Following the instructions the install was simple and easy. Take your time and don't rush anything. This genuinely improved not just the ease of use of my printer but also improved the printers down time( no more manually leveling the ender 3 pro) Also my print quality sky rocketed ! I always had a problem with elephants foot on my prints ( I used feeler gauges at different sizes and tried different filaments) I was always close to getting rid of it but the CR touch eliminated it immediately. Honestly I love it and would recommend it to anyone even remotely considering it.

Ender 3 V2. The CR-touch has been working flawlessly and is a very nice upgrade to help mitigate a lot of the tediousness of bed leveling. It won’t decrease how often you need to level your bed, it just gives you feedback on which corners you need to lower or raise and it will tell you when it is level. It will also account for any warps in the bed. The silicone bed springs are however not really an upgrade. Theoretically they are supposed to make it so you don’t have to level your bed as much, but I found myself having to level my bed about the same amount if not more frequently. Luckily they are a free add on so they are not effecting my star rating. You will need to upgrade your firmware if you haven’t already. I upgraded with mrisco firmware. I’m about to embark on upgrading my bed springs to a more solid format from a thread I found on Reddit. Search: “Ender 3 V2 - Solid Bed and what it took to get me there ...“, if you are interested.

After installing, which is really easy, the whole thing went down hill. It's the firmware, and after a quick google search, this is a massive issue. Most of the posts I am reading basically end in returning the printer and chucking the whole thing. I am in the same boat. Installed hardware in 10 minutes, updated firmware to the correct firmware per Creality, and bam. "No TF card" error. Can't flash back to old firmware because it won't read the tf card, and can't print files. More than completely useless, it also destroys your printer. Hoping Creality will send me a new one. Very unhappy. UPDATE ~ I am so mad at this company. Hours wasted. Apparently Creality is terrible at writing software, whatever you do, don't download their firmware update. Their files are complete garbage. We have an ender 3 purchased for Christmas of '24. My suggestion is look high and low for well reviewed 3rd party firmware for your model. For now, if you have an ender 3, here is the scoop. Please understand that I am not a professional printer and can only share what I found, within my skill set. From what I understand, the newer ender 3's are basically older ender 3 pro's. At least the chip is. I have posted a photo of the main board. It is easy to see the version 4.2.2. but what you have to also see is the chip. If you look carefully you will see "GD32F303RET6". These are different chips than those that start with STM and are in older ender 3's. The Marlin firmware offered does NOT support the GD chip. So, I searched far and wide and found a 3rd party firmware that works wonders and all of my issues went away. Search for this "GDF-Ender3bltouchMarlin2.0.8.2-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V2.0.8.zip". you should find multiple threads with links to this download. Download that one and use that firmware if you have the 4.2.2 version and the GD chip. If you are having problems with getting the printer to run the firmware, I also learned this. Rename the file and put a number in front of the file name. Make sure you have moved all your files off of the sd card to a temp folder on your computer, format the sd card to 4096 bytes, rename the .bin file with a number in front, turn off the printer, insert the card, turn on the printer and it should load the firmware. After that loads, remove the sd card, erase the .bin file, and return all your files to the card. This basically completely fixed our issues. I do not have filament detection and just a bone stock Ender 3 purchased late 2024. Hopefully this will save you hours and hours of frustration. A final note, if you have a different Ender 3 (ie max, vs, etc.) all bets are off. I have no idea. I would check the chip and search before you take the plunge. Outside of that, now that the firmware is working, the bed leveling is superb! you still have to get close and stay close, but it manages warped beds, and uneven beds great. Very happy with its performance now. But hopefully Creality reads this and starts firing people.

It was a marathon to find the correct firmware for this device that I added to my stock Ender3: I seem to be a "pioneer" here, so your installation may be easier after reading this. Creality Customer service responded promptly and clearly, but it took several attempts to find firmware that worked. I report here that their service and my representative's language skills were excellent, despite what some naysayers have reported: Expect some delay in response, remembering they are not even in the same day of the week we are! Eventually the firmware file "GD-Ender-3HW4.2.2SW2.0.8.2CRTouchFilamentEuropeMulti.bin", worked well, and although the title suggests a Filament Monitor must be installed, it ignores the fact that I did not have one. Important parameters in selecting the firmware are main board revision ( Mine was 4.4.2) and the brand of microprocessor installed on the board. You may need a magnifier and good light to read the label on that IC, and mine began with "GD", which is reflected in the above firmware title along with the board revision. You will have to take off the cover of the controller to read the IC and board revision, as well as install the CR touch ribbon cable. While it is open, tuck the unused Z-axis switch cable out of sight. Remember to remove that Z axis limit switch, but beware that a crash into the build surface is no longer protected when setting the Z axis offset: Once you command a movement, it will complete that command even if you reverse the knob, so keep your finger near the power switch !! I now have a (ugly but harmless) divot in mine. A complication here is that this particular firmware defaults to native Chinese, making finding the language selection a bit challenging. The solution is to tap the main screen, and scroll down 6 lines, where if you tap, you will find the language selection which you can read. If your firmware is different, don't be afraid to "hack" at it a little bit. After installation and Z-Axis offset calibration it works well, and probes the bed in a more accurate 16 places than the 9 places probed by some of the other CR touch firmware. Also, some of the other firmware I tried caused the probe to sense the mat at or off the very edge of the build surface, where it is not accurate. The mechanical installation was easy (the CR touch bracket mounts underneath the removed fan/nozzle cover), and I improved appearance by removing the controller box completely to release the "snake skin" cable covering to enclose the leveler's ribbon cable inside, making it neater. You will need additional cable ties and some patience to carefully remove and reapply the protective fabric tape to restore it. The CR Touch works well and I am now a HAPPY maker.

So nice to no longer waste time manually leveling the print bed.
