Note to all people who buy Omani and Somalian frankincense known as Boswellia carterii and Boswellia sacra, and to those who are used to "hojari" frankincense from that tree. This frankincense is the species Boswellia papyrifera. It has a somewhat clear to tan/orange color and a citrusy scent. It is not the same as B. sacra and smells quite different, so if you know what to expect you will likely enjoy it. The resins from these species are different, and it seems some other shoppers don't know that and are disappointed in their reviews. Finally, mine came sealed in a better bag than what is pictured and smells quite nice with low heating.

Smells good, but there's a lot of foreign matter in it. I have what looks like some kind of paper in a couple pieces. I'm ok with a little bark or whatever, but this is probably why some reviews complain about a bad smell. Make sure to sort through the pieces before you burn them I guess. Still worth the purchase

What can I say? The Wise men brought it to a baby as a gift when it was valued more than GOLD. I use it as an offering to the Creator of the universe and I value it more than GOLD because of that fact. You can burn it with Hooka coals as I do and you will probably develop it into a habit due to the amazing smell. People will search for where the amazing smell is coming from and you can share your connection to the creator with his creation. The Arab's called it the tears of the trees, the INCA called Copal, the blood and tears of the tree's. How's that for wise men? It seems to awaken something deep within your being when you think of who was given it as a child. 3 Wise Men can't be all wrong. Take it to the mountains and offer it and see what miracles the creator sends your way. Stay strong and live long, Regards, Nobody Special P.S. I gifted some to a man who's wife had stage 4 cancer and a month to live. The Creator had a different prognosis for her. That was a year ago. Praise the Creator for that, not me and not the Frankincense.

Click to play video Usually when I buy something from Amazon I read the bad reviews and hope that my purchase will work out and I'll be lucky. Well unfortunately not this time. I've burned frankincense many times and so I decided to give this one a try. I put a few pieces on the charcoal and it started off ok. Then after a few minutes I smelled something like burned glycerin soap and burnt plastic. It smokes for a long time and doesn't finish clean. My burner has an included lid and when I opened it I noticed a sticky tar like coating had formed from the smoke inside the burner. I'm not sure what exactly is this but it's not EXACTLY frankincense. I'm definitely disappointed and I don't think that I will ever purchase anything with the Govinda brand again. Im really bummed out about this. I was hoping to sit on my balcony and enjoy it.

This is a great quality Ethiopian frankincense! Perfect size and aroma! I wouldn’t worry about some of the low rating people leave. If you know Ethiopian frankincense and how to burn it… this is a great deal. Get the Grade A for few $ more!

This product is incredibly bitter, bitterness is a clear example of poor quality Frankincense. Bitterness is caused by poor quality resin, improper burning method, or incorrect harvesting time. Stay well clear if you are purchasing this for health benefits! Avoid at all costs or prepare to be severely disappointed just as I am.
