I am with Amazon since around 2000, and I started with Kindle keyboard. I switched to Fire for multitasking and better screen. I am still actively using HD6 for size and portability, but glare was always a problem. So I decided to give a try to this smallish 6 inch kindle with slim cover, and it is fantastic. I am a reader, and I read few hours a day every day. I can use my phone for web and email, and occasional youtube. For long reading time both outdoors and indoors, at home and traveling, this simple kindle model is terrific. It is bright enough, has enough fonts and other settings, no glare, and reasonably long time on a single charge. A screen is responsive enough. WiFi is working well, books are downloading fast enough. A full price is all right with free three months of unlimited, and I'll be waiting for a sale to get a backup. I am addicted to reading, you see, so I got to have a backup for a peace of mind. This 6 inch reader even in a cover is slimmer than fire HD6 and fits into any normal pocket. Very portable. For readers like me who don't need any experimentation with features and settings, it is a truly fantastic option. No bells and whistles, just reading. I am extremely pleased.

I have to admit I was not sure I would be OK with a small screen. My husband reads his Kindle books on his phone and I just can’t. So I thought this was getting very close and had trepidation. However given the price point, I really wanted to give this newest Kindle a try for two reasons. Arthritis in my hands and travel. I use a mini iPad for most all of my Kindle reading, primarily because I love the page turning feature and like the option of being able to jump to other options—messaging or the Amazon app etc. if I just quickly want to, while reading. Also because I love full color for home page and certain art books and other selected books. However, while small, it is a bit heavy. This new Kindle is just right and light. I love it. I can put this in my purse and it’s not going to weigh it down. Something very important to me as well. It’s so slender too. I would get that clear cover though, that helps with the grip, and does not add to the thickness. The screen is so crisp. I am a 67 year old who has had cataract surgery but still have floaters. So the screen, brightness, crispness and the ability to comfortably hold the device is important to me. Knocked all of those out of the park as well. I can hold this thing for hours and even with arthritic hands not feel pain. I don’t need to rest it on anything while reading and that’s a game changer. I am of course aware I can change the font, but I didn’t want a screen so small I’d have to make the font so large I’d get only a paragraph per page. I find that this size is like a better, brighter paperback book where I can slightly tweak the font to perfection giving me that book experience which also is important to me. Page turning is instant. Perfect. Battery is a workhorse. Best yet. Hours later still at 90% which I have NEVER had on any device using it even with moderate use. The photo shows the size of my mini iPad on the left. So while the size difference isn’t that much, the weight is. I own other much older Kindles. A Kindle Fire. An IPad. And various other electronics including other digital readers I really like. For travel. For going to a Dr.’s appointment, for just taking this with, hands down, this is the best. I LOVE it and didn’t think I would so much! I love it so much I’m using it more and more around the house even though I prefer full-color on my home page and the page animation!

Best purchase EVER. I was buying multiple books a month, but I was convinced I wouldn't use a kindle. I hate reading from my phone...but a kindle is very different! It doesn't hurt my eyes, or give me a headache after reading a while. I often read around my rambunctious 12 month old and it's easier to set down than a book. You don't lose your place. It has also held up well to him finding it and tossing it around... The font size is adjustable. I haven't messed with all of the features, but so far I have read 30+ books on it. I grab it on the go when I'm getting a grocery pick up, or anytime I am stuck in the car for longer periods of time. There's a lot of books available on it as well!

Having left my original Kindle on a plane with no change of having it returned to me, I purchased this paper while. I'm very pleased with it even if it is a bit smaller than my last one. It's much lighter as well. Takes time to get used to something new. Battery stated some outrageous charged time. I guess I read more than the average person. I would always take the charger while traveling even for a week. I know the battery would not last as long as stated with how many hours a week I read. Overall, I'm very happy with this kindle version.
