These really do the job. I have experimented with other types of "grinders" There are the first that actually don't hurt my arthritic thumbs when I want to grind the salt or pepper. one little push of a button and the batteries not only go to work to grind directly on to my food, but there is also a small light that comes on so that I can actually see how much I am putting on my food.
