this is a terrific hedge trimmer. I previously owned a gasoline powered trimmer but got tired of dealing with a carburetor issue whenever I needed it. That and the fact that it was heavy and with all the use that I gave to the trimmer, it wore you out by the time you were down cutting a significant number of ornamental grasses and hedges. This trimmer is incredibly light weight. And I do mean light weight. Compared to the gasoline powered trimmer, it feels like it is at least half the weight, if not even more than that. The carbon rail makes quite a difference. It has a surprising amount of power for a battery powered machine and easily cut everything I needed to cut including some hedge branches that were around 1/2" - 5/8" in diameter. If I am going to cut anything larger than that, I generally will use lopping shears or even a chain saw depending on their thickness but for most folks doing general pruning and trimming of ornamental grasses and hedges and shrubs, this thing is a winner! The only thing I could suggest as a minor drawback is that I believe the blade could be even sharper than it already is from the manufacturer. Out of the box it cuts just fine, but I like to keep my trimmers very, very sharp as they cut cleaner. The blade assembly is easy to sharpen however and there are instructions included with the trimmer as to how to do this. I went over mine with a small file and it is now definitely sharp. for the price, I believe this a good value and I am quite pleased with it!

And with two speed settings—the maximum speed is 3,200 rpm—you can go faster when you need more cutting power, and slower when you want to extend battery runtime or you are carrying out more precise cuts. I like this hedge trimmer in that you need to have both hands on the device for it to work. I know I had gotten lazy with a prior hedge trimmer in the past and had some near mishaps. Two hands provides control but also a measure of safety. (this unit could easily cut off a finger placed foolishly on the blade while cutting.) You will also enjoy as well being able to rotate the cutting blade in multiple different angles which makes angling the hedges and side cutting much easier. The power is extreme and it cuts very large (1.2 inch!) branches without a problem. Decided the heavy duty HT2500 was worth the extra money over the HT2600 as it is heavier and runs at a lower slower speed even with the bushless motor being two speed. I would recommend this tool without hesitation. It might be a bit heavy (12.5 pounds) which may be a factor for some of the ladies out there but I feel the tool is well balanced and still manageable. The HT2501 hedge trimmer by EGO is more expensive than the 26 inch model (HT2600) which is a little confusing. The HT2501 has a more powerful two speed motor an d slightly larger cutting capacity (1.25 inch vs. 1.2 inch for the HT2600) You will need to decide if the extra expense is worth it for you. I could tell the HT2500 was a heavier duty unit in every way. I'm counting on the higher purchase price of a beefier unit will result in being a "one and done" lifetime purchase. I am happy with my decision.

It's such a relief to use a hedge trimmer that's powerful enough as well as long enough. This cuts through thicker branches that my last 2 trimmers would get stuck on. The battery is awesome, and though it's a bit heavier than I'd like it's so worth it

This thing is wild. It absolutely chomps through anything that fits between the teeth and it will chew anything that doesn't. 1/2" branches? LOL. 1" saplings? Gimme a sec. 2" trees? Hold my beer. 8" trunks? I'll give it a go if you got the time. This thing is scary powerful. Been using these for decades and this is the first hedger I feel I actually need chainsaw chaps for. It is extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. That all said, like my other EGO products, it is extremely precise, I've used it on some topiaries with surprisingly accurate results. Beautiful scary.

Really lightweight and easy to use. They are super sharp and trim my hedges with ease. Would highly recommend them with the ego 2.0AH battery. I also have larger battery for my mower but that would be super heavy to use on this tool.

Nice length of the blade, but still a bit heavy.
