I just moved into a new apartment and was looking for a complete knife set that looked good on the counter but didn’t break the bank—and this CAROTE 14-piece set turned out to be exactly what I needed! The knives are super sharp right out of the box. I chopped through a tomato with no squishing and breezed through chicken breast without any tugging. The non-slip handles feel sturdy and comfortable, even when my hands are a little wet from cooking. I’ve been using the chef’s knife and paring knife the most, but every piece in the set has come in handy—including the kitchen shears, which are surprisingly solid! The included sharpener is a nice bonus, and I like that everything stores neatly in the wooden block. The block itself has a clean, modern look that fits perfectly with my kitchen aesthetic. We use knives all the time in our house as we are always prepping something, we receive these knives four days ago and they have been put to heavy use already and I have to say I am extremely impressed with these knives. They have remained very sharp despite cutting things that generally will dull a knife slowly but surely such as tomatoes because of the outside of the skin, watermelon, potatoes etc. Thus far these knives have remained super sharp. I love the choice of the black block that they come in it works really well with the wood that has beautiful grains of wood in it, and even the sharpening tool that comes with these knives feels to be heavy duty. We have not had to sharpen the knifes yet But the knife sharpener is extremely scratchy and that is exactly what you want for the surface of a knife sharpener. Is it possible my review on this or my opinion on this could change a month from now yes of course knives are finicky like that. However, so far after four days of heavy use we have thrown a lot of these knives and they have not even blinked and for the price point of $79 man you just can’t beat that.

These knives arrived well packaged and well sharpened. There is a good variety of different blades, so I always have the one I need. The handles are not made of wood, and instead have this printed decal on them, so I'm a little worried about how they hold up visually over time, but otherwise they feel sturdy and well constructed. It is recommended to hand wash them to protect the handle decals. The shears are secured together, so you can't take them apart for cleaning. It's not my preference, but it doesn't affect the quality or ability to cut.

I'm so glad I ordered these knives. They are very well built and super sharp! Because they include so many styles and sizes, it's easy to pair the proper knife with whatever you're cooking. I'm vegan and I've tried a lot of different knives that just don't cut the more solid veggies very well. These are so sharp and the metal is very sturdy, so they chop carrots and potatoes like going through hot butter. The bread knife is my favourite because, I do like a good home made bread. The kit includes everything you will need, whether you're a meat eater or vegan, and because it includes a nice wooden holder and sharpener, this may be the last set you need. The last feature that impressed me is the wood handle with two rivits. I like wood handles, but most sets today, come with plastic. The wood handle is ergonomically contoured to fit big and small hands, which gives you more control over cutting. This is the best set I've owned so far, and it will get tons of use.

A great starter set of knives for any kitchen. This excellent set of knives will make all your kitchen prep go easier. While not likely a comparable product to any big name brand knives out there this will certainly hold up to years of use in a daily cooking environment. The product is well made and really sharp right out of the box. Blades are "Full Tang" meaning the blade extends all the way out to the end of the handle and everything fits nicely in the included wood block. The paper that comes with it says dishwasher safe but if you know anything about putting wood tools in a the dishwasher I'd seriously recommend hand washing this beautiful wood set as nothing wood really survives well in the dishwasher. Great value for the price and will have a long servicable life if you take care of them.

This set is a good value - not going to make a real chef go weak in the knees, but has everything you need in a decent block for a good price. You get 4 kitchen knives plus a "steel" which is meant to straighten the edge, not really sharpen a knife. They are reasonably sharp out of the box. Again, nothing a pro would faint over, but plenty good enough to start out with. You also get six serrated steak knives and a pair of scissors which all fit into the black painted block. The knives are "full tang" meaning the steel blade extends through the handle which is good for strength and durability. The instructions say they are dishwasher safe and also suggest you hand wash them, which is good practice for all sharp knives (assuming you want them to stay sharp).
