The Greenworks 40V Pole Saw + Hedge Trimmer delivers powerful cutting, lightweight design, and impressive battery life. Quiet, easy to maneuver, and perfect for home yard tasks. Highly recommend for DIY enthusiasts!

Tried both items out on our palm trees and while not as powerful as the gas tools they replaced they were lighter and worked well

Pros: The saw has no problems going through 2-inch oak branches, and the hedger is fine with twigs up to about 1/4 inch or so. Two hours of steady work, and the battery is only 50% depleted, showing 2/4 bars on the handy battery indicator. It recharges fully from this in about 30 minutes. I don't feel it necessary to buy an extra battery. Cons: The 8-inch chainsaw bar is on a relatively light engine, which makes it buck quite a bit and makes it well nigh impossible to do controlled undercuts. Both devices at the end of full extension makes every task (especially hedging since it involves a lot of side to side movement) feel like marlin fishing because the weight of the engines and blades are at the end of a 9-10 foot pole. I mean, they work, but handling and maneuverability are poor at full extension. These balance/maneuverability issues do not exist with one pole deployed instead of both poles. Admittedly, I'm not a large guy though I am very familiar with using a gas chainsaw. The balance/maneuverability issues may not be so notable in a taller person. Would I buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes, but would precaution them about the balance/maneuverability issues in full extension.

Neighbor needed a tree-like bush trimmed. As in, stand on a 12 foot ladder while using 2 of the 3 sections (left off the center piece; VERY heavy if you use all 3) of the pole chainsaw. It easily cut through 6-inch branches. The amazing thing is how long the little 2ah battery lasted. I expected 20-30 minutes total run time. It lasted what seemed like 3 times that-- allowing for carting off the cuts several times during the 2+ hour project. Very pleased with this product AND I can use my Gmax 40 V 4ah batteries if ever needed. Just make sure you use the supplied charger, with ONLY the 2ah battery provided. A 4ah charger would likely be hazardous (as mentioned in the handbook). This might be the best buy I've ever made. $160 during Prime Days. It’s well worth the full price of $240.

I had the first version of the Greenworks pole hedge trimmer, but it broke -- motor runs, gearbox moved the blades, but the pinon gear either broke or spins free on the motor shaft. Disappointing that a company named "Greenworks" would have no replacement parts available for sale, so mine ended up in a land fill for lack of a trivial replacement part (either the pinon gear or the motor) This one is not as "adjustable" as the older model but it should make it stronger overall, it has a longer reach and is a good bit heavier but no other tool can get all our hedges while staying on our property. The pole saw attachment is a nice feature and has a longer reach than the corded one I've used for years. Not dragging around an extension cord is wonderful, my neighbor who borrows my corded pole say a couple of times a year was happy to take my old one.

I had high hopes for the Greenworks 40V 8” Pole Saw + Pole Hedge, but it turned out to be a frustrating experience. The biggest issue is how top-heavy the tool is—after just a few minutes of use, your arms start burning and it becomes nearly impossible to control. There’s no proper balance, especially when the pole is fully extended. It might work for quick, light jobs, but forget about using it for anything longer than 10–15 minutes unless you want a full arm workout. Definitely not user-friendly for extended trimming. Disappointed and wouldn’t buy again.

I had this same pole saw for several years and used it trimming around deer stands. the battery life is great and the automatic oiler is nice. after several years of hard use the originally finally had a gear strip that drives the chain. I bought the same one again so that my old battery and parts will work with the new one. Should allow me to have an extra long pole saw with the extra extension.

I just bought the pole saw and did a big tree trimming job in my backyard. Overall the pole saw got most of the job done. Note that you will have to know how to adjust and tighten the chain…I feel like there wasn’t enough detail around this in the instructions. After a few hours the pole saw was not sawing thru the wood. The battery and motor were fine. Don’t know if it was a cheap chain that lost its sharpness after working it hard, or if the issue is with the chain adjustment. Still testing…
