I've been reading all my long life. I think I have read all of Mr. L'Amour's books. I read solely for pleasure and any knowledge I gain is just a bonus. Other writers of "westerns" just don't seem to make the settings alive. I'm ex Army and retired cop. I read mostly mystery, cop and thrillers, until I see a Louis L' Amour offer on Kindle. I will read it, weather I've read it before it not. Thank you Kindle for so much pleasure in my waning years.

Loving landscape descriptions, living in the rough, hard work, horses, and good men standing up and fighting for what's right are in all these stories, well told. CW: some old racist phrasing, not nearly as bad or mean as some other stories of the time.

Unfortunately I had read all but one of the stories before, but they are all good ones. I wish the list of stories had been available before purchasing the book.

I love these books by L'Amour, such great western stories I used to devour and read under the covers with a flashlight in my teens. I was so glad to have stumbled onto these Kindle books and have been reading them for the past weeks. Every story is interesting on its own, well written and keeping me glued to the stories way too late into the night. Great buy for any reader and lover of the great West, gunfighters, coach rides and robberies among so many stories dating back to the early development of the West, Texas, Arizona desert and the Indians as well.

Not his best work. Good reading while doing oil change, car wash, waiting in Doctors office etc....

Good stories. Not vintage lamour but still very much worth reading. They are good fun adventures set in the old west.

Louis L'Amour was arguably the most popular writer of the action adventure tales since Zane Grey. Any one of his stories, whether a full novel or a short story, is an enjoyable read. This set of his short westerns is timeless, and fully enjoyable. And for those of you who don't enjoy reading about graphic interactions between men and women, there is no sex. There may be the hint of love, or marriage, but they are just part of the characters and their background. These stories may be old, may be from the era of pulp stories, and you may have read one or two from years ago, but they are like visiting an old friend. Read it and enjoy.

I have read a lot of Louie ‘s books and short stories. You can read most of the books in one flight between DFW and SFO. You walk off the plane with a smile. If I wasn’t finished I would rush to the hotel and finish the book over dinner. Trust me you will learn about the west, the culture, and how to end up with the beautiful cowgirl at the end. You cannot go wrong reading these great stories.

Top notch writing as usual. His books are well thought out. Easy reading. Western at it's best. Really explains how it was in the oldwest.

This guy writes great and authentic tales of the old West.I enjoyed this offering immensely . Though a different style , fans of L'amour's work should also try Robert B parker's magnificent trilogy , Brimstone , Appaloosa and Resolution

Great stories, if you like westerns then you’ll love this. Great read for commuting, fun for the grimmest train journey.
