We bought this dimmer for our christmas tree. This allowed us to use our phones to turn the tree on and off, and dim the lights. our tree has LED lights and it worked great for them! It was very easy to include into google home, and it just worked great to help us not have to go behind the tree to turn the lights on and off. We only bought this specifically for the christmas tree lights, but I can think of other applications for this, I have small floodlight stands that have smart LED flood lights that can be controlled, but if I needed to use standard lights, this dimmer would come in handy to control them.

They suck! I have had many of these and they worked fine, but my internet went to 5Ghz and now these new plugs I just bought 5 weeks ago won't work!!!!!!!! Don't purchase unless they guarantee they work with your internet. NOW I can't return them because it it after 30 days. Very dissatisfied!

I bought this to go with some string lights I installed over my patio. I was specifically looking for something that could be controlled via Bluetooth because I live in a two family house and wanted both apartments to be able to control it without having to be on the same Wi-Fi network or share a physical remote. I also didn’t want to worry about batteries or losing the remote, so phone app control seemed ideal. After reading other reviews saying Bluetooth didn’t work I was concerned, but bought it anyway because I didn’t find good alternatives with Bluetooth. The apps and the process of connecting them to the dimmer is the only criticism I have. After installing the manufacturers app I couldn’t get it to work with Bluetooth, but once I installed the Smart Life app the Bluetooth controls worked fine. It also worked well via Wi-Fi and via Google Home by voice command. If you are entirely non-technical just buy one with a physical remote. By the way, I did not try to set it up initially using bluetooth. All settings are retained after being unplugged, so if you plan to use it with bluetooth you don't need WiFi to reach the area where you'll actually be using it. I plugged it in inside my house, configured it via WiFi and then moved it to the outdoor location. The dimming function was excellent but it turns out the lights at their brightest are just fine, so I don’t anticipate using the dimmer function — I’ll just be using the physical on/off switch on the unit. It is still a great deal for me as it is a great price even just for a waterproof outdoor switch.

I was almost ready to send this product back because like others, I couldn’t connect with my cell phone to the product. Following the instructions, another gentleman posted earlier about connecting manually with the picture shown above. For me, the problem is this is 2.4 ghz product only and will not connect to 5 ghz. A lot of routers have separate signals and you can connect to either one and you need to make sure that your cellphone Wi-Fi is connected only to 2.4. ghz. when you try to connect. I have a TP – link Deco mesh system that transmits simultaneously in both and you cannot connect independently to one or the other, which was preventing me from connecting this product. The solution was to use the Deco app for my router and set up your guest network and transmit that in only 2.4 ghz. Once I did that, using the manual connection feature, it found it right away, and I had no problem connecting. You can control it through the BN – Link app and the instructions that come with it are very clear for connecting to Alexa if you want to use voice control. The app allows you to name the plug itself, and to independently name the two different outlets on the plug. I connected mine to the front yard and named it that, and named the first plug fountain, and now I can turn on my fountain with just a voice command, and I also set it on a timer. Good luck and hope this helps someone. I ordered another one for my backyard!!!

Set up was simple and compatible with my Smart Life app. Great for plug-in outdoor light control. No more timers or in-line switches now all controlled from a phone app. Less hassle and much more convenient. So far no problems and functioning per expectations.
