - Bad/disappointing: A bit of a drop in performance for the Network port compared to plugging into the computer directly. ----------------------------------------- Testing methodology: - USB 3 type A: Control - 10 GBps SSD enclosure containing 3300 MB/s NVMe SSD plugged directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type A socket on the test PC (CrystalDiskMark benchmark 464.13 MB/s); Test - Same drive plugged into the 5Gbps USB 3 type A port on this hub. - Network (Ethernet): Control - Average of 5 x DownTester file copy benchmarks (359.13 Mbps), connected to server on home network using 1Gbps eth ports routed via 1 Gbps network switch; Test - Same cable, same PCs but one connected to the ETH port on this hub. Results: - USB 3 Type A speed: 462.98 MB/s (1.15 MB/s slower than control) - Network speed: 234.54 Mbps (124.59 Mbps slower than control)

This doesn't look like any of the other combination USB and ethernet connectivity adapters I have had the opportunity to use. This is much slimmer by almost 50% than the other options. Here, the USB Type-A ports are on the side, which allows for the slim format. This is the first time I have seen any adapter products from Acer, and I look forward to seeing what else they come out with. ► Data transfer speed on the USB ports is at full USB-3.1 (5Gbps) rates. I have not experienced any random slowdowns or lost connections. ► I have full gigabit internet at home, and when I do a speed test while connected via this ethernet port, I get full gigabit speeds. ► There have been a couple of occasions where I needed to connect to a USB C port, so I used an adapter plug and had no problems. ► Running a speed test via the RJ45 NIC shows that it has no problems with gigabit speeds. Construction-wise, it is well-made and feels solid, even though it is very light. However, being lightweight makes it desirable to pack it into a laptop bag. The aluminum case is light but feels solid. The slim format easily slides into a laptop sleeve. There are a couple of negative items to mention. » After a few minutes of steady USB data transfer, it gets rather warm. » Unlike the other versions, this does not have any indicator LEDs on the USB A ports to show if they are connected. » The cable length is short. I don't know why companies have to keep these cables so short. It makes using it with my laptop when with a client difficult. Because it's so short, it hangs over the edge instead of being able to lay it down behind the laptop. » The RJ45 LEDs are located on the end, whereas the other versions have them on the top, which makes viewing them to ensure I have a connection easier. As is normal these days, when connected to a Windows machine, all of the ports were immediately identified and made workable without the need to install any drivers or do anything else "techy." The USB ports and Ethernet connector are plug-and-play in Windows 10, 11, Server 2019, and Server 2022. Priced where it is, $38.07 (when I ordered it), it's a decent deal.
