Originally I purchased a G4, which seems like a quality scooter; however it had an issue, but Gotrax addressed the issue. I see a lot of G4 scooters around town (college town), so I probably just received a bad one. The G4 rode nicely. GoTrax upgraded me to an Eclipse model. The G4 model I originally ordered has solid wheels, which I recommend, because they are low/no maintenance. The Eclipse model has solid wheels, and is very much similar to the scooters you can rent in cities. I love the display on the Eclipse model; the dual drum brakes stop nicely, and the weight of the scooter makes it feel very planted to the ground. The G4 is nice, but I recommend spending a little extra money on the Eclipse model. If you want a scooter to ride recreationally or to the parking garage, I recommend the G4. If you want a scooter that's a daily driver, I recommend the Eclipse. I live downtown where it's easier to bike than drive, then I got tired of biking. A scooter is a great alternative to a car. My son wanted a scooter so I bought one for him, then realized I need one too. Insurance and parking would cost me over $200 per month, and that's before gas and maintenance. Scooters are a cost effective solution to a car where one isn't necessary, and with the money saved, I utilize ride share when the weather is inclement, and rent a car when I need one. The scooter will take 3 to 5 hours to charge depending on how much battery remains (it's best to run the battery down before charging it, but if it's at 1 bar and you need 2 or 3 bars, then obviously it'll need charged). The G4 has the power I would expect from a middle range scooter. The Eclipse has the power of a scooter a class above the G4. I like the weight of the G4 (about 38 pounds), whereas the Eclipse is about 45 pounds and I can feel the extra weight when I have to carry it. Both scooters feel heavy if you have to carry them far (I have to carry them up and down 3 steps every time I leave/arrive home). The scooters are a good value. I'm sort of tired of riding motorcycles, scooters are an activity my son and I can enjoy. Definitely invest in at least a helmet. Whether you ride a bike, scooter, or motorcycle, you should be wearing at least a helmet. I wiped out on a scooter recently, and a helmet probably saved my life (people get out of the shower and fall, so imagine falling at 10 miles per hour). Lots of fun, but understand cars are not expecting something to come flying off the sidewalk at 15 miles per hour, so understand how to ride responsibility. Areas heavy in pedestrian traffic require being being careful and respectful. I highly recommend GoTrax, and scooters are a cost effective solution to transportation, and better for the environment than cars. Get one and have fun, but wear at least a helmet (common sense).

The Gotrax G4 electric scooter is an excellent choice for urban commuters, especially for those in New York City. With its UL 2272 certification, it complies with the city's regulations, allowing users to bring it into buildings without concerns about safety or compliance—a crucial feature in a city where such certifications are taken seriously. Pros: UL 2272 certification ensures safety and NYC compliance. Long range and decent top speed for urban commutes. Sturdy design with good ride quality on rough roads. Convenient security features. Cons: Limited off-road capability due to its urban-focused design. Verdict: The Gotrax G4 strikes a great balance between performance, safety, and convenience, making it a standout choice for NYC commuters. Its UL 2272 certification is a game-changer for entering buildings, and its reliable features ensure you’ll enjoy a safe, efficient ride. Whether you're zipping through Manhattan, the G4 has you covered.

I purchased this as a first scooter along with another one for gf. We tried both of them, and I think I prefer this one! The antitheft features make this one stand out....although do double up with a secondary heavy duty lock. Needing to enter code to use is honestly a fantastic feature tho. I don't have a ton to compare it to, but so far I've just been zipping around New York City. There are definitely faster scooters, but this one is fairly fast. If this would have been a main source of transportation I might look at the higher end models, but for 95% of people that are using this recreationally or scootering to the subway, this is an incredible value. It is really, really fun. It has a solid battery life, seems strong, and get me where I need to go. At this price point I'm super happy. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a get-around scooter look into this. It feels easy to ride, isn't overly heavy (a lot easier to carry than a bike!) and feels high quality. Highly recommend!

I purchased this scooter to commute daily to rail stations which is about 1.5 miles away. Assembly was super easy and the scooter is super solid and feels very strong. I chose to initially charge the battery overnight. The charge lasts easily for my trip there and back and then some. One night I forgot to plug it in to charge and next day the battery charge did not deplete. I was concerned about leaving the scooter at the train station all day. After using it for whole week, I have no concerns. The battery is stable even though it’s cold outside, that doesn’t seem to affect it at all and it locks very securely. The temperatures have been in the low 40’s high 30s and I was concerned with depletion when sitting outside. The charge top off is about 2-3 hours, but I usually leave it overnight. The ride is excellent and very fast, very stable. The grips are solid and made of a rubberized material that doesn’t get wet. The handlebar is a bit narrow for my but it’s not a big deal since I only ride for about 10-15 min at a time. The LCD display is cool, has an odometer, speedometer and a battery charge indicator. Headlight is a nice touch since I am often returning home after the sun goes down. This scooter has been very convenient and allowed me to skip the connecting bus ride and go straight to the train station. The scooter is awesome, it’s super comfortable and is adjustable and a great value. It’s a great addition to my daily life.

When I ordered the scooter, I was initially expecting to be disappointed. I felt that by opting to buy Gotrax over other brands like Apollo, that I should expect less of this scooter. However, I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. The scooter turned out to be much bigger than expected! Dwarfing even my friend's apollo scooter. The gmax ultra looks beastly, and it performs just as well. The ride is super smooth, thanks in part to the large air-filled wheels. I was also greatly surprised by the number of features such as the attached lock, entry code, and 20mph speed. By far the greatest asset i've seen is the 45 mile range. I've been riding this thing around town and have not managed to drain the battery dead yet. Indeed, this scooter has significantly reduced my commuting time, and has opened many doors for me. Overall, fantastic device if you are looking for reliable transportation around the city, or to ride around paths for enjoyment. That being said, the gmax ultra is not suited for any off-roading. Dirt and pebble roads are a no-go for me, and even some decrepit sidewalks will make you feel jitter.

I'm extremely happy with this scooter overall, it's excellent range and comfort makes it great for commuting. It was simple to use, quick to assemble (just 4 screws) and feels very well constructed. My main priority with these electric scooters is safety, and the durable construction, responsive controls, strong brakes, and stable ride thanks to the air-filled tires definitely gave me confidence on the road. Not to mention, it's also virtually silent! In terms of security, the pin feature and built-in lock was definitely neat and good for quick stops, but I would still use something more robust for longer duration stops for such an expensive piece of equipment. Do note that this is a quite heavy scooter (36b lbs) so you probably won't be able to carry it around everywhere, but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to make for such a comfortable ride and long range. Overall, extremely happy with this purchase, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Ok , bought one last year , thr computer fried on it and it caused me to wipe put, they sent me a new one to replace once they received the old one and I was happy , I got it out of the box and the handle bars were crooked and it literally can't be straightened but I said I'll still use it and see what happens , well 2 weeks later boom another fried computer , its was constantly turning off and on and the alarm would go on and off so I sent it back as well and luckily I got a refund. I WONT WASTE my money on one of these and I don't think anyone should.

Bought a few months ago. The battery life is quite strong. Full charge takes 6 hours and depending on usage, could last for days. Perfect for commuting faster, though a bit heavy to carry. Can get inside the bus if folded. Head turner, everybody wants to know how it works, battery life, the range, etc… Lots of conversation started by strangers when I ride through the city. The bell’s handle broke (got entangled with my earphones), but that’s my mistake, even though it wouldn’t have broken if it was stronger enough. Handlebar becomes shaky after a few weeks (mostly because it is only attached through one single joint to the main body, and takes the most pressure). Rides very smoothly on city roads, but not too good of an experience on the sidewalk or dirt road. Will keep this post updated after a few more months.
