Update: after using this bag for a couple of months and every day around Italy for 10 days I now love this bag! I don't notice any pressure from the straps anymore after usage. Maybe there was a breaking in period? But there are a lot of things I am just so used to now. I love the magnetic chest clasp, etc. ( I have removed the hip belt.) Old review: This is undeniably a high quality bag. I read lots of reviews before hand on this before ordering it. It fulfils everything the reviews said about it for me... except for me the straps on the harness system have this piping on them and when I have fulled loaded the bag up to about a 10kg total weight the straps start digging in and are not as comfortable as my previous backpack. Still the bag keeps it's shape, it looks great, I also think it will last a very long time and looks to be a really quality bag. Note other reviews didn't find this problem with the straps so perhaps it is just my body shape. I am debating whether to return it or not due to this. I also got a Mark Ryden backpack to compare this against and that bag is definitely made of cheaper materials will not hold up as well etc, but when loaded is strangely more comfortable to wear. (Also my original Willow Design backpack is more comfortable than the Hemiplanet.) New comments: There are still a few things to improve like they could have a way to lock the quick grab pouch zipper, etc. (I use Nite Ize S-Biner MicroLock as my zipper locks and I can lock the main zippers together but not the quick grab pouch or the side zip pouch.) Also there could be a dedicated pocket for an AirTag like the TravelPack 3 from Aer) Still I love this bag now!

This bag checked all the boxes I was looking for: good weight distribution (stays close to the shoulders/back and doesn't cause shoulder pain when full like most bags), stylish, multiple functional pockets, water-resistant, and designed for travel in mind. (It's also got an external water bottle sleeve on your right side when wearing it - that isn't completely obvious from the photos and description) I mostly use it as an everyday bag for work, but have also taken it on work and personal travel. It is definitely on the pricier side, but given the construction and quality of materials, I anticipate it hanging around for the long haul. An additional perk is the clamshell opening capability, which really does make packing the bag easy and painless (especially for a person who loves to pack efficiently). It also has the potential to carry more with the external straps you can buy, but I personally don't forsee having a need for those. One minor inconvenience is that even though it will fit as an under-the-seat carry-on on flights, it's a pretty tight fit on a coach seat due to its size. So you may have to get creative to find a balance between storage and leg room. All in all, if you can handle the price point I would certainly recommend this bag.

I will say it's a great bag with a lot that was done right. It just wasn't as perfect for my uses as I felt a bag this price should be. 1) First thing I noticed taking it out of the bag is it is not that big. Great every day carry size in my opinion much more so than a minimalist travel bag. Definitely would have to be a 2 bag travel kit for anything more than a weekend. I posted a picture of it next to my Evergoods CPL24 and it feels like it's the same size. 2) Pockets need their own dimension. Filling up any given pocket on this thing takes up space in your other pockets. Putting a water bottle pushes into the main compartment. Putting a computer and laptop makes it feel like I'm losing a lot of main compartment space. And the front pocket when loaded will push into the main compartment space. It makes the bag feel smaller than the 24 liter bag I have. 3) The laptop sleeve is only large enough for a 15" laptop. The elastic strap that secures the laptop didnt reach around without stretching when I put my Lenovo slim 7i in the slot. I would have been totally fine without the strap but I hate it flapping around. If you stretch it as far as it will go it will pretty much fully align the velcro pads but I feel like that will wear it out very quickly. My iPad pro 11" fit in the sleeve with the laptop in the sleeve with no problem what so ever. But with both in there, it did make me feel like I had already used a lot of my main compartment space. 4) There is no organization in the front pocket and I wish there was. But I do love that there is a water bottle pocket. The materials feel good in hand. The bag feels good on my back and shoulders. If I was starting from square one and I was between the Evergoods CPL24 and this bag, I would probably pick this bag. But having the Evergoods bag already, I want a bag between what I have and a true travel backpack. I thought this was going to be perfect for that slot, but it just did not have the volume that I was looking for to be what I consider a small travel bag. However, I have no doubt this would fit as a personal item on a plane at the size that it is.

This backpack came missing half of the sternum strap, and also missing the waist belt. It also came without instructions of any kind. Otherwise built very solidly, and I really like the water bottle pocket. But seriously, how can they be sending out incomplete product?

I rarely leave reviews, but I had to do so for this one because of their customer service as well as just the quality of the products. I have never owned a better quality bag than this before. Seems pricy at first if you've never thought about buying a real quality bag that will last you long. But after owning it and bring it as the only bag for a short trip, I can confidently say that it's worth every penny. The bag is made of solid material which I think they design and created themselves. It's supposed to be more eco-friendly while being just if not more durable than others. I have only owned it for a short time, but I can tell that it's going to last for a long time. I felt confident throwing it around, carrying it in rainy weather as well as getting it dirty. The design of bag plays a big factor for me as I wanted something that doesn't stand out yet is nice to look at when you do. It's minimal, clean and inoffensive. I would say that it look just right with an outdoor, hiking outfit as with suit and tie. I would carry it to both outdoor adventure and professional interviews. It strikes a good balance between techy, minimal and outdoor-sy, rugged design. The main compartment is divided with a zip, so that you can pack your bag in different ways. Either laying down flat like a luggage case or standing up like a traditional backpack. It's so nice to have the option, as I have used it for both packing for a trip and just getting groceries. There's also a few very handy zip pockets, 2 large tablet/laptop slots and some elastic divided pockets for other things you want to keep organised. As with carrying it and walking around, I found it to be quite comfortable overall. I can comfortably carry it with it packed out just as well as mostly empty. The bag shape doesn't fall flat or have a "dent" when it's mostly empty, or it's at least at a level that I can happily accept. I haven't really had to use the belt strap that came with it because I didn't find to need, even when I had to carry bottles of drinks and groceries with it. There's also many other neat little things like hoops in the front of the bag to add attachments and extend functions, such as straps to carry things like a skateboard, etc. I haven't and am not currently able to use it to its full potential, but I am happy to know that I can if I need to. As for customer service provided by HEIMPLANET, I cannot recommend them any less. They are great at understanding your concerns and getting straight to the point/solution. I was worried about the shipment being late as they had to ship from oversea and my trip was running close. Jonas, who I was greeted with, offered to ship it with faster shipping method even when I told him it's okay as it seemed like it would make it in time. I literally received the backpack the very next day! I appreciate the speed and care they provide, you don't see that very often nowadays. A bit of a long rant but in summary, you are not going to regret buying this backpack!

Two trips in using this pack as carry on the pack has held up well and is very comfortable! Would recommend due to high quality and good features for packing. I would recommend some packing cubes for max convenience.
