So far this simple little hub works as expected. It's built well, the data transfer is fast enough for me and the velcro that comes with the hub is helpful as it enables one to use a flash drive or charging cable without the hub sliding across the desk. So far I only have one complaint about this product and that is the bright green light on the front of the hub. In one way the light is helpful, as it lets you know it is connected and ready to go, although I think this is unnecessary. The light is bright and easy to see, but for me that is a negative element of the hub. I think too many electronics have "ON" lights that stay running forever and brighten up a workstation that some may want to stay dark. In my case, the hub is in a music studio and the cool green of the light clashes with the warm atmosphere of the music workstation that I'm trying to create. I know it sounds trivial, but it's the small things that make a difference right? :) I think a better option on the hub would be a smaller light footprint (or better yet, none at all). Have a much smaller light that flashes green once if the hub is working when you turn on your workstation or plug it into a computer. Have the same light flash red (and stay red) if there is a problem. Or have no light at all, as you'll know if it's working when you plug anything into it. Aside from the trivial light issue I would still recommend the hub. It's very nice and compact and a works well.

Exactly what I was looking for and works great! I needed a small, top input (or relatively top), vertical slot USB hub that I could use in conjunction with a lap desk (LapGear - also sold on Amazon), for when I decide to finish up work outside of my home office and away from my desktop setup. My remote access requires the use of a smart card and reader, see pics, which becomes obtrusive when plugged into a laptop. This hub and the included velcro allowed me to mount it on my lap desk, get the smart card and reader out of the way, and provide additional ports for a wireless mouse, flash drive, etc. Several reviews criticize the short cord, but it's exactly what I was looking for in my use case, as it's less to wrap up/tuck out of the way! You can always get a USB extension cord sized to whatever length your application may require. I was also looking for a hub with an integrated cord vs. detachable (ie other designs similar to this Anker product), as it's again a smaller overall form factor and easier to maneuver the cable how I needed to route it. Build quality seems great like other Anker products I've purchased, no issues with what I have hooked up to it.

Overall I love the hub and use it everyday. When I work from my laptop at home or on the go, the hub is with me. It works great and its fast when used with 3.0 devices and ports. Using 2.0 ports work great transfer files or access files, its just a little slower. If you edit images or keep your movie collection on an external drive and want to connect your portable drives via this hub, then this is a great option. I do a lot of my image editing from my laptop lately and the hard drive is always connected with no issues. Now I have to say I am glad I decided to give the Anker Aluminum 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub a try and I highly recommend this Hub if you need a travel USB Hub.

Just bought this a few days ago after doing a lot of research for a USB 3.0 Hub. I kept coming across this brand and saw that most of their products seemed to have great reviews, also it did help that this particular hub is probably one of the best looking ones out there and if you are like me and want your desk looking clean and sleek all the time, then you would probably want to go with this one as well. Another thing that I liked about it is the little led light that shows that the hub is working and is connected properly, I know it might be a small thing but if your wireless mouse or keyboard suddenly doesnt work and you dont have a light to tell you that the hub is still on, you might be looking at the mouse and the keyboard and then the receiver... So it might come in handy one day, plus it doesnt hurt to have it. I have had it for a few days now and the reason I needed a hub was because my desktop is under my desk and I needed something on top of my desk so that my wireless mouse and keyboard would function properly, because if you plug the receiver in the desktop directly, sometimes the mouse or keyboard starts lagging. Also I like having the option of plugging in whatever I need like a USB thumb drive or portable drive without having to go underneath the desk and find the port. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 (and this may be my fault) is that I properly measured the distance from the top of my desk to the port on my desktop below and was sure that the 2 feet cable that is attached with this hub would be long enough. However, it was not and so I measured the cable and to me it seems as if it is an inch or so off the 2 feet mark. I did contact Anker about this and they responded quickly, so great customer service, however, it is one of those things that could be nobody's fault, the cable might also not measure 2 feet because it gets wrinkled and so unless it stretched fully it might not get to that mark. I did stretch it as much without trying to yank it out of the device but anyways, an inch off does not matter. I will probably have to get an extension cable for my needs. All in all, as far as the quality is concerned, it is much better in person than it is in the pictures, and in the pictures it looks pretty good as it is. I am definitely going to be looking out for other products this brand makes from now on, because these days it is hard to find good quality products, that too at the reasonable prices that they sell their products at. P.S I am not affiliated with the company or benefit from writing this review, I just really am impressed by the quality and will definitely be a regular customer going forward. Hope this review helps someone.

I have my desktop PC below the desk. I noticed my keyboard was missing strokes constantly which made coding maddening. I replaced the keyboard but still had the issue so I figured it was the wireless signal being interrupted. Bought this to bring the dongle closer, no more desk to interrupt the signal. No more missed strokes! I only use this for that purpose, but it works great and haven't noticed any lag either.

The build quality and functionality of this product is great. It is much smaller than the picture shows and very compact. As soon as I connected it to my laptop, I checked each and every port and confirmed that when connected to a usb 3.0 port, it gives an average speed of about 400 MB/s, which is quite good. Anker are usually of the highest quality. It is more expensive than the other hubs, but I liked its styling and it looks good on my desk. Remember that you won't get full USB 3.0 speed if: - You have connected it to USB 2.0 port on your computer - You are using all 4 port simultaneously to transfer files to your computer.

I purchased two of the black 4-port option for my desktop PC. These are wonderful. I have a lot of peripherals connected to my PC, including a keyboard, two mice, wireless dongles for game controllers, a webcam, a microphone, a USB DAC, and a joystick. I was constantly juggling different peripherals and having to go under my desk to switch them out when I needed to. With these, all of that is gone. They have nice, long cables, on an angle for easy placement, and they have convenient velcro strips underneath for attachment under a desk. I connected one to the back of my PC and left it under the desk so I could connect everything at once, and ran one up to the top of my desk for USB sticks and other temporary connections. I have experienced no problems and they are making using my many peripherals much easier. The only (barely)issue I have had is when trying to connect a large portable hard drive to the hub - however, I didn't expect this to work considering I was using the unpowered, 4-port hub, and was trying to connect a power-sucking portable drive to it. It makes sense. The hub simply turned off due to power draw overload, and turned back on when I unplugged the drive. If I was to have any problems, Anker has an absolutely excellent customer service system, and I am sure they would have quickly provided me with a replacement. Overall, for general usage, these are both cheap, and also have a lot of useful features that make them extremely convenient. They're also USB 3.0. I am very pleased with Anker's quality, as usual! I did not receive this product for review. I purchased them myself. I was not paid by anyone for this review.

100% recommend buying this one. I've attached it to my desk and run a USB wireless headset, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard and a headset charging lead through it all at once. No issues with data transfer. Make sure it gets plugged into a USB 3.0 port though.

Perfect for connecting to the USB 3.0 port on the back of my iMac to avoid having to get up and fuss around the back of the iMac. Little green light tells you that it is connected and USB 3.0 for high speed dumping of images and videos etc onto USB sticks. Works exactly as promised and delivery from USA to Australia was lighting fast. Thanks Amazon.com.au
