I love this knife for cutting fruits and vegetables I also like the cover so that you don’t get cut when you are searching in the knife drawer.

I bought this knife because I had a Faberware ceramic knife that I have had for years. My first one is still sharp and perfectly functional and I use it around once per day. I was excited to purchase another one. But this is not nearly the quality of my previous one and it has shattered twice. Once while cutting carrots...didn't realize that carrots would cause a large 1 inch shard to come off it. It shattered the first time when I first got it using it for regular chopping (that is where I got the cut as the shard went deep into my finger). Ceramic really hurts when it cuts you...and it bled for a long time. Not sure what to do with it since if I throw it away it may cut someone else who is not aware it is in the garbage etc. Not sure if you can see it but the very tip is the first place the ceramic shattered first. The 'carrot' shatter is much more obvious as it is a good 3/4-1" long chunk out of the knife...knife still has carrot on it because I am not going to touch it. If it shatters on you, DO NOT pick up the fragment with your bare hands, it is sharper than any razor. Other than the fact that it is defective and dangerous, no other complaints.

Hold their sharpness and no fear for less skilled hands to use. They can chip or break so special care not to drop

Very flimsy… very delicate. As described

This one has lasted the longest before chipping. It is a good size and handles a fair amount of abuse. We try to be careful but inevitably it gets dropped etc. This is my second one. I have tried a lot of other brands and they chip almond immediately. I would recommend this one.

I am usually a fan of Farberware, and the ceramic knives are a favorite of mine. I've had my original blue handled Farberware ceramic knife (much like this one) for several years. It's still sharp, but the handle is worn so I decided to replace it. I ordered one of these as a Christmas present just to find it was shattered when opened. I figured it must have been broken when opening at Christmas so I ordered a replacement. The replacement arrived in a box that also contained an electronic device and a bracelet. The box was undamaged as were the device and the bracelet, but the knife arrived shattered into bits...and still in the original stiff plastic packaging. The packaging was completely unharmed. My original knife has shown no signs of being brittle, but these new ones are a different story. I am very glad that nobody was harmed handling these because the shards are like little razors. I encourage you to avoid this knife. Sorry Farberware; you've lost a fan.

These ceramic knives are the proverbial hot-knife-through-butter in a lot of instances of food preparation, but they aren't good for everything. Don't use it on a hard surface, use it with a cutting board with a little give. Don't use it on frozen stuff or on hard vegetables like raw carrots. That said, it's great for slicing through raw or cooked meat, for cutting fruit and vegetables, etc. I've gradually added a few ceramic knives to my work area in the kitchen, and this one so far is working well. I use this and other size ceramic blades with a plastic cutting board so it doesn't strike a hard surface, and put them away when people visit - one elderly friend was ready to pry something with a ceramic knife before I took it away and gave her a steel blade. They aren't for everyone, you have to know what you're doing with them. ______________________ Updated in August 2024: this knife had a great feel when using it, sharp, long enough to efficiently rock on the cutting board for chopping vegetables. Used correctly on appropriate surfaces and suitable foods. Until it imploded. Goodbye Farberware knife.

We were excited to, once again, have a nice, sharp ceramic knife to use whilst chopping food - however, this dud from Faberware broke after 4 or 5 uses. For context: we have had, and will have to continue to use, a ceramic knife that was purchased from another store almost 4 years ago and is still going strong. In short: save your $ and look elsewhere.

Chipped easily and then broke at handle within 6 months of purchase.
