I don’t think I’ve ever written a product review before but I Love it! Don’t even think twice, just get it. I’m figured I’d pick up a starter kit after 40 years of life getting in the way since the garage band days. I did my homework and decided on the BCP after comparing videos and reviews of other sets that were a bit cheaper. The guitars alone on other brands weigh twice as much, a ridiculous 15+ pounds. I couldn’t be happier with the quality and value. Sounds better than expected, looks great, plays well and you’re good to go with the amp, extra strings, tuner, bag, chords….literally everything. I did have a minor issue at first but BCP was great with an easy and quick resolution. Some of those negative reviews online are ridiculous. It’s a $150 full beginner set so be realistic but in my opinion it’s way better than what I expected and they stand behind it. It’s a great deal and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from BCP again.

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter as a starter guitar. I have been playing guitar for almost 20 years and I know you get what you pay for most of the time, so I was not expecting this guitar to come out the box sounding like a $1,000 model. That said, I was surprised how well this played after I did some tweaking to it. It is a very light instrument, which is good if you are a young person just learning to play. The neck was not bend and I only had a couple of dead frets when it came out of the box. The action (the distance from the strings to the frets) was a little high, which would make it harder for a new student to press the strings down. But it wasn't crippling however, and both the action and the dead frets were fixed with a quick truss rod adjustment. The paint job actually looks really good, better than the picture. One thing to note, however, is that the guitar is actually a greenish-blue, and not just blue. It is more blue than green, but there is definitely some green in there. The guitar amp...well, it works. The clean tones will get the job done and sounds pretty good for a cheap amp, but the distortion leaves a lot to be desired. It is a combination of the cheap amp and the single coil pickups that doesn't give a very good distortion tone. But it works for like a semi-dirty, bluesy tone, and a beginner wouldn't really care anyway. I plugged this guitar into my Marshall amp and the tone different was like night and day. So an amp upgrade would probably be in your future at some point if you bought this. One more thing: buy another set of good strings right away. The guitar comes with strings already on it and a pack of backup strings, but they are not good at all. They break like pieces of dried straw, so put on some new ones asap. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase, and this guitar will be my daughter's starting instrument. Once she shows she is getting into the guitar and learning, I will upgrade her equipment. But I think this is good for an absolute beginner.

I picked up this guitar deal to satisfy my "mid-life crisis" desire to learn to play the guitar. I agree with what many have already said here in that it's a good starting package. The guitar itself seems well built and mechanically solid. The color is slightly different from the picture, but very beautiful. (The picture certainly does not do it justice.) Mine has a slight green tinge to the blue. As someone has said earlier, the "Sky" logo on the guitar and amp have been replaced with "BC". It appears BestChoiceproducts is now branding them as their own. Amazingly, this has no effect at all on the sound quality it produces. :-) The unit comes in a very well-packaged box which is wrapped in a standard Amazon shipping box. The outer box had a hole in it large enough to put my small finger through when it arrived, but the inner protective packaging was hardly scratched. Well protected for shipping! When I unboxed it, there was some remnants of protective coating on the pick guard portion. Looks like they tried to remove it prior to shipping and did an incomplete job. About 5 minutes with a blunt pair of tweezers to pull the plastic from under the strings was all that was needed. The strap is basic but appears to work fine. I'm 6'1", and used the adjustment on it to have it sit comfortably on my shoulder. I don't think I would want to use this for hours on end as it isn't quite that comfortable. However, if I ever get to the point where that becomes an issue, I'll go splurge on something of higher quality. However, the included one is stable and I have no concern over the guitar dropping or the adjustment sliding while using it. I was really amazed at the size of the included amp. For those of you old enough to remember the days before ebooks, it's about the size of a large Oxford Dictionary or a couple of encyclopedia volumes back-to-back. When I put it next to my 14" Lenovo laptop, it easily fits inside the footprint of the computer. It's only about 3" thick, which makes it a great practice amp. I can take it to any room in the house easily so as to not disturb others while practicing. Yes, the overdrive on it is basic, but you would never use this for any sort of performance anyway. Also, when you are learning, the overdrive just seems to make it harder to hear if you have the chords right. So in summary, great amp for a beginner like myself. As mentioned, the guitar itself seems quite solid. The mechanical tuners hold their positions reasonably well. (Or so I have been told by those more experienced than I.) Now if they were only self-tuning! The pickups have a clean sound which makes it easier to hear your bad fingerings while learning. I'm no expert, but the strings may be something worth upgrading. I've noticed the low E string seems to have a large amount of fluctuation in tone depending on the strength of how hard you strum it. My digital tuner shows it going almost half a note sharp or flat depending upon the strength of the strum. None of the other strings seem to have this issue. Given that strings are cheap, it's probably worth switching them out to see if there is any difference. I haven't tried the included replacements yet to see if they are any better. Having said that, I can tune it to whatever my current strum strength is so that I can continue to practice with the string in reasonable tune. The included gig case is very minimal. It's essentially a dust cover. There's no protection at all for your guitar while inside. I'm only practicing out of my home, so I am not overly concerned. At least the large font, all caps "GUITAR" printed on the back will prevent you from accidentally using it for your Stradivarius violin. Otherwise, I think this is the one area I would buy a replacement for if I had a need to carry the instrument out of my home. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase as a beginning guitar player. I would recommend it to others.

Perfect beginner guitar, my daughter has self taught her self and love it. Really a great piece and looks good as well. The Amp is perfect size and loud!

Awesome deal, great guitar! Shoulder strap that comes with it wont last very long at all. Might want to get another one right off the bat, amp has a loud hum when plugged in to guitar. I'm thinking that its just a cable issue, so cheap fix! Great beginner set up!

Awesome beginner guitar! We were blown away but the quality, it’s a really nice set up. Amp sounds good, and the guitar feels good. Our son loved it!

Everything came as advertised. The amp is nothing great but for a beginner, it does the trick. Guitar seems well crafted. The connection on the guitar for the amp cord has a little play and sometimes gives some static. The only real complaint I have is that the buckle on the guitar strap broke after only a couple of weeks

It seems to be sturdy and well put together. The price certainly was right for someone like myself that is just learning. Delivery was fast as well right to my door.
