My use-case is hiking in sage, saltbrush and other thick underbrush. My travels also take me up and down slickrock and other smooth and rough sandstone and conglomerate. These pants flex in useful ways that older-style hiking pants do not, and give me flexibility to step up to ledges that non-gusseted inelastic hiking pants do not offer. Pocket arrangement and quantity could use some improvement. EDC items like tac lights and multitools either share space in a single small pocket, or end up in a cavernous large pocket. Separate small pockets even on one side only, would be a plus. The 'mag pocket' version of this tac pant does not offer this flexibility either (just received a pair of those). Durability seems to be high and as always, time will tell. I've worn these for about 40 miles of hiking so far, and they do not show any abrasion despite getting thrashed by undergrowth, rock and grit. They dry quickly and have not changed size on me due to shrinkage. These pants end up feeling more like a trusted tool, rather than just 'clothing' -- and that's a big win. I feel confident in crashing through thorns and sharp branches that thin hiking pants offer no protection from. The pockets are all situated in strategic positions to help with this -- I'm sure that's no accident. Would I get another pair of these? Yep -- already have three and plan to get another. They compare well to 5.11 Tactical issue pants in most ways. The 5.11 pants seem a bit more engineered and finished, but they are also heavier, hotter, and lack the elastane for maneuverability.

Pay attention to the front pocket sewing location illustration by the key ring. Two styles with some colors having one, other colors have other style. For example Midnight Blue and Soiled Green colors (and some others), the front pocket inner corner are sewn past the keyring, so the pocket is more of a vertical/front access, see green pant photo. Not as stylish and depending on taste maybe not as functional. Some other colors the rear corner of front pocket corner wraps around to side a bit more and is sewn to the outside of the keyring, more of a traditional front pocket style/access, see brown/tan pant photo. I prefer this style personally. Color may be more of a deciding factor for you. Thought the front pocket difference may matter to some. You can zoom in and see the front pocket difference between the colors. Still a nice product either way.

As a disabled security professional on a tight budget, finding quality work clothing that’s both functional and affordable is tough. CQR’s Tactical Pants are a game-changer. The lightweight, water-repellent fabric holds up through long shifts, and the multiple pockets are perfect for carrying my gear securely. The flexible waistband and articulated knees make movement easy, which is crucial for me given my mobility challenges. These pants are rugged yet comfortable, and the design looks sharp without screaming "tactical." After weeks of daily wear, they still look brand new—no rips, no fading. For the price, the quality and thoughtful design can’t be beat. Highly recommend for anyone in security or similar fields!

So, I’ve ordered from this exact same listing twice now. The first time, I ordered the pants in a khaki color and I received a totally different style of pant. This listing seems to be for the CRQ code TLP760 style pant, but I received TXP440 style pants in khaki. They’re pictured with this review, but I wore them to work today, so they’re super dirty at the moment. lol. You’d think I might have been angry that I did not receive what I had specifically ordered, however, they’re actually my favorite pair of pants by far. They’re great for work, super light weight for those blistering summer days. And on top of that they have these breather slits right in the back of the knee. So working in a factory with no A/C like I do, they’re absolutely amazing. I also love that the front thigh tactical “clip” pockets on them are both just non-covered slits instead of one slit style pocket and one covered velcro flap style pocket like the ones in the listing. Makes it easy to carry pens, markers, box knife, whatever. And as a result, they’re both easily accessed whether you're right handed or left. The lower cargo pockets on them aren't velcro either. One is a zipper pocket and the other has a flap, but no velcro, so it's easy to get in and out of. Finally, the key ring is on a belt loop in the back of the pants, so your keys arent in your way all day when reaching for items in the front tactical pockets. Plus, we have to where an ID badge, so having an ID badge on one side and your keys on the other gets annoying and also gets in the way of removing items from those tactical “clip” pockets on the thighs. Placing the key loop in the back avoids this annoyance. They also look very good too, so you could wear them casually. And they seem to be pretty resistant to staining, although not completely. I work numerous jobs in my position at the factory, some involve a lot of oily metal parts. Others involve alot of dirt and dust, etc. You come home filthy every day. Save for the slightest bit of discoloration in the front thigh area, and a dark spot in the exact shape of my wallet on the back pocket that probably came from sitting on something dirty, they look pretty much like new after every wash. Not sure why it only stained where my wallet was specifically and not the rest of my butt, but whatever. lol. Oh, they’re not stretchy in the waist though. That was a selling point I looked for specifically, as well as the front thigh tactical pockets. And since reviews said these pants ran small, I bought a 32 instead of a 30 and then when I got them they hung off my butt a bit. A belt fixed that without a problem though. So to make a long story short, I wasn't upset at all that I didn't receive the exact pants I had ordered because I liked these so much more. When I ordered this listing, I did a lot of research and compared a lot of different brands and styles and landed on these as the best option, but I was still making a couple compromises. After receiving the TXP440 by mistake though, I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. So, I decided to make a second purchase from this same listing in the color black hoping that it would show less dirt as I wore them at work. This time though, I ordered a 30 in the waist after deciding that the brand fit pretty true to size despite what a number of the other reviews claimed. To my dismay, the second time I purchased them I did receive the pants that are actually listed here and I must admit, I’m slightly disappointed and have found another listing for the style of pants I like more that I’ll likely purchase from in the future instead. With that said, the pants aren't bad at all. The material is significantly thicker I will say. Which likely means they’re a bit more durable, but they’ll also be a lot hotter in the summer months and will definitely lead to some mud butt situations here in the south in a factory with no A/C. Hah. Which was admittedly one of the criticisms I saw levied against the pants in other reviews before purchasing them the first time, so whatever. I sort of expected it. I was just really hoping Id get the other style of pants again like I did the first time. I’ll just wear them during colder months I guess. Then the key ring has returned to the front of the pants on this style, so yeah, lame. To me at least. And three of the four additional pockets are the flap style with velcro, with only one slit style clip pocket. But since I’m right handed, the easy access slit style front thigh “clip” pocket is on the wrong side for quick access to pens and knives, etc. For the way I prefer to carry them at least. Still, my original tactical pants had the same velcro flap style clip pocket, so I’ll live. And finally, these do have the elastic stretchy bit in the waist band. Thing is, I bought my last elastic waist style tactical pants in 32 and found that the elastic tightened enough on my 30 inch waist so that I didn't have to wear a belt with them. BUT, if my weight fluctuated a bit as it tends to do and I put on a few pounds in the winter, they still fit great. Since I bought these in 30 though, they fit great, and movement in them is wonderful, but the elastic doesn't seem like its going to give enough to go up a whole pant size if I gain weight. So I would’ve preferred to have these in 32 and only bought them in 30 anticipating receiving the same style pants I did the first time. Hah. So yeah, I hope this helps any potential buyers. Sorry it’s so long, but for anyone wavering a bit between which style to buy, I’d suggest going with the TXP440 instead unless these particular pants are just the exact pants you want for every reason. And even then, be cautious, cause you might order them expecting to get the exact pants in the listing, only to select a color and size that they end up sending you in a totally different pant style all together… Just a heads up.

This is my third pair of these pants - got two khaki/tan colors and one gray. The first two pair I bought I've had for over two years now. Hike in Yellowstone with them and all over in my home state, worked outside in them, spilled things on them. They hold up. They clean up good. Water resistant works good. They are super comfortable. They're good to wear all year no matter the weather. The size fits just right (I've been a 32x32 my whole adult life) and they fit just right. Whenever these pants finally wear out, I'll definitely buy another pair. Solid stuff.
