Pros: a lot of advanced features, very convenient & eazy to use I loved the VPN Killswitch, multiple internet sources 4G-LTE/LAN/WiFi-repeater which could be compined together Cons: 1- it lacks USSD codes support 2- The IMEI is not printed on package/device, however IT IS printed on the chip INSIDE the device, in some countries they require to see a physical IMEI for duties and registration purposes Overall: very useful, i bought another one, it is worth every penny :) 4.7/5

It's only been about fifteen minutes since I opened the box and this thing is already up and running. It could not have been any easier and it makes me wonder why the four or five different mobile routers I have tried never worked - because this one took about two minutes to configure and start using. That's not an exaggeration. I am typing this on my laptop that's connected to this router. It was amazing. I thought that this seemed a little expensive, but I'm glad I got it anyway. The ease of the setup was totally worth the cost. I haven't yet found anything to complain about. I'm beyond impressed.

A lot of people like this router. I personally don't like it. Why? It's slow. It feels like this could have came out like 7 years ago. No gigabit ethernet, no high speed 5ghz wifi, vpn speeds are god awful, you should buy the mudi v2 instead of this. I did like that you can use this as a battery pack even when the router is off though.

This has got to be one of my top products received from Amazon. Seriously. It took about 3hrs of finagling due to the SIM card and, well... me, but when it works (which is hit or miss regarding the modem), it's a pleasure to operate and have because it provides a nice clean connection with a VPN included... where ever I go. In the box, there is the device (mine had about 45% battery charged in the box) a USB-C power cable... which means you can charge this with a normal USB-C cable, and that's awesome ...and a couple of adapters for the region you are in. I think it's because I got the worldwide version, but to me... that was a pleasant surprise to see that they had included a few adapters for different countries and power grids. The device itself is small, small enough to throw in my pocket. It's quiet. It's unassuming, I mean there are lights but I doubt anyone would know what it is if you didn't tell them. It's not flashy... and I personally like that everything is low-key. It also does its job quietly, which is nice. On top of all that, there are two ethernet ports onboard the device which give you the option to WAN one or LAN two. As for performance, well... you get a 3g/4g connection so if you are used to 5g speeds it's going to be a step down. With an AT&T sim card I was getting around 16mb down, and 10mb up... which is good enough to run what I want to run. This leads me to my reservations about this product, and there are a couple. First the wifi output is only 2.4ghz and there is no 5ghz radio or option to enable it so naturally you end up with a lot of interference as nearly every IOT device in my house runs on 2.4ghz. If this was a travel orientated router... then why not add the second channel with a wider channel selection and a shorter range? Next similarly why no 3g/4g/5g? I know that would shift things from where this was aiming to be, and that's a great place... it makes travel modems very accessible where it is, but especially being a product released and marketed in the US alone, 5g is becoming more commonplace... so why was that left on the table. Finally, just a small gripe... let people know this takes a second to get going, because it's really confusing to start this and nothing happens for a good 5 minutes. If you never turn it on and off... you may not realize, but without sounds or lights or something that says "Getting Started" it seems like it's not doing anything when it's actually not booting but finding a connection with the modem. Which further reminds me that there's even more that this device can do, like route WIFI and act as a router with OpenWRT... and so yeah... I love this device even with some of the odd choices with the radios and channel capabilities.

Per Amazonboten wurde der GL.iNet schnell und zuverlässig zu uns ins Haus geliefert. Bereits nach kurzer Zeit war der Puli (so wird er genannt) einsatzbereit und verhilft einem ins Internet. Basierend auf der Linux-Distribution OpenWrt bietet die kleine Box viele Freiheiten die ein normaler Router erst einmal nicht bietet. So kann man aus einer langen Liste von Add-Ons einfach aus der Oberfläche heraus Erweiterungen installieren, die es für andere Router nicht gibt. GL.iNet hat seine eigene Oberfläche über OpenWrt gestülpt. Diese ist gut gelungen und (fast) alles funktioniert auch. Alternativ kann man auch die grafische Weboberfläche LuCi nutzen, die ebenfalls installiert ist. Man muss also kein Linux-Profi sein um den Router zu konfigurieren. In der Basiskonfiguration ist der Puli aufgeräumt und einfach zu verstehen und zu konfigurieren. So dauert die erste Inbetriebnahme nur wenige Minuten. Der Router spannt sein eigenes WLAN auf, an das man sich einfach verbinden kann und dann per Webbrowser auf die IP 192.168.8.1 geht. Schon kann man mit der recht einfachen (aber umfänglichen) Oberfläche von GL.iNet das Gerät konfigurieren. Das funktioniert gut und schnell. Das Gerät hatte bei Lieferung eine ältere 3.x-er Version der Software installiert. Ein Online-Update lieferte leider nur ein Update auf die letzte 3.x-er Version (3.217) vom 08.05.2023. Verfügbar sind auf der Webseite von GL.iNet für den Router aktuell schon drei 4.x-er Versionen mit der aktuellen 4.3.17 von Juni 2024. Angeboten wird diese als Online Update leider nicht. Mir (Informatiker und seit Jahrzenten in der IT und Entwickler unter Linux) war es aber leider nicht möglich die aktuelle Version der Software zu installieren. Da ein Online Update nicht angeboten wurde habe ich alle verfügbaren 4.x-er Versisonen manuell vom Hersteller heruntergeladen und dann auf den Router wieder hochgeladen. Leider bleibt der Router dann immer bei der Verifikation der neuen Firmware hängen und zeigt noch nicht einmal den SHA256 an. Auch nach mehreren Stunden leider kein Fortkommen. Schade, da ich mit einer über ein Jahr alten Firmware sicherlich keinen Router betreiben werden, wenn es hierzu schon mehrere (Sichererheits-)Updates gibt. Ein weiterer Knackpunkt des Puli ist, dass nur 2.4 GHz WLAN’s unterstützt werden. Der Router kann kein 5 GHz und ist damit zwar noch nicht ganz veraltet, aber bei einem aktuellen Gerät hätte ich durchaus mehr erwartet. Fazit: Nettes Teil, das einem viele Möglichkeiten bietet aber nicht mehr so richtig aktuell ist. Weder ein Update auf eine aktuelle Firmware funktioniert noch 5 GHz WLAN. So möchte ich das Gerät nicht weiter betreiben. Für jemanden der gerne seine eigene OpenWrt Software installieren möchte aber bestimmt eine gute Basis.

Click to play video The routers work wonderfully. First, try to connect to the internet with a sim card, I needed to connect via computer to access the inner software and reboot it. Once that was successful, I managed to connect the O2 sim card and have a full internet connection. The inner software has so many options and can be adjusted to my needs. Inside the box is the routers, 3 types of plug adaptors, and an internet cable. The battery level can be indicated on the device but also on the pc/laptop if connected to inner software which it shows a more accurate battery level, signal strength and temperature inside the device. At the time of review, the price was £139. In my opinion, it's a bit expensive but the device does what it's supposed to do. I hope my review, pictures and video can help you decide.

Ich durfte dieses Modem mit OpenWrt testen. Um unterwegs mobil arbeiten zu können benötige ich eine Netzverbindung. Bisher habe ich dies über mein Mobiltelefon durchgeführt. Allerdings hatte diese Methode mehrere Probleme. 1) Der Akku wurde schnell leer gesoffen und musste immer am Netz hängen. 2) Das Mobiltelefon wurde extrem heiss. 3) Wegen den beiden oberen Punkten war die Funktionalität des Mobiltelefons eingeschränkt. Zu Hause nutze ich schon ein Mobiles Modem von Netgear, dieses mit zu nehmen kam jedoch nicht in Frage und ein neues Gerät kostet über 300 Stutz. Das hier getestete Modem hat sich als guter Ersatz mit nur wenigen negativen Punkten herausgestellt. Die negativen Punkte vorweg: 1) Mit dem eigenen Akku betrieben wird die Verbindung instabil. 2) Mit dem eigenen Akku betrieben kann das Modem heiss werden. 3) Das Modem benötigt ewig und 2 Tage um aufzustarten. Abgesehen von diesen 3 negativen Punkten ist das Gerät top. Besonders gefällt mir, dass die Software Open Source ist. Dadurch gibt es endlos viele Möglichkeiten diese anzupassen. Für mich ist ist dieses Modem wirklich gut. Um die Instabilität zu umgehen, hänge ich es im Einsatz einfach an eine Powerbank. Mit derselben Powerbank speise ich auch meinen Laptop. Ich muss also nur ein zweites kleines Ladekabel (USB C zu USB C) mit schleppen. 0,5 Meter wiegen keine 40 Gramm... Das Gewicht ist also vertretbar, insbesondere da ich sowieso immer 3-4 USB 4 / Thunderbolt 4 Kabel dabei habe. Thunderbolt 4 hat 40 GB/s Datendurchsatz und 240 W Ladeleistung. Dies reicht für so ziemlich jeden Einsatz mit modernen Geräten. Das Modem verfügt für die kabelgebundene Kommunikation über einen LAN und einen WAN Anschluss. Für Speicher ist ein USB 2.0 (Formfaktor A) und ein Micro SD Port verbaut. Gespiessen wird das Modem über einen USB C Anschluss. 300 Mb/s ist jetzt nicht die schnellste Verbindung, für Arbeiten und YouTube in Full HD reicht es jedoch mehr als nur genügend. 153 Euro empfinde ich als einen angemessenen Preis für das Modem Von mir gibt es hier 4 Sterne = gut.
