This product works well for its intended purposes. The extendable antenna picks up signals effectively, and the speaker delivers clear sound. The SOS function can be a bit annoying, but as long as you keep the switch on power, it won’t be an issue. The reading light and flashlight are both bright, making it easy to quickly locate things I've dropped in the dark. While I’m not sure how to test the power generated by cranking, I’ve found it to be a fun little fidget while watching movies or TV. The handle is sturdy and well-protected when not in use, and it turns smoothly with a light motor hum, which I personally find relaxing (though your experience may differ). It’s not "heavy," but it does feel substantial. Lighter than my phone, the plastic is well-molded with no visible seams. The rechargeable battery charges my phone at a decent rate, making it a reliable option when needed.

The FosPower Emergency Weather Radio (Model D8) is an outstanding device for staying prepared and informed during emergencies. It’s compact, yet packed with features that make it a must-have for any emergency kit. The NOAA/AM/FM radio reception is excellent, providing clear updates on weather and emergency alerts. The 37,000mWh battery capacity is impressive, offering long-lasting power. The multiple charging options—solar, hand crank, and USB—ensure that you can keep it running no matter the situation. The flashlight and reading light are bright and practical, and the SOS alarm is a reassuring feature for emergencies. I appreciate the durability and design, which feels rugged enough to withstand tough conditions. This weather radio is a reliable and versatile tool that brings peace of mind during storms, power outages, or outdoor adventures. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a dependable emergency device!

I bought it because it had solar and wind up. It was highly rated by purchasers and consumer websites. They didn't lie. Nifty little radio with great reception. I was bummed it didn't have an antenna, then I saw a little silver disc. What's this I said. Well what did you know. Indeed it has an antenna lol. Never said I was smart. Tuner is super touchy. Like you think you have to move it a fair amount to get a station. No. My quarter turn bypassed around 5 stations. Slow and steady and you probably will pick up stations your pricey radios won't. Sound quality is similar to an old clock radio. Weirdly lately that is just fine. Listening without getting police called is nice. I literally have been listening to this outside doing yardwork. And u need no batteries. Wind it up and listen. First thingʻ did was indeed I could bring in weather alerts. It I'd an emergency radio that performs as promised.

I just now had the need to use this when we had a power outage. This does not have a C plug for the newer iPhones. That is on me for not doing enough research. I did have an adapter and it did work on my phone and of course it was not as fast as I am used to but it did work, it did not work on my iPad at all. It did come in handy and did what it said it would I would buy a better one next time and that will probably be soon.

This review will go over the pros and cons of the FosPower 4000 versus the Raynic 5000. Both are great units with a few key pros/cons for each that will determine which one you pick as your device. They cost virtually the same: First the Pros of the FosPower4000 - Build quality is top notch - it just feels solid without being heavy at all - The dynamo for the hand charger secured nicely and is easily retreivable - The bright to dimmer flashlight options are excellent and more versatile - The carabiner that is included is top notch - Limited LIFETIME Warranty (wow!) - Rechargeable battery easily accessible for replacement if necessary The Cons of the FosPower4000 - implying 4000 mAh battery - Only 2 ways to charge it; USB and solar; USB cable included but no plug - The manual tuning dial buttons are not the best way to go when you need quick access to a Weather band - No headphone jack - 8 times out of 10 when I grabbed it, I accidentally hit the SOS button; no button-lock feature - Handcrank does not feel smooth when turned Now for the Pros of the Raynic5000 - implying 5000mAh battery - Build quality if good but not as solid feeling as the FosPower - 4 (FOUR) ways to keep this one charged; USB, Solar, Handcrank and AAA batteries - Button-lock feature for no accidental pressing of SOS buttons - Regardless of the above line, the SOS button is out of the way, so even if not locked there is no chance of accidentally hitting it - Digital tuner - this is awesome for QUICKLY selecting the appropriate weather band - Backlit (can be turned off) Digital display for battery charge level, time, status of alerts - Smooth handcrank motion Cons of the Raynic5000 - 1 year Warranty in comparison to Full Lifetime Warranty of FosPower4000 - Handcrank comes loose from cradle very easily and is a little irritating - Pathetic carabiner included So, which one did I pick? It was a difficult decision because they are both excellent units, however, I ended up picking the Raynic5000! Why? Well, because, while it was difficult to forego the top-notch build quality and lifetime warranty of the FosPower, the Raynic had all the features that make it worthy of purchase while not suffering too much from its build quality; which really isn't bad at all. It's just not as good as its competitor.

Perfect for camping with the family I bought this FosPower radio to be prepared for emergencies, but it turned out to be super useful when we went camping with my family. We used the flashlight at night, listened to music on the radio, and even charged our phones with the power bank. I loved that it has multiple charging options, so we never ran out of power. A very practical

Love that this can be charged by USB, solar, hand crank and, unlike many similar items, replacable batters (3 x AAA). Radio works well, light is handy and hand crank seems good quality. Hoping this saves me in an emergency

It was charged when I received it. You know how when people get their digital products and toss the manual and just start pressing buttons? Well, you really need to read the manual. It's just a couple of pages. For instance, when charging you need to set the button at the bottom in the right position. The radio plays fine even without the antenna. I found my favorite radio station. Everything works. I tested charging my phone and that worked. I charged it. I notice it can charge my fire tablet. So yay. I bought it mainly for the radio and phone charging during outages. I have other flashlights, but it's good to have an extra one now. I like that it has 4 charging capabilities, solar, hand crank, AAA batteries, and USB charging. It's small and compact. Nice. I took the carabiner off. I don't need that. I'm not going out in the wild. Lol. Oddly enough I found the battery compartment a little difficult to get open for the AAA batteries. I did get it, and now that I have, it's fine. I didn't know if I need to recharge it since it was already charged, and to what amount I don't know. So I charged it through my pc. It says the red light comes on when charging, which it did, and that it turns off when fully charged. It says it takes 4.5 hours to be fully recharged. I had it there for about 6 and it never turned off. So I don't know what that means. I stopped it at 6 hours because I don't want anything to go wrong with it. Anyway, so far so good. The real test is when there will be a huge power outage again. Just made it through Fiona. The power was out for 40 hours where I was. This thing could have come in handy for charging my phone. Instead, I had to tightly limit the use of my cell phone in order to to make it last. And the only usable radio was on my phone which was definitely counter-productive. The SOS is really loud. But I think that is a good feature if you live in an area prone to tornados, earthquakes, and other extreme events. If you're trapped under rubble you can use it to alert search and rescue workers.
