I couldn’t be happier with this smoke and CO alarm. Setup was incredibly easy—within minutes it was paired with my home automation system (hubitat). I love the fact that it’s battery powered, so I didn’t have to worry about wiring or placement limitations. The alerts are fast and reliable, both on the device and via my hubitat app, which is a game changer when I’m away from home. It’s reassuring to know I’ll be notified instantly if something’s wrong. The dual functionality (smoke + CO detection) in one compact unit is super convenient too. The build quality feels solid, and it even has a sleek, modern design that blends well with my home decor. Highly recommend for anyone looking to boost their home safety and take advantage of smart home features. Worth every penny!

I was looking for something that could improve our safety while we were at the house and away, this covers both. It got synced with my ring alarm and now it can call the fire department directly.

Normal setup was easy, our old detectors even matched the base. Connecting to zwave was a little annoying, but no big deal after a couple tries. Could be easier, but after you figure out one, it’s pretty easy to setup several.

Smoke detectors used to be simple, wire them up and put in a battery each year and you're good. This one however has a nifty feature allowing it to connect to another system (like a household alarm) using an open protocol (Z-Wave). My alarm system supports that protocol making it the reason I chose this smoke and CO detector. In my case, I was shopping for a smoke / CO detector that could connect to an Abode wireless security system. This one from First Alert seemed to fit the requirements. There are other detector brands out there of course, but I thought about the importance of this device for my family’s safety and really wanted a brand with longevity and strong performance record. Kudos to FirstAlert for providing an open protocol for this connection in your device. I ordered a returned item as I often do for a slightly lower cost. Installing the detector in my existing ceiling location was a breeze. It fit over the electrical box perfectly and the existing screw locations matched up with the mounting plate. Put two AA batteries in and it was working. Next: getting it connected to the alarm system. Well, on the detector the instructions say to remove the batteries, hold down the test button while inserting the batteries until it beeps to put it in discovery mode. Not too bad. On the Abode side the instructions are well written, but for this thick brain did not quite make sense. They use the terms EXCLUSION and INCLUSION for the sequences which seemed like separate options (you’re either excluding or including a device is what I interpreted). Well, turns out you have to first use the EXCLUSION steps to get the Abode system into pairing mode. Then fiddle with the smoke detector again to put it into discovery mode again for the INCLUSION steps. Finally enter a PIN cod eon the back of the detector to complete the pairing. So, if you’ve read this far, you probably are going to buy this and just remember to do both sequences. Performance of the detector has been good. The connection with the Abode system did disconnect for one day, but mysteriously reconnected and has been connected for weeks. The Abode app reported the disconnection and reconnection with no intervention on my part.

Easy to install and set up. Was a replacement for a previous smoke detector of the same design and size. Attached to the wall mount of the previous detector with no need to replace it. Only thing I found wrong was that the co detector and smoke detector is recognized separately in Ring and Alexa so you will have 2 devices show up when you add it, no mention of this in the instructions
