I had an older Chromecast device that I had been using for years to stream from my phone to my tv. Recently I could not stream anything from Appletv or peacock. It would act like it was going to work and once playback started the screen would go black though you could hear the audio and see the closed captions. Looked at everything out there and took a chance on the fire stick. This thing was plug and play. plugged into the wall, into the tv and downloaded the app to my phone and setup only took a couple of minutes and was well connected. Now I can cast/mirror my phone screen, appletv, peaccock and Prime with the remote control, which works way better than my dish tv remote for functionality and ease of use. I still have to switch the tv back to dish networks input for that but it is easy to do. Wish I had done this sooner I particularly like the remote and the app, which can also be used as a remote.

I was able to get the basic set up just fine but was having difficulty syncing the HD Fire Stick with my Fire Recast (Amazon's over the air DVR). Make sure you unpair the Recast from your old TV or Firestick first. I didn't do that, but luckily when I deactivated the old Fire Stick then I could complete the sync. Now I have the single menu on my Firestick for all "Live" content Live OTA , Sling, and Prime all on one menu which is very nice. Most of the support stuff on Amazon is out of date for Recast, and you need to download the Recast/Blaster app also. Amazon is no longer selling the Recast so getting support will continue to be a problem, but all is working fine now.

Been using the Firesticks for years now. When a new version comes out I buy it. It doesn't break the bank, they work very well, the remote is comfortable in the hand and the quick select buttons are a plus. Whether you get the HD or the 4K version, you can't beat the quality for the price. Recently bought the newest Firesticks and mistakenly purchased the HD version, have to say there aren't any complaints. Face it, for the money spent it's great quality. Also, Amazon puts their devices on sale all the time. Bought mine for I believe $34 and a couple days later it was on sale for $19.

I ordered this device for an older (2012-ish) LG smart TV. I guess it's so outdated that the apps on it are no longer supported. I was having to go through our Blu-ray player to watch anything on Prime & now that, too, is not working. I don't stream much but I'm hoping to get to the point where we can cancel our satellite TV service as it's just so darn expensive. I figured I'd try out the free stuff & see how that goes for a bit before signing up for subscription services. I also ordered an analog antenna to see if we can get some local channels free. I got the Firestick on sale for $19.99. Getting it hooked up to my TV was fairly easy. The trickiest part was getting it connected to a power source. My TV is mounted on the wall in our bedroom & there's heavy furniture covering the nearest electric outlet, so I had to finagle some power cords to get it to work but I got it. It powered on & immediately started the set-up process, which was easy. I added the apps I already have been using & getting signed in was a breeze. A QR code pops up that you can scan on your phone, which opens a link to connect to your account. So easy! The only downside is that you can't get the Google TV app. I have several movies purchased on my Google account but I found I can access those through the YouTube app, so I can still view them through "Prime." The picture quality seems decent. Like I said, it's on an older TV. It looks the same as anything else we play on this TV. The remote control is easy to use & came with batteries. There seems to be lots of other apps with free content, as well, which I'm excited to explore. Overall, I'm super happy with the device.

This was a game changer and I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. We were using an older Google chromecast in our bedroom and it worked out for a while but I always had to stream from my phone. It eventually took a dump on me and we decided on the firestick since we had a Amazon based built in on another newer TV downstairs. This was so easy to set up. You basically just plug this in and follow the prompts on the TV with the remote that it comes with. It already knew my account login (which was slightly worrisome) but I'm guessing because of all the Amazon connections and logins already going on so I just had to download the apps I wanted and sign into those, like Max, Disney+, Netflix, ect and you are ready to go. No more streaming from my phone. But it has that capability, so its nice to have that option still. You can also download a few music apps like Spotify or Amazon music and listen straight from the TV. I haven't had any issues with memory filling up or any freezing or connection problems. My TV is an older Sony and isn't 4K but the firestick still works like a charm. The price was very very worth it!
