We needed some light along our driveway, and I prefer motion lights to ones that remain on. I also had to install these on the north face of a retaining wall so solar was not an option. The light is very white, but since a warmer color temperature wasn’t available, I also purchased some orange film meant to go on car headlights and placed it over the LEDs. It took a TINY bit of the film for each one, so if you do this, know that you will have a lot of film left over, or hit up a friend who might have some film lying around. I’ll probably use the film on other too bright lights, so it’s no problem. I’m happy with how they look and might buy another set since there are some other dark spots that could use some light. I did not use the reflective stickers since they are bright enough for my needs without reflection. The ground stake method was easy, just used a rubber mallet to pound them in, then attached the light. The stakes didn’t crack or anything like others I’ve had. They’re a nice size, very unobtrusive and they turn off pretty quickly once you’ve passed by. That probably will help the batteries last, I hope!

Happy with these. Provides winter light on my otherwise dark walkway that I have no reason to fully light every night. Turn on as you approach. Shut themselves off when no more movement is detected. Came with batteries. Highly recommend.

Light is good for a walkway; the units are reasonably unobtrusive - I want the light on my walkway when it is needed, not a decorative element all the time, and these do the trick. Love that they only come on at night when motion is detected, not during the day. The time the light stays on is said to be adjustable for a period of time between 20 seconds and a minute, but really you can only choose between the two settings - 20 seconds or a minute - the adjustment slider is just too small to have a middle setting.

I’ve used these for almost five years. For the price and reliability, they are wonderful. They don’t last forever. Out of the eight that I own, I may have to replace one about every year. The batteries generally last about a year also. It would be great if new models became brighter periodically, like with flashlights. But these lights continue to be the best out there for the price. Mr. Beams is a reliable brand, and I hope they continue with new product development.

Solar powered lights work well when there is adequate light for the solar panels. Overhanging trees, a thicket of brush, or simply the shorter days of winter keep lights from working well. I bought these to highlight an area should wildlife come through. These lights work very well. They don't bask the area in light, but provide illumination enough to see that "something is out there", and may or many not need my attention. I have found that these lights have kept Geese away, and foxes. There has been a history with these animals, and with these units working throughout the evening, keep these little animals away. I suppose the sudden light at night is enough to scare them away. I suppose they find another route to where they are going. Another surprising feature is that they have kept the bears away from the apple trees as well. This was unexpected because I did not think that a bear would be that timid, nor easily scared away. The bears tend to stay away during the day, but at the evening, or perhaps at night, will "vandalize" aspects of the lakeside property, but this year has been completely different. I was surprised at how well these work. I have bought additional units for my home in the city. I planted these within the shrubs along the driveway, and with the darkened windows on my vehicle, it is sometimes difficult to know exactly where the edge of the paving is, and where the meagre plants I have start. These lights do a perfect job of keeping me posted. They use very little power, and am impressed at how a few batteries can keep the lights working so very well. As they don't have to be out in the sunlight to recharge, they can be "hidden" or installed in unexpected places. I am going to buy a few more, and keep them near my parents' outside stairs. The light that is generated would be enough to illuminate the trickier places, and hopefully keep my parents from slipping and having me visit either of them in the hospital. GREAT UNIT! I will be buying more.

Very poor product if you are looking for motion activated lights. They sense dark but not motion. I waved a magazine 12" in front of each (I bought 8) and no activation. Nothing whether 12' or 12". Total misrepresentation. I am a seller on Amazon and would be ashamed if my product was this faulty. Now I understand why the large discount. If you want a darkness activated light this is the one. Motion activated not at all. Too bad as they are very easy to install on wall or in ground.

I decided to try battery operated instead of solar operated lights. These work perfectly in my little back yard. There is a little piece of white to stick on the front to make it brighter, and it does the job. They click on any time me or my dogs walk by.

So far these lights work perfectly. Not sure how long the batteries will last. Lights turn on when within 10 feet and light my way to the house perfectly. I live in the Pacific Northwest so these lights will be put through a rigorous "rain" test. I'll update this review again but I would say that they are working out great! Update: 30 days and still work perfectly. I'm impressed so far. Will update again at 90 days. Update 2: 120 days and still working perfectly -- even through our torrential rains. Same batteries too (Amazon batteries) Update 3: Six months and STILL working perfectly with the same Amazon batteries. Update 4: Seven months and STILL working with original batteries. I have 12 lights and they are all working perfectly even with the torrential downpours. Update 5: Nine moths and STILL working with original batteries. Only thing I now notice is that the sensor activates at about five feet rather than ten (I think as the battery power diminishes the sensor capabilities are compromised). HOWEVER they are working perfectly through rain, snow, and cold sub zero temperatures -- all 12! Update 6: Ten months and three lights needed batteries replaced. And yes, the sensor activates now at ten feet with fresh batteries. And one final note: I have the "nightlight" feature activated on the lights so there is a bit of battery drainage each night. You could save battery life by not using the nightlight feature -- but I like to see where the lights are when approaching. Update 7: (My final update) 13 months now and believe it or not all lights still working. I've only had to replace batteries in four of the twelve lights. Through snow, wind, Pacific Northwest downpours these lights remain intact and working. One note: as plants grow around the lights if it gets breezy the plants can activate the lights so try not to have plants growing too close to the lights. I've had to trim the plants around a couple of lights that kept coming on. And finally sitting on my balcony one night a noticed in the distance the lights were turning on one my one. Finally a coyote appeared having activated all the lights! He/she just kept on going by.

Purchased these path lights to light a dark alley way at the side of my house. It was a blind spot from my garden lights and I was forever tripping over the dogs as couldn't see a thing. They are surprisingly bright for what they are and give a very cool white light which shines downwards. I used the two slots on the back to mount them on a fence panel (about 5 foot high) and the amount of light was impressive. It's certainly not a floodlight, but enough to light pathways, small patio areas and steps. Included are two lights, screws and two spikes for mounting in soil or grass. But I think these are better mounted higher so the pool of light spreads more (depending on your needs). They are weather proof and take 3 x C type batteries each. Note that they are supposed to be 35 lumens of light but the manufacturers website states 20 lumens. Either way they are quite bright for what they are. There are two switches inside. One controls the amount of time the light stays on and the other allows the light to stay on in a very dim low power mode, or to turn on and off as normal through motion detection. The lights will only activate after dark and the motion sensor is 180 degrees and detects movement up to 12 feet. Hard to say how long the batteries will last as it will depend on their usage. But they should last around 12 months according to the manufacturer. These are ideal if you require a cool white light that shines downwards. They won't shine much forward of their position so for me worked best mounted higher so the light spreads. Ideal for down lighting small areas like a path or steps. Highly recommended.

Great sturdy weatherproof lights - one of mine has survived being run over in the mud a few times. The batteries last a long time in motion sensor mode.
