A half-cup serving of amla berries contains: • Calories: 36 • Protein: Less than 1 gram • Fat: Less than 1 gram • Carbohydrates: 8 grams • Fiber: 3 grams • Sugar: 0 grams Amla berries are also an excellent source of: • Vitamin C • Vitamin E • Vitamin A • Iron • Calcium Amla berries are also an excellent source of: • Vitamin C • Vitamin E • Vitamin A • Iron • Calcium The phytonutrients and antioxidants in amla can benefit memory by fighting against free radicals that can attack and damage brain cells. Amla's high concentration of Vitamin C helps your body produce norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter believed to improve brain function in people with dementia. Handle amla berries the same way you handle grapes. You'll want to be careful not to burst them if a recipe calls for whole berries — amla berries are a bit fragile. Amla berries will stay fresh in your refrigerator for about two weeks. They also freeze well.

I got this product to try on my hair/scalp, although apparently this is also consumable. From my 5 minute "research", looks like small amounts can be OK but there may be issues if one consumes too much, so I'll take that into account for my own self. From the hair mask usage, this reminds me a lot of when I would mix henna and water into a paste and then color my hair with it (many moons ago), although this recommends to use oil, such as coconut or olive oil. In the past, I've tried just straight liquid coconut oil and that took FOREVER to clean out of my hair, so I went with the olive oil instead. Seemed to work OK, but honestly,, I wonder if just using the olive oil straight would give me the same results at least for making my hair look heathy. With the added vitamin/antioxidant aspects of the amla itself, I can see maybe it can help promote stronger hair growth from the follicles, but I wouldn't be able to say for certain without months of trying it out. Since like I said it reminds me of henna powder, I may try an experiment of half my head with olive oil + amla and the other half water + amla just to see how much difference there is with the oil & water. If I do that, I'll update this review. What I believe from the claims on the back is that (again because of the richness in vitamin C & antioxidants) that it can help support the immune system if consumed and perhaps some gut health because of its fiber content. What I find a stretch is the claim "Prevents age-related diseases: Reduces risk of heart disease, diabetes & cancer." Granted, it does say by how much or that it's a cure of any sort, so maybe it does reduce by some smidgen, but I have to imagine that someone with one of those diseases might put more faith in this product that it deserves. It does mention if you're pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor's care to consult with your physician first before consuming this product as well as to keep out of reach of children, so they are protected from liability, but it should also give one pause if you've not worked with amla powder before. From the aspects of the product that shipped, it's well packaged in a plastic lined zippered paper bag. The back label offers the various ways to use the product, including how to add to smoothies, make into a tea, etc. The powder is fairly fine and consistent, so it's been well produced. The package ONLY contains amla powder, so no fillers or other "stuff". So, I've rated 5 stars for the product quality minus 1 star for the claims.

The Amla is finely ground and I do not think notice it if I add it to my coffee or tea. If I just drink in warm water it has a tart taste. I also used it on my hair and it made my hair feel good and healthy after using the product. The price and the amount that you get is a great value. Overall a very nice product.

This is my first time using this brand. I bought it because of the lower cost. When I mixed it into my beverage I noticed a lack of amla taste. It turns out it is too grainy to fully dissolve. I will be re ordering my regular brand and try and figure out another use for this stuff.

Always something to doReviewed in the United States on December 26, 2023

The grind is very fine, but there is also grit. When mixed in water, the grit falls to the bottom of the glass and is easily discarded. The flavor in plain water is not bad at all, as it doesn’t have much flavor at all. It has an air of slightly tart and bitter sweetness to it…maybe a little papery flavor… it’s hard to describe because so little of it is required to gain benefits, only 1 to 2 teaspoons. This small amount is barely noticeable in coffee, and is non-existent in juice or a smoothie. Note: unlike in water, the grit will stay incorporated in a smoothie. Next, I will be making a facial scrub!
