This is one of the most undervalued products I have ever owned. I use my Echo Show 5 primarily as a smart alarm clock. Being able to set my alarm by talking to it is so convenient, I also use it to control the bedroom lights and play m e some nice music to sleep to. One day when I was sick and didn't want to get out of bed to retrieve a tablet, I was able to stream my Amazon Video Content on this device. Sure the screen is small, but laying on the bed watching it didn't strain my eyes at all. The sound was awesome, Amazon having put better speakers in this new version (from my gen 1 which is now in the workshop). The adaptive lighting and screen color based on the ambient light in the room is perfect. The Alexa Skills allow me to play games with Alexa, and she keeps me supplied with dad jokes for work. You can customize the types of push alerts the Echo Show 5 gives you, which allows to you greatly reduce the number of ads you see. All in all, the value for the money is amazing, and you will continually find new uses for this excellent little item!

I am enjoying my echo show. I came with a smart bulb at a discounted price. Works well together. Time display is good. Speaker is loud and connects to my phone so i don't have to be talking to a machine all the time. This was an upgrade from an echo dot. I love the screen size and everything.

This is my first Echo device and I’m blown away by how many features it offers—I’m still learning everything it can do! So far, my favorite feature is being able to check my outdoor camera right from bed. I can also control the temperature in my house, turn lights and fans on or off (even the one in my shower!), all with simple voice commands or a tap. The design is sleek and modern, so it looks great in any room. It’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup and I’m genuinely impressed by its functionality and convenience.

Initial Response for 1 May 2025: I feel this is a lightweight version of what they can offer. I felt disappointed in limited local "skills" (not fond of what they call them, hard to remember the name for available widgets/apps/programs). It seems as if this may be outdated soon? It has that feel to it. It was not as easy to set up as other digital things in my life are. It took a while. Not as modern as I had hoped. It has a beautiful display. The voice options are decent. I liked a few of them, though there weren't many options. I managed to launch "Wheel of Fortune" (skill/program/app), but I did not try it because I was showing my husband how good (and bad) it was working out for me. The music sounded good, what music I was able to access for free. Limited there, too. It tried to sell me a subscription by offering a trial. I hope that didn't go through. lol I said no. Easy to close shutter. Slides right over. :) Beautiful (already available) images in Photo Frame (Slide Show). The cord is white. For the charcoal version, as stated by another reviewer, it stands out. I was prepared for that. O.o I am still playing around with it. I just got it today. User Interface is definitely not my fave, but for this price, I feel I got what I paid for, and I am happy enough with that. What this cannot do, my computer, iPhone, and iPad can do. I guess, combined, I have what I need. lol Please read the other reviews and watch the prices, and versions released. I think both may matter. Technology can move fast sometimes. I suppose it depends on what you want it for, if you will like it. I'm really, really picky. ^.^ So far, not bad. 4/5, 8/10. Update: 3 May 2025 I'm learning it's "language" a bit better. Still settings things up. It seems to "learn" your interests by asking if you want it to show more or less of something. That has helped a lot! I can't find a way to give it a custom name, but I did find where you can change the name, so I did. :D It's growing on me. We're getting along pretty well, though I still think the software could use an update/tune up, as well as the user interface (UI).

I recently upgraded to the Amazon Echo Show 5 (3rd Gen), and I absolutely love it! 🌟 The screen size is perfect for my desk, and it makes a great companion for checking the weather, setting timers, and video calls with friends and family. 📱💬 The sound quality is fantastic for its size, and the improved audio is definitely noticeable! 🔊 I also love the privacy features, like the camera shutter and mic off button—such a nice touch for peace of mind. 😊 Alexa’s responses are faster and more accurate, thanks to the AZ2 Neural Edge technology. It's like having a personal assistant right in front of me. 🙌 If you're looking for a compact, affordable smart display, I highly recommend the Echo Show 5! It's packed with features and perfect for any room in the house. 🏡👾

We originally bought the Amazon Echo Show 5 to control our Kasa Smart Light Switches (which it does perfectly), but it quickly became one of our favorite little gadgets in the house. What started as a utility purchase turned into a daily-use essential. The voice control for lights is super convenient—just saying "Alexa, turn off the lights" never gets old. But what really surprised us was the sound quality. For such a compact device, it delivers clear, rich audio that fills the kitchen perfectly. Saying "Alexa, play some music" while cooking dinner has become a nightly tradition and instantly makes the space feel more alive and fun. Plus, the screen is great for timers, weather updates, smart home control, and even checking in on video feeds. It’s one of those devices you find new uses for the longer you have it. If you’re building a smart home and want a hub that’s as fun as it is functional, the Echo Show 5 is a no-brainer. Highly recommend it—especially if it ends up living in your kitchen like ours.

The stand is a no brainer as it allows the screen to be easily seen especially in the dark.

Upgraded from a regular echo to this in kitchen. Love it, especially having visual reminders of any timers set, being able to watch movies etc. only downside is no Netflix.
