I bought this for my little Yorkie who likes to run upstairs and disappear and get into the cool things up there. We only wanted to control the roaming all over the house and bought this gate. I watched the video reviews and noticed that everyone was saying that the 3M sticker damaged their walls. Well all I had to do was not peel off the sticker for the side that goes against the wall and I even used these wall guards for the top that is on the dry wall and it actually secures it better. So now no sticky is on my walls and if I ever needed to remove this gate it will be a clean wall left behind and no damage. I love the gate after I thought through the install solutions that would make it better. So if you want to avoid damaging your walls just don't peel off the sticker.

My husband ordered these gates for our 2 dogs for both outside and inside to keep the doggies confined to the mud-laundry room inside while we are out running errands, etc., and also to keep them in the backyard instead of letting them run down the long sides of our house to bark at the neighbors. The gates are sturdy, open and close very easily, and most of all, allow the dogs (and us) to see through the gates so the dogs are not behind closed doors. I don't know how they work for babies and toddlers, but for us, they were easy to install and we are very happy with them!

Install was a bit tricky with the staircase banisters. I was right between the two given widths and went with the smaller one but it didn’t work. I added a take-away bar (the right side of the picture has bars/rungs that you can add and take away depending on the width of your space) and shoved the bottom down to fit. It comes with a range of fittings for all sorts of installation situations. It made it through the first week of four children ages 5-16, a 50 lb dog, and a cat without coming loose. I am impressed and love it so far!

i do not have children, but I do have my own dogs and I occasionally foster dogs. I previously had 1 or 2 gates of this type that eventually broke down (although I was happy with them). My dogs have been acting up again so I wanted to keep them out the living room. I bought a cute white folding shorter gate that worked by awhile, until my border collie figured out how to push it open. This gate opens to 57" - I needed 59", but bought it anyway (I just put a 4X4 at the hidden end to make the opening proper. The open and close and automatic close mechanism on this gate is A+++. It's very good looking and sturdy. The bottom piece that holds it steady is fantastic. And, lastly, the taller size will come in handy if I ever have a jumper in my house again.

This is a heavy-duty grade gate that would be perfect for my big, insecure doggo who is terrified that The Enemy Is At The Gate whenever someone walks down the street. But I am intimidated at mounting these two big, heavy things by making holes in the walls and mounting them correctly. (I ordered two gates so that Scaredy-cat boy wouldn't be able to approach the front door for his screaming alerts.) Getting this wrong on mounting is going to make a huge mess on my walls. Now I have these two gates, but am stalling, knowing that I'd make a mess of mounting them. So I continue to use treats to redirect my scaredy-cat boy...not a great solution. Sigh. The gates look sturdy and useful But I'm unqualified to destroy the front area walls of my house.. Sorry, guys. Suggestions?

I first selected another product with a 4.5 that looked just like this. It was flimsy, a challenge to install and not well designed. I returned it and tried this one and couldn’t be more pleased. It is sturdy, well engineered and was easy to install. The sections interlock with two small posts rather than one like on the initial one I ordered. It solidly fits in my opening which is about 56 inches wide. The gate swings both ways and swings shut behind you when opened all the way. I bought a second one for an other wide door way I have.

Impressed. Good quality gate for the price. I wish it had protection for the exposed metal on the tension bolt when used outdoor to prevent rusting. Other than that I'm satisfied with the quality and product.

I bought this gate to keep my cat out of the basement. It was pretty easy to assemble (I used the tension mount) And the gate swings both ways so you can outwards regardless of which direction you're coming from. I did drape a blanket over it because I was a little concerned my cat may try to stick his head through the rungs and get stuck, but for a bigger animal or child you wouldn't need that.
