Drano Max Gel is my go-to for clogged sinks and showers. It cuts through hair and soap scum quickly—usually clears the drain within 30 minutes. I love that it’s thick and sinks right through standing water. Very effective and easy to use. A must-have for every home!

EDIT: I just got more of this and the carrier was not careful with the box and when I picked it up it was moist and had a strong, almost like scented bleach smell. STILL washing my hands as while it's not burning, it's tingling. When I actually use the gel I wear gloves, but you don't expect the box you receive it in to be damp on the bottom! _______________________________________________ My experience and my skill set! First, I'm a woman in her 70's who has had to figure out stuff on her own (basically online) I had a slow running shower. It would drain, but even a quick ten minute shower would fill the tub about up to my ankles and when you think of that water is from whatever is backing up your drain...ew. IT would drain within about 15 mins after shower, but hated standing in any water. Like others have said, I would IGNORE the directions and leave in longer. When I take a shower tonight, I will see if the water is moving as fast as I want it to. I notice in the bullet points, it says you can leave product in overnight. I got two of the LARGE 80 oz bottles. I put HALF of one in and let sit 30 mins, didn't add water, I then just poured the other half in. I let that sit about an hour and half, so total two hours and used a whole bottle. I thought about leaving in longer, some said they left in overnight, so like 8 hours, some said they left in 24 hours. Well, I live in a one bedroom condo with one bathroom, one shower/tub, so.... I shut the door as I have two curious cats while it did it's thing. I started pouring really hot tap water at first, wasn't really moving that fast, but I did that a bunch of times, then I heated water in a small pot (I have cats underfoot and in my 70's and have to walk from kitchen to bathroom with uber hot water, so I didn't want to take biggest pot to try to do this). I noticed after a few times with really hot water (when bubbles start to form at bottom of pot, doesn't have to be rolling boil), the water was going down quicker. Makes sense. I figure the gel LOOSENS it, but the more and the HOTTER the water, the quicker through the pipes. Now, if I had LEFT it sitting for 8 or 24 hours before putting water down, would it have helped more? MAYBE. But I think the close to boiling water being poured in helped move it along. The gel is obviously strong. I actually have some safety goggles someone gave me and i used plain disposable gloves just to be cautious. AND I would keep your kids and pets AWAY til all is resolved and you've cleaned out any residue from tub/shower. TIP! While I am sure this LOOSENED clog, built up shampoo or soap, the BOILING WATER is what always seems to really make it work. SUGGESTION Once you do clear your drain, every day or so just take a pot of boiling water and pour down drain! THIS will help keep clear longer and build up down especially if it's just from product buildup. Can't say if there is a lot of hair clogging drain (I have very short fine hair, so it's product build up from shampoo and soap) the hot water alone would help. But putting boiling water down drain at least every few days or even week, well think about it, boiling water dissolves. _________________________ Bottomline: after doing several of the small pots of super hot water and then running the tub with the stopper open for awhile, the water is moving pretty darn fast. But my takeaway after reading a ton of reviews, leave it in longer than it says. I didn't even have STANDING water, tub/shower was empty of water when I poured in and it still took me MANY pots of water (I could tell it was starting to go down as it kind of burbled/bubbled) to get the job done.

I have been using this product for almost three years in various clogging situations. Overall, I am confident to say that it is effective in tackling tough clogs. I used it to clear out a hard-to-remove blockage in my shower drain that was made up of dirt, soap scum, and hair. I saw a difference when I poured the gel down the drain and let it for approximately half an hour. The fact that the water began to flow freely and without backup suggested that the clog had been removed. As with any chemical cleaner, it’s important to handle it with care. The bottle includes comprehensive safety instructions, and it’s crucial to wear gloves and avoid direct contact with the product. Drano contains strong chemicals that can be harmful if not handled properly, so always follow safety precautions and avoid contact with skin or eyes. Additionally, ensuring proper ventilation while using the cleaner is a good practice, as some users find the smell of Drano unpleasant. Its adaptability is one of its best qualities. It works well with many kinds of drains, such as those found in bathtubs, showers, and sinks. I also tested it in my kitchen sink, which frequently accumulates grease and food particles. The outcome, with the clog entirely removed and the drain operating freely, was equally astounding. While the product is highly effective, it’s worth noting that the chemicals in Drano can harm the environment. If you’re concerned about environmental impact, you might want to consider alternative eco-friendly options for regular drain maintenance. The 80 oz bottle provides multiple uses, making it a cost-effective solution for maintaining clear drains. I considered this product to be a useful addition to my cleaning supplies for the home because of its strong performance. As an alternative to manual drain cleaning methods, this product is dependable and saves time and effort.

A solid option for standard drain clog. Use all safety practices labeled to avoid unwanted exposure- cover hands, eyes and keep area well ventilated area. Bottle has safety cap to secure unwanted entry or spills- the smaller size bottle is ideal for easy lift control and pour purposes.. and it fits on storage shelf. GEL is a BIG perk.. bc of consistency, it slowly moves and clings to issues vs. splash the clog as it races by! Easy to use: after running hot water thru the system.. pour needed gel amount down drain and wait! We start with x2 cups of gel for extended length of time. Following the listed tips- we rinse with boiling water to aid removal of soaps, cleaners, shampoos. As stated: If clog is not fully clear-repeat process x1-2 more rounds. We find it so helpful to use a drain hook device to continually stir and dislodge any portion of clog before/after each treatment. Be patient- it may take a bit of time to be effective but, it works!! Overall, the actual GEL has proven the best option bc of ability to cling onto debris and work the problem.. I find with little trial/error- this can aid common clog scenarios. X4 star for overall results- x5 star for gel option and pricing. Hoping info can help others.. stay safe everyone.

It didn’t have the standard safety cap and the freshness seal was missing. Different consistency than the dran-o I’ve used in the US. Didn’t do much to unclog the drain.
