Wish I could have put a self winding head on my Ego weed eater, but they’re not compatible. That said, this is replacing an older style head, and this new one seems a lot easier to work with. Install was fairly straightforward and didn’t take long.

I just installed the AH1300 EGO 15" STRING TRIMMER BUMP HEAD on my ST1500SF trimmer. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. It helps to have a deep socket or extension for a ½” or 13mm socket to remove the retaining nut. Thanks to a previous reviewer I left the flange (the large washer under the spool) in place after removing the old AH1530 trimmer head I was replacing. Every fit together beautifully, The instructions are relatively clear but could have added a bit more detail in a few places.. It definitely helps to have some practical experience maintaining mechanical equipment. The string bump release is far superior to that of the AH1530 it replaced. (The AH1530 was the worst trimmer head I have ever used.) I’ve only used the AH1300 once, so I have no idea how difficult it is to load, but considering I had to frequently disassembly my previous AH1530 head, to free stuck line, a trimmer head designed to be manually loaded (rather than the AH1530 “speed-loader”) ought to be much easier. If not, I’ll add to this review. Some reviewers said it did not work on the ST1500SF trimmer. They were mistaken or didn’t install it correctly. I checked the EGO Power+ website and confirmed that it is made for the ST1500SF. I am always amazed how some people get angry when they can’t figure out how something works, especially when they can return it for a full refund.

Pro's - Very prompt delivery - much appreciated. The unit works well once it is installed. Con's - No washer included in the packaging. Other readers have noted this second point - it is important! Once you've opened the package, carefully remove the instructions from the package with your right hand, and with your left hand, open up your garbage can and insert the instructions into the garbage can. The instructions are in some cases confusing, and in others, outright incorrect. Fortunately, it's not hard to figure out how to install the unit - an oil filter wrench or a large pipe wrench will be helpful.

I have the the EGO ST-1500 trimmer, which I really like, and after years of service, the String Trimmer Head wore down so much that I had to replace it. If you order this replacement, the included instructions are over-complicated, which at first scared me off. To Replace: 1. Remove the old Spool Retainer and Spool as if you're just putting in some new string. 2. Pop-off the old "Bump Knob." It can be just pull it off, but if need be, use a screw driver. 3. Use a 1/2 inch socket on the Spool Base retaining nut. The instructions are really bad trying to explain 16 steps (yes 16), and there's also some dude on YouTube using an angle grinder to remove the Trimmer Head, which is not only overkill, but it's either purposely misleading or the guy just doesn't know what he's doing. The instructions also say to use a glove to hold onto the Spool Base when loosening the 1/2 nut, but if you have weak hands from arthritis, injuries, or an other reason, use a large screwdriver like I did.

This manufacturer is a life saver it offers parts the original manufacturer Kobalt does not supply these parts and wants you to buy a complete 24v weed eater

This head works so much better than the one that come on the trimmer when I bought it. From the day it was new, it was always difficult to get the line to pay out. This one come out with one moderate tap and it's very easy to install new line on it. My only reservation is that I wonder how long it will continue to work flawlessly which is why I only gave 4 starts on durability.

This is not the easy load string head. You have to take it apart to load string. No support videos. NOTHING. Stay far away!

Super! I attached the Erbauer EGT18LI, they match perfectly, they are identical to the one from EGO. I didn't expect to find this detail (considering that the Erbauer company does not sell parts for its products).

This is the replacement for the st1500-s! Perfect fit, easy to follow installation instructions, and same quality as the original.

I would just like to point out to my fellow Canadians. That these parts fit the Mastercraft trimmers too.

This was the right part for my ego 15 inch trimmer. It was very easy (simple) to install took about five minutes. The lady at EGO parts department was very helpful and even told me to order on Amazon It is as good if not better than the original part.

Quick release on the trimmer. Not exactly what I was expecting for feeding the string. You have to open load instead of straight through feeding while turning the head. Different but works.
