The Breville BOV650XL is amazing! Compact yet powerful, it toasts, bakes, and roasts evenly. Sleek stainless steel design fits any kitchen. Highly recommend for its performance and space-saving size!

I was hesitant to spend this much for a toaster oven, but I am so glad I did. It is much more versatile than a cheap toaster oven, which it replaced. As others have said, the top gets extremely hot. Most recommended a bamboo cutting board to go on top. Instead of spending $40 for the Breville brand cutting board, I purchased an Empune brand X-large (16x10) and it fit perfectly for less than half the price of the brand name board. My first pizza turned out slightly burned around the edges, but the time and temp is adjustable for this setting, so I adjusted it and it is much better. My only other complaint so far is the beep, when it it finished preheating or finished cooking, is not very loud at all. In fact, I can't hear it unless I'm standing directly in front of the oven. Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have not used some of the features yet, such as cookies and reheat. Aside from the few imperfections, I believe it is well worth the price paid for it. Like most busy families, we cook a lot of frozen or pre-prepared meals. This oven makes it much more convenient. The times and temp for each preset function are adjustable so you can set it up to your liking. We've used it so much that I am considering getting the Breville Mini for the RV.

I love this counter top oven for its size, features and ease of use. While the larger models show both time and settings (temp or toast/bagel, etc.) this one only shows one or the other, selected by the lower knob/button. Not a big deal once you are used to using the item, though. Subtracting one star for product longevity: I bought my first one in 2012 and it lasted 8 years. Replaced it in 2020 with a BOV670 (same oven ,but w/convection) and now it has crapped-out. My first "toaster" lasted 40 years... just sayin'. That said, I just purchased my third one, again a BOV650, as they quit making the convection version (probably replaced by the air fryer version).

Unpacking it was a bit challenging as the shipping box is so tight i had to open it on both ends to get the boxed oven out. I made the mistake of returning it the first time because i inserted the crumb tray wrong (upside down) and thought it didn’t fit. My mistake. If you place the crumb tray in wrong, just flip it over and it fits perfectly This is my second Breville Compact Oven which lasted me over 12 years. It still works but the oven function is no longer accurate for baking. The new one works perfectly and fits in my small kitchen. Its easy to use even if you don’t read the instructions, however I recommend reading the manual. It’s very easy to clean but do not use harsh cleaners or you will ruin the crumb tray. That happened to me on my first oven and the company has great customer service and didn’t charge me for replacement of my ruined crumb tray. I highly recommend this oven. It is dependable, easy to use and clean and is by far the safest toaster oven i ever owned. The best value for size and functionality.

Bought to replace an old Black and Decker toaster oven that finally died after more than a decade of use. I was never really happy with it because it was poor at making toast and took too long to toast everything from plain bread to English Muffins or bagels, etc. Key in decision to buy it was its top rating by Consumer Reports and it's reported ability to toast quickly and evenly. Opened it and -- before doing anything else -- read the operating manual. It said to record the model number and the serial number for future reference. Model number: OK. Serial number? There is no serial number. After calling Breville's toll free number and hanging on interminably -- with no indication as to how long I'd be on line -- I was told that there was a "batch number" embossed on the label that showed the Model Number. So why doesn't the paperwork that comes with the toaster oven say so? I have no idea. There's nothing on Amazon's site, or Consumer Reports site, or anywhere else I looked on line that indicated that the Breville needed 4 inches of clearance on each side, and where I keep my toaster oven I don't have a total of 4 inches of clearance combined on both sides no less 4 inches on each side for a total of 8 inches. The old Black and Decker was 1150 Watts. The Breville is 1800 Watts. It gets so much hotter than the old Black and Decker -- not just inside, but outside: the top, the sides, the front and the back, and the bottom of the over-the-counter cabinet above the toaster oven -- that it became immediately clear why it needed the excessive clearance: fire prevention. I repacked it today and took it to UPS. Within hours Amazon issued the refund even before it had left the UPS Store. Nice customer service! It seems as if it was well made. Frankly, it was surprisingly light in weight, but nicely constructed. Because of the clear fire risk due to the lack of the mandated clearances, I never even toasted a slice of bread in it. I have no opinion as to how well it actually toasts, or bakes, or broils, or cooks pizza, or deals with frozen food because i never did any of those things. I just returned it. If you have the required clearances, and don't intend to place it under an overhanging cabinet, this may be the perfect toaster oven I was hoping for. Just be aware of how much counter space you'll need for it -- much more than its footprint. Today I ordered a Panasonic NGB110P to replace it. From Amazon. It's rated at 1300 Watts, so although it's more Watts than the old Black and Decker's 1150 Watts it should not exude nearly as much heat as the Breville's 1800 Watts. It's not nearly as highly rated as the Breville, but Consumer Reports says it toasts quickly and well -- my primary concern after safety.

I've been debating over which brand and model of Toaster Oven to purchase for quite some time and I settled on the Breville Compact which I am totally pleased with, for various reasons. - I don't have a lot of counter space and I liked the idea of the cutting board which fits very nicely on the top. - I liked the look and colour of it and it seems at home under the corner cabinet in my kitchen which enables me to pull it forward when in use. - I wanted one that I can increase the cooking time for, if needed, without having to wait to the minutes to run out. - The settings are simple to operate and the front pull-out crumb tray is convenient to empty. - it makes great toast. As far as the temperature, I've used it almost every day and have cooked several casseroles, impossible pies, fries and baked potatoes and made broiled sandwiches and so far, unlike others I notice absolutely nothing untoward....infact it roasts or bakes far quicker than my oven especially considering that it preheats in a matter of a couple minutes. If a recipe tells me to bake something for 25 minutes and my Breville does so in 25 minutes, then what the actual temp reading is for the entire period of that 25 minutes is not an issue to me.

The best toaster oven I've ever had. It has a display that lights up with clear & concise big numbers. The knobs feel sturdy. It definitely is a smart oven, as I've been able to use it to toast, roast, broil, bake, reheat (esp pizzas)! Very uniform heating - my toasts are only one shade of brown throughout, which I've never had before. It's definitely worth the price, as I expect to use this oven for years and years to come.

This is our 2nd purchase of this model. The dimensions are perfect for a small home with limited counter top space. Our last one lasted about 8 years with very regular use including roasting small chickens. Ultimately, some of the settings stopped working but even then we used other ones to compensate. Gave 4 stars for ease to clean because stainless steel is never easy to clean really. Great product! Hope they don't discontinue this one. We own several Breville products and they all seem to be of this quality.
