I have an Ego self-propelled push mower and blower, so easy to go this route. Really glad I bought the self-winding version - that is my favorite function. I spend 1/2 the time I used to on weed wacking because the string management is so much easier. All you have to do is cut a 14' length of string, feed it in, and push the button. No more winding and adjusting. Also, the string length self adjusts without bumping - I was pleasantly surprised how well implemented this feature is. String seems to last longer while doing more work with this trimmer. It's quite powerful compared to other electric trimmers (including ones that are from from a power cord directly) using the same string. I use both 5Ah and 10 Ah batteries with this trimmer; the 10 Ah lasts 3-4 times as long as the 5 Ah when I'm cutting heavy weeds and small saplings down by the lake or by the woods. This is a powerful trimmer for the homeowner and after a year of ownership, I am extremely pleased with it. However; make sure you get a version with a strap if you're going to doing more than 20 minutes of work with it. And especially if you use the 10 or 12 Ah battery.

I bought this trimmer to replace a Stihl FS-91 gas trimmer. Not only is the EGO much lighter (with a 5.0 Ah battery), it is also much faster than the Stihl. It's not because it's more powerful. It's the Line IQ feature of the EGO. The Line IQ keeps the string the right length all the time, so the trimmer is working at its full 16-inches of string all the time, and I don't have to spend any time tapping it on the ground to adjust the string length. I am amazed at how much time that saves! The EGO powered through 12"-high weeds on low without slowing down, handled edging some 8"-high periwinkle without a problem, and did a great job doing away with the weeds growing up though a natural stone pathway. After using it for about half an hour to finish what took me 45 minutes with the Stihl, I still had five bars on a 5.0 Ah battery. I'm impressed! The throttle is much more forgiving than with a gas trimmer; it's much easier to maintain a set speed, and the low- and high-speeds are handy, though I never needed the high speed beyond just testing to see if it worked. I don't know if this trimmer will last as long as the gas trimmers I've had, but it is so much more convenient, easy to use, and efficient that I am loving it while it does!

Great product, just as described and works as well as any gas powered trimmer I've used.

I was not disappointed. Easy assembly and operation. It feeds constantly so you don't have to bump or adjust trimmer wire. Loads easy so far a great method to add trimming wire. Durability is still to be determined. Cuts just as good as my gas and cord weeder except without the hassles. The power is way more than expected as it cuts right through grass and weeds no problems. Value is comparable. The battery has a long life and quickly recharges. The weight is comparable as well you should expect it to weigh a little due to the 56v battery. Over all I'd say so far a great buy and addition to the tool shed...AAA...No more cords no more gas!!

EGO products are powerful and work great. So far, I have the string trimmer, leaf blower, and lawn mower. Highly satisfied with all of them.

I've been using an Ego weed whacker for years. Very effective, great product .. but honestly, I'm not a youngster anymore, and the thing is heavy. And I HATE the bump-feeding line; just annoying. My last one worked on .95 line, but I usually used .65 because it just ran better overall with it. I mean, it did its job great, no real complaints, but ... Then I got this latest/greatest EGO trimmer ... and just WOW! First, feeding the line into the reel and winding ... is PUSH BUTTON easy!!! Then ... NO MORE FREAKING BUMPING!!! EVER!!! The older model would take me about an hour to edge and weed whack the entire lawn. Tedious, yeah, but not really hard. Except, well, I'm not getting any younger. THIS baby -- with its carbon-fiber rod, is incredibly light, so even i Florida's 95°/4000% humidity, I could zip through the chore in less than half the time, didn't get worn out carrying it, didn't even have to stop for breaks like I usually do. It REALLY made the job enough easier that I'd almost call it fun ... and I only hesitate because I don't want the missus to think I enjoy doing the yard work because of the obvious fallout ... I'm NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HAVING FUN!! SO .... this was about as close to fun as you can get and still say you were doing work! Good jog, Ego! Oh, and for those concerned about battery life: I used the same 5ah battery for mowing, then trimming, then cleanup with the blower ...and the battery finally quit as I was de-leafing our 900sq ft back deck .... so .... PLENTY of power in one 5ah battery to do the whole bloody yard!

This grass trimmer is very powerful and can handle just about any garden you could throw at it. Very pleased with this product it seems very robust and is no toy. However be warned this strimmer is quite heavy. The battery life is excellent with the EGO 2.5Ah version.

Purchased to replace a Cub Cadet SS270 trimmer. This trimmer has much more power than the gas model I replaced. A really nice feature is the design of the head. The head (unlike my Cub Cadet) has no place where long grass can get caught up and tangled, which was a frequent issue with the Cub Cadet. I've been using with a 5ah battery from my leaf blower, which gives it plenty of power to complete all trimming on my 1+acr property (at least 1.5 hours on a charge, but never ran out yet). I'll be looking to purchase a 2.5ah battery to make the overall unit a little lighter, but with the 5ah it's still not as heave as the gas model. Not having to keep and mix fuels is also nice
