Barbara O’Neill’s Forgotten Home Remedies Apothecary: 4 Books in 1 is an ambitious compilation aimed at empowering readers with over 500 natural remedies to enhance wellness, beauty, and family health. The book’s broad scope—spanning hormonal health, skincare, and family wellness—makes it an enticing resource for anyone curious about holistic approaches to self-care.
The most commendable aspect of this book is its accessibility. The remedies are explained with straightforward instructions, often requiring ingredients readily available in most households or local markets. For those new to natural healing, the clear, step-by-step guides for crafting teas, balms, and tinctures make this an inviting entry point. Additionally, the focus on sustainability and ancestral traditions offers a refreshing perspective in a world dominated by pharmaceutical solutions.
However, the book does have its drawbacks. At over 550 pages, the sheer volume of information can feel overwhelming, and the lack of deeper scientific evidence behind some claims may leave skeptics unconvinced. While the author references both ancient and modern knowledge, a more thorough inclusion of peer-reviewed studies would strengthen its credibility. Additionally, the promise to uncover "secrets Big Pharma doesn’t want you to know" veers into sensationalism, which might undermine the book’s more practical elements for discerning readers.
Overall, Forgotten Home Remedies Apothecary is a treasure trove for those committed to exploring natural healing. While it could benefit from a more balanced tone and stronger scientific backing, its wealth of recipes and focus on holistic health make it a valuable addition to a home library for the naturally inclined.

My mom loved this book. I read it with her and we learned new home remedies for the flu, inflammation, among other things. The best thing is that we have some of these ingredients at home and with the introductions and doses that the author includes with each remedy, it was easy to follow and make them. Right now we have flu symptoms so we made the ginger and honey remedy and I can say that it is effective and has helped us alleviate the symptoms.
I loved this encyclopedia of remedies. It is very complete. It has natural remedies for almost everything, from the digestive system, to relieving anxiety, insomnia, also for reproductive health for men and women, and much more. The best thing is that it comes with instructions on how to make the infusions and a description of what each remedy is for or when to use it. The author also includes the doses that should be taken for both children and adults and the concerns that you should have if you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby.
Seriously, this book is wonderful. My mom and I found many remedies to be prepared for when we get sick in the future, and with the guide it gives, we know that they are easy to make. I highly recommend this very useful book.

Love the info but I’m super visual so with zero pics I will get bored pretty easily while reading. The info is spectacular so will focus on that.
