I installed the module this afternoon in about 40 minutes, in direct sunlight and with a shallow angle from global horizontal incident (ghi). The Rind Doorbell Pro shows hardwired connection and the battery was at 72% in the Ring App. It seems like a successful installation. The same page for my 3rd Gen Stick-up cam says solar status connected rather than hardwired, so I am a little skeptical about how this item displays a simpler message about being connected to hardwired power. About 35 minutes after installation and the solar module is still in direct sunlight but the Ring App says the doorbell is now at 71% (1% lower than prior). I’m going to watch the Ring cam over the next couple of days to ensure that the charge is working.

i have a doorbell gen 2...It doesn't actually charge the doorbell, if it does, its at a trickle that is so slow that it doesn't register on the app at all. My battery percentage has been the same for 2 days at this point. If the solar panel isn't in direct sunlight, the doorbell will switch back to battery only mode, which just drains that battery. Yes, at night, it will use the battery power, it should, but the moment its not being hit directly by the sun, it switches. I understand that when not in direct sunlight, solar panels will charge items slower, but this comes to a complete stop when even clouds or a trees shadow covers the panel. Overall, it does actually work, but it doesn't work in the way i was hoping. I am still on the fence if ill be returning it or not.

I have a 1st generation updated version ring doorbell and was able to hook it up with no issues. My battery went from 87 to 95 in a matter of minutes. Please add the 1st generation (updated version) to the list that this solar panel works on because I didn’t see it on the list.

Works great. Easy to hook up. This is working well. Now i don't need to continually remove and recharge my device. Awesome to keep my doorbell charging. This solar panel is lightweight, durable and is easy to set up anywhere. I'm extremely impressed with the cost to performance ratio of this product. I'd buy another without question.

I did not like having to keep charging or replacing the batteries on my ring doorbell. It was very easy to connect the 5W Solar Panel for Ring Doorbell to the doorbell. It keeps the battery charged and was easy to mount to get the proper angle for the sun to hit the panel. So far it has been working great and i have no issues. This is a great product for your ring doorbell.

If you're like me, I imagine you get tired of changing out your Ring battery. Even with a backup battery, there's always having to go outside and make the switch. And unless I'm paying attention to the app, I won't even know when it actually goes dead. This solar panel takes all the guess work away. All it takes is a screw driver and some ingenuity (as in where to place the panel so it gets plenty of sun) Viola! I'm done worrying about it. This solar panel will keep the battery charged and the Ring doorbell active and responsive. No more cold pizza! That alone is worth the small effort it takes to hook it up and the peace of mind that come with it. And you only have to do it once. In this case, once is enough.
