Pardon the view of my office; to say it's cluttered would be putting it politely. It's said that 'Sitting is the new smoking' - we spend so much time sitting at our desks that it's bad for our health. Even standing part of the time is better in numerous ways; it straightens out your back and muscles and gets your circulation flowing better in different ways. I spend a lot of time at my computer desk and realized that this was not good for me. The proliferation of 'sit to stand' desks and workstations reinforces to me that this is getting to be pretty accepted wisdom. When I saw this I thought it would be a good idea; since I have two monitors I chose the larger size and it works out well for me. There is very little to do to set up this Electric Desk Converter. It is basically fully assembled with the exception of putting the keyboard shelf on (two thumb screws to attach it) and plugging the power supply and cord onto the motor / switch assembly. You will not find multiple diagrams showing which panel screws to which bracket using which screws. This is a really strong point as assembling things for me is not a way I enjoy spending my time. I spent more time clearing sufficient space on my desk than I did putting it 'together' with the two small things that need to be done. It's a breeze. This unit is fairly heavy so your desk should have a sturdy top. I cleared a space in advance which would let me put the desktop converter where it needed to go. You alsoo need to make sure your cables for the monitors, keyboard etc. are long enough to allow full movement of the desktop to its upper limits without pulling on the cord or stressing the connector plug-ins. This Electric Desk Converter is very sturdy. I have a 32" monitor mounted horizontally and a 23" mounted vertically, which is they way I always use them, and they both fit. The motor which raises and lowers the platform seems to be up to the task. I like the fact that when it reaches the top limit of travel that it shuts itself off; it doesn't just keep running and straining til the button is released - it gets to the top and stops. To me this is a small but significant indication of thoughtful attention to quality. My only slight gripe is that there should be a way to press a button one time and have the desktop converter go all the way up on its own without holding the button, since the desktop will stop itself at the limit already when you are holding the button down. Maybe it could travel most of the way down on one button press (MOST of the way, so you can be sure nothing has gotten beneath it) and then be lowered the last few inches with a manual button press. The 'desktop converter' surface seems to be the typical black laminated finish which is reasonably durable but in my experience can become stained with things like coffee mug rings etc. so I'd be careful of that. Perhaps a good spraying every so often with a furniture polish like Pledge could minimize the chances of that. The finish is very smooth as it is; rubber feet on the keyboard and monitor(s) hold them in place very nicely while the mouse just skates on the surface, if you choose to not use a mouse pad. I would use one however because prolonged mousing without one might wear the finish noticeably. I make a point to raise up the desktop every so often so I can work standing up for even ten minutes or so. (This is why a one-touch up-button would be so appreciated.) I believe this item is sturdy and durable enough to stand up to a good lifetime of use and I like knowing I'm not just sitting for hours on end at my desk.

This is a very substantial desk. It’s solidly made and comes assembled except for the keyboard stand which easily and simply attaches. It is heavy, but the size is what makes it the most cumbersome to carry, but fortunately I only had to set it up once. I was able to transport and set it up by myself. I’m using this in a shared workspace that I use at least weekly, and now my work office is finally as comfortable as my home office, and my office mate loves me for upgrading the office. I’ve hated returning to the office hugely because I had to sit all day. I tried standing but my monitors and especially my mouse and keyboard were just too low while standing. This desktop converter finally gives me the option to stand when I need to with everything in a comfortable height and position. I’m using with a lightweight dual monitor mount attached to the back and haven’t had any issues since this desk is so solid it holds everything securely in place. There are rubber feet at the bottom. The cord is about 10 ft long so it’s easy to find a plug within reach. The buttons to adjust the height are easy to use, and they’re quiet but can a soft buzz can be heard when adjusting, and it lowers and raises very slowly but still reaches the desired height within seconds. I like that the monitors are slightly elevated by default because that area is raised, but I’m also using a mounted dual monitor stand so am able to get my monitors to eye level, which is the most ergonomic. The keyboard area easily fits any keyboard plus a mouse, and it can also be used as general desk space, to write on for example, when needed. But I have a paperless job so only need it for my keyboard. There’s plenty of space on both levels to use like regular desk space. It can be lowered completely flat to the desk, so it only elevates the keyboard about half an inch, which isn’t a noticeable difference for me so far as how my wrists feel typing and using the mouse. I’m 5’2” so it easily adjusts to a perfect height for me but there seems to be plenty of height to accommodate taller people too.

I love this desk. It comes in two main parts - the upper deck and the base are one part, with the lower keyboard deck being the second. The lower deck attaches via two anchor points on either end, both of which are easy to position. They are secured in place by two nuts with handles; you do not need tools to put this together. Once powered, you will be able to lift the height using the up button and, unsurprisingly, lower it using the down button. At just over 6 feet, I need my monitors to rise a little when at maximum height, but the position of the keyboard and mouse are ideal. Most monitors can be lifted, so this isn't an issue. There is lots of surface for your things. I have been able to fit two wide monitors, my laptop on a dock, keyboard, mouse, headphone stand, and headset charging station without any issues. It should fit most desks. Build quality feels great, with very little flex in the thinnest part (the lower deck). My only long term concern will be the motor that drives the raise/lower action, but I have no reason to think it won't be good for some time. A good buy.
