I've occasionally purchased refurbished Dell laptops, and sometimes receive them as donations from people who are upgrading to a new computer. These laptops may come with frayed failing power cords, universal power cords, or no power cord at all. So, I always like to buy a nice new Dell brand power cord. That way I'm guaranteed compatibility and reliability. A recent laptop had a barrel power adapter style cord, but also had the ability to use a USB-C power cord, so I bought this one. It's a nice design similar to the other new Dell power cords. This cord would be useful for powering or charging other USB-C compatible devices. ALTERNATIVE — For those who are traveling or generally like the latest technology, the new GaN technology for chargers make it possible to have a very small but powerful charger with plug tongs that fold into the charging block. These are very nice charging blocks. When paired with a USB-C cable rated at the proper wattage, you could have a laptop power cord and charger that could fit in your shirt pocket. So, definitely check out the various options available with GaN charger technology. Otherwise, if you like the industrial design of the Dell brand power cord, this one is a great choice.
