I have always wanted a bible that would withstand the test of time and use. My old bible is pretty worn and the faux leather cover is falling apart. So, I decided I wanted a real leather bound bible that I could use and also hand down at some point. This bible did not disappoint. The leather is thick but not so much where it is difficult to open, manage or add unnecessary weight. Thick, but supple is the best way to describe it. I wanted it darker and also condition the leather. Petroleum Jelly and a hairdryer did the trick. (Old Marine Corps secret to condition leather boots) it came out fantastic! Note, be careful not to get the jelly on the pages as it will soak it up easily. The leather band used as a 3x wrap is the same leather and much longer than I needed. No problem. After I cut off the excess, I used the pice to make 2 page markers. (See pics) As you can see, I added green stone large hole beads (Amazon) to finish off the wrap and 2 page markers. I think it came out grate! 3 beads and green for the Irish trinity…. ☘️ Just my way to personalize it. I almost went with white stones and think that would also look nice. I read somewhere that a person complained about the edges of the leather not cleanly cut and leaving frayed little pieces. Yes, it does but VERY minimally. In fact, so little that if I hadn’t remembered that review, I don’t think I would have notice. Overall, I love the Bible. It’s beautiful and feels good in my hand. I like that I was also able to personalize the look of it to make it mine. :). God bless…. (Isaiah 40:31)

I have a number of Bibles and through the years my favorite translation has been NIV. About a year ago I discovered ESV and I now prefer this over all the other translations. The two ESV Bibles I have is the ESV Thinline Bible (Flap with Strap) and the larger ESV Single Column Journaling Bible. Both of these are Outstanding. The reason I say this is I like to have a Bible without any extras, no maps, no "helps", no extra stuff to take away from just reading the Word. (So many Bibles have the pages full of references, if I wanted this I'd buy a Bible with them...) These Bibles don't have the extra stuff in them which is Great. Also the Journaling Bible has a large area to the right or left of the page which allows you to write so many notes and your own references. It is a single column Bible which is getting hard to find these days. The Thinline Bible is perfect for carrying in my briefcase. It is double column (again without the "helps" or references) and it gives you just what I want, the text. The thinline is smaller and much handier to haul around. (Generally all I could find is KJV Bibles that small). As far as the covers, they're Great as well. The neat thing about the flap is you don't have to worry about the pages getting wrecked while being transported. Also with the Thinline Bible I use a Rite in the Rain notebook cover that fits snugly but just right for this application. Rite in the Rain makes outstanding products (also available on Amazon) and their notebook covers are made by Tactical Tailor, made here in the US, established by a veteran who made things for the troops. I have many of the Tactical Tailor products and they're worth their weight. The cover I have (marketed by Rite in the Rain but made by Tactical Tailor) is their C9210T cover which will fit snugly around the Thinline Bible. (I use the cover to protect the Bible cover, etc.) Regarding the pages, they're not thin like so many Bibles but a much thicker paper and will hold up to a lifetime of use. As stated above I have quite a few Bibles and most are top grain leather, calfskin, etc. This is unabashed leather that is thick and hardy with a cover that is prone to scratching...but that just brings out the character in it. If I had only one travel Bible it would be the ESV Thinline with the Flap with Strap. If I had only one larger Bible to have around the house it would be the larger single column ESV Bible Flap with Strap. Basically, for me at least, these are the Perfect Bibles for my day to day use. I was surprised there weren't more reviews on this, but I feel you really can't go wrong for an excellent and accurate translation, very readable text, good paper stock and an incredible cover. Just can't say enough about it. Buy it...you'll be glad you did!

This ESV thin line natural leather bible with the wrap cover is perfect for on the go, since the wrap protects the pages. The font is an 8 point, which isn't too small and not too large either. I wear cheap reading glasses and can read it just fine, if that helps any of you looking at this bible. This bible comes less than an inch thick; full colored maps; a concordance; double column formatting; presentation pages; the words of Christ are in red and has a smyth-sewn binding and a ribbon book marker. The bible itself does lay pretty flat when opened and is small enough to pack in a bag or backpack for on the go. It also comes with a leather cord closure to keep the book closed. FYI, the leather cord closure may become a bit irritating to deal with, you have to wrap it around 2 and a half times before you can close it. The color on the box is NOT the color of the bible. The bible is more of a light - medium tan color, so if you're buying it for the dark rich color on the box, don't. Overall, it's a great bible and for the price, you can't go wrong!!

Play Video The size is perfect for every day carry. I wanted to replace a personal size Bible that I’ve had for years which now is falling apart and this Bible is perfect. I love the light tone leather with the flap and strap. One thing I’m super happy about is that this leather flap ESV has the “red letters” (words of Christ in red) which I had a hard time finding in this style Bible. I recommend this Bible if you need something easy to carry and a lightweight, thin personal size. The font is good. Since I now use reading glasses to read I do use my glasses just because my eyes need a little bit more clarity. This Bible just looks cool too.

I wanted a good quality ESV Bible I could fit in my purse to bring places. The leather is quite shiny, as others have mentioned. I buffed it lightly with a fine grit sandpaper to give it a more matte & weathered look then attached a bow to the strap. I love how it turned out!

The colour is quite a bit lighter than advertised, this copy is closer to camel than the darker brown shown in the advertisement. The Leather is very supple, but this is felt at the flap and with the strap only. The strap is longer than expected, wrapping around the book just over three times – none of my travel journals have a strap that long 😯 (😄) The Bible is fronted and backed by multiple pages of thicker glossy card, with a thicker dark brown, textured card on the inside of the covers, with the side glued to the leather cover doubly thick. This gives firmness to the book, stopping it from flopping down when reading using one hand to hold the Bible. The font size is not large but is comfortable for me when wearing my reading specks. Unfortunately the red lettering is faint, noticeably of much lower contrast than the surrounding black text, most notably where there are few red-lettered words in a verse. The word 'Come,' in Matthew 14:29 fairly fades away until you concentrate on it. There is the commonly experienced 'creased page' among the S's in the concordance, meaning that I'm going to have to cut the excess off personally, after unfolding the crease – China printing doesn't seem to be improving despite it being 2023. The Bible comes in a sturdy box, with the strap folded in its own plastic velcro fastened pouch. Tie a knot at one end, making sure to flatten it, then feed the other end through the two preprepared slits and around the Bible, and around the Bible, and around the Bible again (😄). Suggestion: If the strap is too long for you, decide where and how you want to tie it off, and how much of a tail you want, then cut off the excess with a modelling knife.

As someone attempting to realign myself, finding a nice transation with good print and a sturdy cover was pretty essential. This isn't one of those expensive copies that might seem almost ironically materialistic, this is plain and simple quality with some humility about it. The leather feels great, the strap is easy to work with. As for the content, I am loving the two column view with some minimal footnotes. Things said by God are highlighted in red, which, as I understand, is something often desired when picking a bible. As for the ESV, I spent a good while looking through the translations and to me, I've always been aware of passages from the KJV. Of course, the KJV is a little difficult to work with and due to it's older English, you may end up misreading certain parts. The ESV, however, is not one of the more "paraphrased" translations, such as the NLT, which often face criticism for being a bit thoughtless with certain translations. The ESV is essentially a very literal translation, considered more literal than the KJV but less so than the ASB, that uses modern, but not too informal, English to present it with greater clarity. Personally, I feel it's best to pick a bible you enjoy the sound of. If you enjoy the flow of the more literal texts or perhaps you just don't like the idea of a paraphrased text, the ESV is honestly a great choice. It's worth checking the texts out on a website which allows you to select between different versions to see which translation you find the best. Overall, this beautiful book is helping me slowly, but surely, find my way back. Couldn't recommend it more.
