I have always hated doing dishes and just moved to a place with no dishwasher. My last house had a full size dishwasher and I loved it. In the past I had a bigger countertop dishwasher that hooked up to the sink, it was bigger than this one by about 4-5 inches but would not fit my 10.5 in plates. I am now on load 2 of quick washing dishes I had while waiting for this dishwasher to arrive! I have an RO system that I have to dump the waste water out manually. I try to collect and use the “waste water” for cooking, cleaning, and now I can use it with this dishwasher!! I read other reviews and took some suggestions. I am manually adding my water to the top but I turn it on and select what cycle I will be running. Dishes and soap need to be in the machine before loading the water with the door shut because once it has enough water it will ding at you if you do it this way. Then the machine will start running the cycle you have chosen. I need to order what someone else suggested for hard water. I forgot what it’s called so I have to go back as I am on well water and my bathroom is where my water softener reaches not the kitchen tap. The drain hose is not very long but it does work very well. Easy to attach. I loved a comment someone made here about how it does not pull a lot of power and is good for off grid living. As I am not living off grid that is one of my goals so I am trying to be mindful of what I purchase to be able to take with me whenever I can live off grid. The fact that it doesn’t have to occupy your kitchen faucet is huge! Also that if you’re having drain issues or whatever you can drain this into a bucket while washing dishes and dump where and when you can. Just make sure you’re plugging this into a grounded outlet for better safety. I looked up online which outlet would allow this type of energy/electric draw. Although it will not fit everything in it I used to wash in my full sized dishwasher I can still wash a majority of my dishes in this. My butter knives to not fit in the provided silverware basket. But it’s nice it offers an option to clean silverware in the foldable spot. It was packaged very nicely Amazon had a delay for my delivery which sucked because I started having issues with drains at my house the day after this was supposed to arrive. During my first load of washing a quick cycle I was able to prep more of my RO water for a 3 gallon jug I put it in at home. Clear my counters, put some clean dishes away. I am not using the drying option at the moment but may have to or just wipe out the machine and leave the door cracked open in between uses. I’m just going to take my wet dishes out and put them on a dish strainer to air dry. This way I can get more done in a shorter time frame vs an hour or so drying time added on. My 2nd cycle just finished as I’m typing this out and my first load air drying is basically all dry already all in the matter of 30min Will update more if I have any changes. It’s not super heavy, I was able to carry it safely through the house outside of the box. My old counter top dishwasher was a lot heavier than this. It looks great and shiny! I got the one with no glass on the door. I don’t need to watch my wash cycles. It is not very loud. The sprayers inside are smaller than I expected but seem to work great! The top sprayer in smaller than the bottom one, so they are not the same size. The suction cup seems to be working to keep my drain in place hopefully it does not break off from the hose. The only down side was the blue tape inside to hold everything in for shipping. I had to use a pocket knife to get the connected blue tape off the dish basket. Do as you wish or think on what will help you best for your situation. I’m glad they make something like this and I hope some day soon they can make the bigger portable dishwashers like this with the manually adding water option. That would be a huge game changer to anyone in need but limited options for hook ups and able to wash more at one time.

Okay. So I intentionally waited a whole year before writing a review on this portable dishwasher. I did this to make sure that I was able to accurately assess durability over time, as well as effectiveness. SPOILER ALERT--it still works just as great now as it did on Day 1. In fact, I'm using it right now, as I write this review.... Now I grew up during a time when parents would give their children something called "chores" to do. If you don't know what "chores" are, you're very lucky. Somehow, my daily chore was washing dishes. By hand. No dishwasher. I once asked my folks at the dinner table if we could get a dishwasher installed. What did I say that for?!? The reaction to my apparent blasphemy was immediate: My mom stopped, mid-chew, and gave me a look that could have turned Medusa herself into stone. My dad, seeing this, laughed out loud and answered [tongue-in-cheek] "Your mother and I already have 4 dishwashers--and we don't need to plug y'all in! Now. Go do the dishes. I'm sure your brothers thank you for volunteering, don't you boys..." That pretty-much settled the matter. Anyway, fast-forward about 30 years and I live in a rental apartment that-most unfortunately-did not come with a built-in dishwasher. To this day, hand-washing dishes is still my most hated house chore. So much so, that I would let dirty dishes sit in the sink for days at a time until there's no more room in the sink. Then, instead of washing the dishes, I would just stop cooking and get take-out everyday. All, to avoid hand-washing dishes, as though the dirty dishes would suddenly disappear, or get up and wash themselves, or something. And then, one day, my whole life changed! I know that sounds a little hyperbolic, but that's the only way I can describe what happened....I was browsing on Amazon [having totally abandoned that sink full of dishes, of course] and this wonderous invention appeared in my You-May-Also-Like thread. I was actually browsing for something completely unrelated, by the way. As soon as I saw it, my jaw fell to the floor. Phrases like "Why didn't I know about this?" and "Where has this been all my life?" came to mind. A portable dishwasher--who knew!!! The company that makes this just got a little bit richer, because that day, I hit Add-To-Cart immediately. But I consider myself a savvy shopper, so I made sure to read the reviews, the good ones and the bad ones, before I took that proverbial leap-of-faith. When it was delivered and I unwrapped it, it had condensation inside. DO NOT PANIC about that; it's supposed to come that way, as the manufacturer runs each machine through a full cycle for quality assurance just before shipping it out. I make a point to mention this, because some of the negative reviews were complaining about this, as though it were some kind of problem. In fact, the manufacturer has a video of this very process posted right here on Amazon. So, give it a watch. Now you can set it up to operate in one of two configurations. You can connect the dishwasher directly to your kitchen plumbing, or you can simply fill it with water manually by pouring water into it's top opening. Personally, I do it manually, since I live in a rental and I don't want to tamper with the plumbing, and I am definitely NOT a plumber, either. It uses only about 1.5 to 2 gallons of water for a complete load wash and rinse, as opposed to the nearly 10 gallons of water needed to hand-wash dishes in the sink. [Yes, I did compare water usage.] The dishwasher has several speed settings as well. I won't go too deep into that; it's in the user manual. But I will say this. I can confirm and attest that the dishwasher does also clean small pots and pans and skillets, as well as dishware and utensils. I mention this specifically, because I did not see anything about whether or not pots and pans and skillets could be cleaned. If it will fit inside the machine [even at an angle] the dishwasher will function. Then, I kinda went on a crazy cleaning blitz, and washed all sorts of things in there: All of those reusable plastic take-out containers I had accumulated; I took down the glass enclosure from the ceiling fan lights; the light bulb covers from the kitchen, bathroom, front and back porch; I even disassembled the chandelier and washed the glass pieces in this dishwasher. All came out bright and sparkly like brand new! Even the grease catchers from my electric stove burners came out clean! As for which type of soap to use, DO NOT use regular dish soap for hand-washing dishes, under any circumstances, as the resulting bubble-action will cause a malfunction. I cannot emphasize this more strongly [I learned this the hard way]. You MUST use dishwasher gel designed for use in dishwashers. I know that there are powders and even pods designed for dishwashers, but I have found out [from my year-long experience] that dishwasher gel is the most effective by far. So, think "Cascade" not "Dawn". When in use, the dishwasher itself is totally silent. All you will hear is the gentle sloshing sound of the water as the dishes are being washed. Personally, the sloshing sound is quite soothing to me; I have actually fallen to sleep listening to it several times. Imagine the sound that water makes when you are slowly rowing a boat on a calm lake. OMG! I didn't realize that I had written a book here; maybe it was the soothing sounds of my dishes now being washed for me that has allowed the words to come flowing! Well, my dishes are done. Oh, PS and by the way, It dries the dishes spotless, too! Enjoy!

Awesome dishwasher. I really needed something for our apartment because I was sick of doing dishes. I like this one because it fits a decent plate size, some of the others were a bit smaller. I'm surprised at how well this washes dishes and how much you can actually fit in there. Keep in mind it is a countertop dishwasher not a full size dishwasher, we can easily wash dishes for two people. I prefer to use tablet dishwasher soap as I just think it does a lot better job and doesn't leave any film like some of the other ones. I do not have this hooked up to the sink I use the feature that you pour the water in the top and I actually bought a 5 gallon jug for it to drain into and I love it. One feature that people don't seem to know how to use is the dry function. When you run a load it'll automatically dry regardless if you hit the dry button. You can stop the dry if that's not something you want done but if you actually hit the dry button, it will run the regular load and then dry the dishes after and then it will have the letter b on their meaning that it'll circulate fresh air for 73 hours. This is if you were actually storing your dishes or weren't home to take them out right away. I saw someone's review that said it was stuck on 6 minutes but that was actually the b for the fresh air function. Love all the features of this and would definitely recommend. Was very pleasantly surprised with this and great customer service.

This has been the best purchase I have ever made in my life. I’ve never owned a dishwasher before and have always washed my dishes by hand in a tiny sink. As an autistic single parent, the sensory overwhelm often led to meltdowns. Since I can't fit a standard-sized dishwasher in my house, buying this one has been a game changer. Granted, it doesn't hold a lot—especially for a family of three that cooks frequently—so we run it 2-4 times a day. It can't accommodate big pots and pans, but even having it wash a portion of the dishes means I have significantly less to do by hand, which makes it entirely worth it. I recommended it to a friend of mine who is also autistic and a parent, and she was struggling with the same issue of feeling overwhelmed by dirty dishes. She feels the same way; it’s been a game changer for her, too. Since getting this dishwasher, we’ve had so much more time to relax with our kids and spend quality time with loved ones. If you really enjoy washing dishes, then this probably isn’t for you. But if you often feel overwhelmed by dirty dishes and can’t fit a large dishwasher—or if you're just one person—then this is perfect for you! **Pros:** - It washes my dishes for me. **Cons:** - It doesn’t drive my kids to school or make my coffee, but I haven’t found any dishwasher that can do that!

5 Stars - Excellent little dishwasher, perfect for small spaces! I am very happy with the Hermitlux mini dishwasher! It’s compact, easy to set up, and works surprisingly well for its size. It cleans dishes, glasses, and cutlery perfectly, and the different wash settings are very useful. It’s quiet, efficient, and saves a lot of time, especially for a smaller household. Perfect for anyone with limited space or who doesn’t want a full-size dishwasher. Great value for money — highly recommend!
