I'll make this short and sweet and get right to the point. I could type paragraphs about my background working in lawn and garden and repairing gas tools but that's irrelevant. On to what is; TL;DR great mower, has many positives over a gas engine. REGISTER YOUR MOWER/CHARGER/BATTERY as soon as you get it. EGO customer service was great to me but it would have been a pain if I hadn't registered. Here are the selling points that led me to buy this battery powered (scoff!) mower. So far it's lived up to them very well; 1) Storage. I can blow this thing off with compressed air and it folds up neatly into a small form factor and I can store it in my house. I wouldn't dare try that with a gas powered mower. This thing fits neatly against the wall by my back door and is extremely easy to unfold when I need to mow. 1 side lever and 2 clamps to extend the handlebar and I'm off. I don't have an outdoor shed to store tools in so... this was a big thing for me. 2) Quiet. This thing is pretty damn quiet, it just sounds like a fan on wheels. I'm not worried about pissing off the neighbors when I mow later in the evenings to escape the heat and it's just nice to be able to hear myself think while I'm using it. 3) Ability to mow at normal pace. This is the one I was concerned about. I didn't get a self-propelled option (I'm not that bougie) but I've had to put off mowing longer than I like (I try to mow weekly) and even in dense tall grass I have no issues powering right through it. The mower has an internal mode where it senses the blade speed reducing and kicks in a high-current mode until you get through the tough stuff. I can hear and feel it power-up. It's nice that it automatically goes back down in output to minimize battery consumption. 4) longevity. What's the point in having a battery powered mower if I have to recharge it after every single pass, right? I opted for the 7.5 Ah battery to mitigate the changeover from gas and I am not missing the extra mess, noise, or smell over this thing. I had some issues with the battery but I'll discuss that more later in the "cons" but TL;DR Ego customer service warrantied it and I had a new one within a week so that's a HUGE plus for me, that they stand behind their product. I have a 1/3 acre lawn and I can get through it with power to spare on the 7.5Ah battery. I'm not mowing super thick southern grass like I did in Charleston (centipede etc...) and I mow weekly but so far I'm not missing gas at all in this regard. Things that I've observed since I've owned it that I would change if I had my druthers but really aren't cons so to speak. 1) The blade material is kind of soft. This thing is by no means a commercial grade product and you need to pick up things in your yard before mowing. I have a tree in the back yard and I've missed the occasional twig here and there. The blades become dinged pretty easily but I can file them right back out with no issues. 2) I have mixed feelings about the deck design. On one hand it sheds grass very easily, I don't have to clean it, even if it clumps a bit when it's damp/dewy outside. I like that it's plastic and it seems to hold up MUCH better than the blades do. I am not worried about it rusting away or requiring replacement at all. but the con here is the single-handle deck height system. The whole mower is light, maybe 60-75% of the weight is just in the battery alone. It's super easy to push and navigate. 3) Single-point deck height adjustment... The deck height adjust, while convenient, places the front wheels so far in front of the mower I can't really get that close to what I'm mowing. The sides end right by the blade and I can get up close there but not at all in the front. I'd rather have to individually adjust each wheel's height and gain some coverage at the front. I don't change deck height all that often. I've got a nice DeWalt string trimmer so I'm covered in this regard but still, I'd change it if I could. 4) battery charge time. So the set I bought came with the fast charger. True to promise It charges the 7.5Ah battery in under an hour. It's a little noisy but not a deal breaker for me. My DeWalt fast charger is just as loud and I appreciate that it has a fan to cool the battery while it charges. Customer Support/issues. The only problem I've had so far is, right out of the box, the battery wouldn't fully charge to all 5 bars. I didn't think much of it as the first couple of weeks I had no issue mowing my yard with plenty of juice left over. by the end of the third week I couldn't even do half and I was a little irritated but when I got online to file a warranty claim, I was directed to a phone number. Much to my surprise I was able to get my battery covered very easily, Ego sent a new one through UPS and I had it within a few days, they didn't ask me to return the old one so now I have a spare-ish that'll last for a little bit at least. The new 7.5Ah battery is fantastic and it's clear the first one had a dead bank or some other internal issue.

Love this mower! No pull cord (I’m an 83 year old woman) and self propelled! Battery life is great! I can usually do the whole yard and the battery is still perking along.

This is my second purchase of an Ego electric mower. Quiet, powerful and easy to use with grass-bagging, mulching or side discharge options, it makes mowing less of a chore. I really prefer this brand! I bought this second mower thinking my first one had stopped working. I had the old mower checked out and discovered I just need to replace the Lithium-Ion battery! It seems that the old battery holds a charge, but the charge isn't strong enough to power the mower. I will purchase a new battery for it and get another 7+ years. I have a walk-out basement level, so I am keeping the newer mower and I am happy to have a second mower to keep in my backyard shed. Both mowers can be stored in an upright position with the handle folded down, which takes up considerably less floor space in the garage or shed. Now I have 2 great mowers with none of the ecological impact or smelly messiness of a gas-powered machine!

Although lighter than a full-metal, gasoline motor mower, this is still a heavy machine. Of course, with a 56V battery, you're going to get a lot of weight. My old plug-in mower was much lighter, but also difficult to maneuver, so they cancel themselves out. The cut is nice and smooth, although the extended front of the mower means that a good couple of inches are left unmowed when you come to a fence or wall head on. I have only used the mulching mode, and the clippings are tiny. I haven't tried mowing in the dark, so I can't say how much the headlights do for you, but the controls are easy to see and the battery is easy to pop in and out. My only real complain so far is that the handle has to be fully extended for the mower to run, and at 5'6" it makes the handle height about four inches higher than I'd prefer. All the safety features will keep you from leaving it running, and it cuts out immediately when you release the handle, so you shouldn't run into any problems with it turning on and off. I've only used it a few times, so I can't say how reliable the battery is, although the charger is impressive--it even has a built-in fan and keeps you informed as to the charging status. I'll come back to this review when the battery deteriorates to give some idea of longevity.

Great mower. When it says it has the power of gas it is true. This mower even has more power and does a better job than some of the gas mowers I have owned. I have a bigger corner lot yard so I purchased another batter to make sure I had enough battery to do the whole yard front and back in one mowing. I live in Florida so in the summer the grass is much thicker and grows faster. The battery last so long I can actually get almost the whole yard done on one battery and only use a quarter of the second one and in the fall and winter months can do the whole lawn with only one battery. It is more than great quality and well made. Has a battery power level indicator on the back so while you are moving you can clearly see how much battery you have left. So good and efficient I get the whole lawn done in half the time. Very happy with this purchase. Well worth the money. This mower will last a long time and does a great job. Would definitely recommend. Sorry I went with a cheaper brand and option earlier that did not do even half as good as job a this Ego mower does and only lasted a year. You can not go wrong with this mower. Would definitely recommend.
