This Bible the ESV Single Column Journaling Bible (Black) came exactly as described. I bought this for the single column text and the note space on the sides. There is NO concordance and NO notes or study helps, which is what I have been looking for. The binding is sturdy and strong and Smyth Sewn. I read through the Bible at least once each year and it is the ESV's turn to be read this year. I like to start with a brand new bible each year that I do this and often make notes based on a theme for the year. This year I will be looking for the attributes of God as I go through the Bible, the side lines line up perfectly with the text, the paper is thick enough to make notes with good pens that don't bleed through to the other side too much, takes highlighting well if you use some decent highlighters. For $28 dollars you can't go wrong with this bible. The text is very readable and spaced nicely all around. I have grown to LOVE a good single column text and find it hard to go back now that I have started using single column text bibles. I have been copying my notes digitally but I find it hard to sit down and get into the bible on my computer screen, while I LOVE my bible software there is something about a comfy chair, a good cup of coffee and a good readable bible that I can jot notes in along the way. That is what I love about this Bible. It is probably a tad big for my liking to take with me everywhere I go. I chose the hardcover which is strange for me as I have an affinity for fine leathers, only because it is easier to make notes while sitting in my comfy chair. The bible is sturdy enough to pass the test of time and will one day be passed on to my children or grandchildren. My ONLY complaint isn't so much with the bible as it is with my failing eyes. I wish the text was like an 8.5/9, I know that would have added considerable bulk to the bible so I understand why it is a little less than that. I would recommend this Bible if you are looking for just Bible text, no notes, no concordance. A bonus that I didn't know about is the Bible reading plan in the back. This is the same Bible reading plan that I have been using for years and really enjoy the format. Once through the Old Testament, twice through the Psalms, and twice through the New Testament. I will hopefully update this with some pictures after I have spent some time making notes and highlights in the Bible. Great deal for a great Bible. If ONLY I could get Tyndale to publish the NLT in this format I would probably be done buying bibles!

Just picked up two of these, as I saw the price had dropped to $20 a piece. I've long been a fan of journal bibles, as it is nice in personal study or in Church to have a place to write things down to reflect on them later, but don't like the idea of carrying around a notebook. For years I used a KJV with offered columns similar to this, but they were not lined and the Bible was massive. A few years ago I gave up on that Bible and started using a study Bible, until now. The cover of this Bible is a hard cover, but it is the same texture as Moleskin notebooks. It does offer an elastic strap to keep it closed, which is great if you are throwing it in a bag or something, so the pages don't get bent up. The spine is embossed with the version, publisher, that it is a Bible. The edges of the paper are white, not gold, which is something else I like. Other than that, there is nothing else on the outside, so it has a very clean look. The overall size of the Bible does not feel to big in your hand. For some, I would say they may look at it and think it has an odd shape, as horizontally it is longer than a standard Bible, due to the journal columns. However, this is actually a nice feature, as if you lay the Bible on a table, it stays open, partly due to the dimensions and the cover being hard back. As far as the print goes, it is smaller than I think some people prefer, but no smaller than the Bible I'm transitioning away from, maybe even a little larger. One downside is not having red letter print, but most of the Bibles I use don't offer that and sometimes I find it hard to read anyways. The journal columns offer a lot of space to write thoughts down and are lined for those of us that are a little OCD. I can't say the paper is super thick, but using a ball point pen on it does not really show through to bad. Overall I think this is one of the nice journal Bibles I've seen and used. For the price of $20 you can't beat getting one for yourself or giving one as a gift either. Lastly, I know a lot of people prefer a specific version of the Bible. Over the years I've tended to lean towards the ESV, as they seem more open with Bible apps and other material sharing their version for free and allowing you to download content.

I gifted this item. She absolutely loved it and was so happy with the wide margin for notes. The leather feels soft but really sturdy too.

Great quality of a Bible! Easy to read and I love the opportunity to take notes! I would recommend this 100%. PS — those bookmarks are not included, I bought them elsewhere.

Click to play video This is my first time ever purchasing a journaling Bible. I love the simple black color of the cover and the elastic band is awesome to keep everything together. I have differently put in a lot of notes and tip in vellum, paper and transparent to capture notes and pictures of everything that I’m learning as I read the entire Bible for 2024. So far it’s held in pretty good. The color of the paper is actually more relaxing on the eyes since I spent hours a day reading it. One of the main reasons I got this compared to some of the other more decorated covers is because of the elastic band and because I knew I wouldn’t get tired of looking at the outside cover. There are so many different design covers out there. If I feel moved to change it, then I can look up ideas to get crafty with sticker paper. My one and only thing I’m not 100% loving is that the words of Jesus are not in red but I can see where it may be difficult to read, depending on highlighting and underlining.

Paper not as expected, it is light and forget about the markers and colur pens even with pens it is visible on the other sides... Thought of returning but because it is a bible so kept it. Quality of the paper not worth the money
