I got the 4 drawer black cabinet and have no complaints. Amazon arranged some local company to deliver it and they called me to arrange a time and a day and wheeled it up to my door, no problem. It came well packed with no dents or scratches. (Disclaimer: when I bought it, it was being shipped and sold by Amazon. I can't vouch for any 3rd parties. When I look right now, Amazon is still selling the 5-drawer but the 2 and 4 are being sold by 3rd parties.) It is heavy but not so much that I couldn't maneuver it into place on my own. It comes with a lock and 2 keys for it, which locks all the doors from a central lock. Individual doors are held shut with a latch, and a thumb button to release it so you can open the door. It has the regular rails for holding folders and an adjustable metal backing that will let you adjust the depth of the drawer if you want. Seems like a good, heavy, solid file cabinet.

I ordered two of these file cabinets, both showed up with dents. One was salvageable and one was not. Amazon sent a replacement cabinet for the un-salvageable cabinet, and the replacement was also dented and not salvageable. Amazon would not replace the replacement because of the previous return on the original item. The only option I had was to return the unsalavgeable cabinet and re-order a new one. Problem being that Amazon no longer was selling the cabinet and to purchase the same cabinet, I would have to pay $50.00 more. I spent hours on the phone with Amazon trying to clear this up, not to mention I had to load and unload these cabinets each time there was a problem, causing an additional 2-3 hours of downtime, and Amazon's solution to this was for me to pay more for the same item. I would not but this cabinet again, and I would be very leery of purchasing anything through Amazon again.

First of all, shipping, because it's important: I researched and researched before choosing a seller. I finally chose Bison. They got it here in tact with no dents. The only problem is that I could not get in touch with them to explain how they almost lost a customer. Bison, if you read these reviews, your freight company, SAIA, would not turn down our street. I understand the driver (super nice) can only do what his dispatcher tells him to do but we did not receive curbside delivery as promised! Also, SAIA Freight would not work with us on a time. They backed out of their original time frame agreement and requested "now." It took a while but we rouned up a team to go to the house, with a dolly, get it off an 18 wheeler, wheel it down the road to our home, open, inspect, etc before signing off. So, Bison you got lucky. If I had lived at the end of the street or wasn't able to corral a team at that specific time, we would have had no choice but to cancel our order. Product: for the price, I'm disappointed. Like other reviewers have said, they are thin, flimsy. You do have to "slam" the drawers or close them really hard. The partition inside that slides back and forth...yeah right. That isn't terribly important for my needs though. I bought one about 10 years ago and it was around 100.00 on sale. It was sturdy and the drawers moved like butter. I'm guessing if you want to pay 1k+ you can get one like that.

Great item; arrived a-okay. Was replacing 25 year old model. Needed something sturdy for home office, not five or two drawer, this was perfect. Don't buy the $99 file cabinets which are crap. Spend a little more on one like this and it will last even if we don't use "files" every day anymore. I have many archival paper things which I don't wish to recycle even if scanned to digital. This fit the bill. Would recommend to anybody needing a good file cabinet (I had wanted a fire proof one, but could not justify $2K for that!).

If you've had a well-loved filing cabinet from the 1950's or so, you'll never find that kind of sturdy, user friendly quality in today's offerings. But as things go today, this is probably the closest you'll get to that good-ole-American engineering - which, frankly, this isn't. I love rounded handles that don't cut into your hand when you pull the drawer open, but these handles are the typical "newer" ones, made of squared off pieces of metal with edges that are well-smoothed, but still sharp-edged. And the cabinet metal is today's version of sturdy, which means yesterday's version of flimsy. Still, it meets the basic need of a stable filing cabinet. The shipper offered minimal tracking information, meaning nothing accessible about whatever freight service they chose. And Amazon still shows it is in transit, although it actually was delivered a bit earlier than estimated (about three weeks ago)!

The four drawer file cabinet is a good one. Amazon made it easy for delivery and setup. This locking file cabinet is stable and doesn't have any of that flimsy steel. The price is a little more that you can pay for something cheaper but the solid build and lock make it worth the extra cost.

I ordered this filing cabinet because of experience with this brand in the past. It arrived severely damaged and unusable. Bottom drawer was caved in so badly that it wouldn’t close/latch. It certainly was not of the quality of the cabinets that I have used for years. Replacement arrived several days later and it too, was damaged - same location. The replacement was picked up by UPS the next day, but the original cabinet is still on my front porch, over a week later, waiting for Pilot to pick it up.

The quality of the file cabinet is not the same as prior HON file cabinets we had ordered. I neglected to take photos, but arrived with significant dents on one side and on the top drawer. Also, 2 drawer dividers were not in place (and not sure how we'd even put them back). A pain to put back into the box. Tried to do an exchange but was told that was not possible because no more in stock. However, looks like there are more in stock. I was offered a $50 credit to make up for the Amex offer I squandered on this purchase.
