Studied electronics for 2 years in high school (many years ago) and I consider myself a maker. This kit has a ton of stuff to play around with, and the programing is learnable for someone not that computer literate. I would recommend watching YouTube for any tutorials on programing arduino which should get you on a solid footing, and there are videos covering each of the lessons included in the kit as of 2/5/25. Lot of fun, and opening new worlds!

This was a nice starter kit- I was leary to go with anything but the official arduino kit, but that one was $65, and this one was on sale for $43. Plus this one came with more sensors, an AC power adaptor, and a nice plastic multi compartment box for storing everything. The arduino clone board works perfectly, and worked with the Arduino IDE without needing drivers on my mac. (note: you do have to select the port in the IDE) I've not used everything in the kit yet but there was enough to get me going. If I had one complaint, it would be that the PIR sensor module seemed unusable - the pins aren't labeled, and I couldn't get it to accurately sense motion. If you're building a motion sensing project, I can highly recommend the $13 parallax PIR module. Overall this was a great starter kit and I suspect I'll be buying more Elegoo products. SPECIAL NOTE: This is a 'clone' of the Arduino Uno Rev3 - that's legally ok, since Arduino stuff is all open source and free to copy. HOWEVER - The Arduino organization is responsible for the design of this and future boards, and also of the software used to program it. When you buy an "official" Arduino product, you're helping to fund further development of the platform. Since I bought this 'clone' board, I donated to the official project (It's easy to do this, they ask you when you go to download the software) I feel this is a win-win - I got a great starter kit at a great price, but still helped the official organization that creates the reference design and IDE. Please consider doing the same!

This kit is a GREAT and inexpensive alternative to buying an expensive arduino kit. Any one who is interested in learning about micro controllers and how they work should get this kit.The product comes with a CD which has PDF lessons, libraries and code. There are some issues with the PDF tutorials. I just don't want beginners to get discouraged if the programs are not working properly. If you have a problem, go online, and find a solution pretending what you got in your hand is a Arduino Uno, not a Elegoo Uno. The programs, code, projects are all similar. It always worked for me. I have found some issues with lesson 32, and would like to give people some feedback. Lesson 32 Issues: There is a arduino file named "With_Remote" in the Lesson 32 folder. When the comments on the code say // Rotate CW it really means Rotate Counter Clockwise. When the comments on the code say // Rotate CCW it really means Rotate Clockwise. Also, in order for the project to work the way it is supposed to, you will need to push the "VOL+" and "VOL-" buttons on the remote control. (There are no UP and DOWN buttons on the remote control , as mentioned in the code comments.) Lastly, if you are getting a "'TKD2' was not declared" compiler error ( you will know what i mean when you see it ) , you will need to go to C Drive > x86 > Arduino > libraries > RobotIRremote > src. After clicking on the folder named src you will see 2 files named IRremoteTools.cpp and IRremoteTools.h. Cut these 2 files and paste them somewhere else ( on your desktop for example). These files conflict with other files in the Arduino library and dont let Lesson 32 work the way it is meant to work. Just dont delete them permanently!! You might need them later. I will post more updates on the kit as time passes.

Overall this is a good started set, it comes with enough to do many beginner projects. The Elegoo UNO board has performed just as well as the real Ardruino board. I have been testing every project on this board and a legit Arduino board and have found no differences at all. This board works perfectly with the Arduino IDE. Most of the included parts are great and work perfectly for beginner projects, however I do have some complaints and problem with a few parts. The included resisters do work, and show the correct resistance when tested with a multi-meter, however they are some of the cheapest resistors I have ever seen, the wire is so ridiculously thin that it is annoying to insert into the breadboard without bending them, also when you do get it inserted they are so small that the bread board does not grip them well, I have had to wiggle them around and change slots on the breadboard to find the tightest slot in order to get a solid connections. The included Mosfet transistors are very small and weak, using them for the standard DC motor tutorial caused them to get extremely hot and burn out, I replaced them with stronger mosfets. I had trouble with the rotary encoder, I am not entirely sure if it is defective or if the problem is on my end, it works, but not well. I have tried almost everything from this kit, I will come back and update this review if I encounter any more problems. Another thing that bothers me is that they do not include any technical specifications on any of the parts, no diagrams showing what pins are for what, no information on what the part is rated for. You can find this information for most of the parts by googling the part number, but some parts dont have any identifying marks. The pictures I added show a real Arduino board, but I did test everything with both the Elegoo UNO and the real UNO and worked the same on both, I just forgot to take the picture when the Elegoo board was connected. Overall this has been a fun starting kit and I do enjoy it and feel it was a good purchase.

carefully package and everything came as mentioned. But Resistors are very hard to identify without labels. Elegoo should make the resistor's identifier color clearer.
