This will probably be a lengthier review than I would normally commit to, but I hope it helps somebody. Read on to find out what you need to know before getting this or any above ground pool. I ordered the 24ft by 12ft Intex Ultra for the family. It was a decent price, but a little scary for the budget minded do it yourselfer. I researched, and priced some hard sided above ground pools, and man are they expensive! A company here in Arkansas wanted $10,000.00 dollars for a 24ft round above ground pool. I had to provide a dump truck full of sand and have electric hooked up to the area for filters, but for that price it came with the sand filter, and tools plus chemicals. Still, THATS ALOT OF MONEY FOR AN ABOVE GROUND POOL! I had a 12ft easy set big blue thing a few years ago and learned some things about setting up a pool that helped me with this one. This is what you really need to know!!! What you pay for this pool will not be the price in the end meaning that there will be costs associated with ground leveling, etc... The Intex Ultra is an excellent pool, and I believe, a good value for what you get. I bought the package with the pool and sand filter. (You must have a sand filter or your pool will suck.) Paper filters are junk and all you do is change them. Dont do it. This one comes with a nice sand filter! Next you need to know that when setting up a pool this size that a level surface is key! It is an absolute! DO NOT set these pools up with one side higher than the other. The pool will sag on the sides and will eventually implode. I have a gravel area in my back yard where I put this pool. I built a 1x4 treated lumber frame 28ft by 18ft and leved the frame with a string and a line level (clips to the string). Then I raked out the gravel until it was as close to level as I could get it (it was within a quarter of an inch everywhere inside the frame. Then I bought 1 inch thick foam board insulation at the home improvement store. They sell it in 4ft by 8ft sheets like plywood. I put that down on the gravel inside the frame and taped all of the seams with gorilla tape. (Note... if a rock gets under your pool liner it will eventually create a hole.) So the foam board gives your pool floor a nice cushy feel and protection from whatever lurks underneath. The setup of the pool was pretth simple, but it was hard work in the hot sun. My Wife and I put it up with no issues. The instructions are good and they explain everything well. We put a 12x12 inch paver under each leg as recommended by the manufacturer. The legs would sink into the ground, foam, sand or whatever if you do not do this. It is important! After that we began to fill the pool. We set up the filter, and eight hours later we were swimming! This pool is a nice pool. It is sturdy, affordable, and big enough to allow for swimming and fun. Small rinky dink pools always seem to be a dissapointment, but it depends on the room you have. These are the notes to remember with this or any above ground pool. Your area must be level! Your foundation must protect the liner. (Any rocks, sticks, roots, etc... will eventually pierce the liner no matter how good it is.) This pool comes with a "ground cloth" we put this over our foam floor, but it is simply a tarp. It has very little protection value. You must place blocks under the legs of the pool to keep it from sinking. The 24'x12' pool that I bought hold 8,500 gallons of water. That is over 4 tons of weight! The legs will sink if they do not have a proper foundation. I hope this helps someone looking to invest in some family fun. I plan on encasing this pool with treated wood to make it a more permanent feature at our home. Good luck!

I absolutely love it! It took my kids 2 days for us to set up together. I had an area of pavers that I removed and I ended up putting about thirty bags of sand down, I bought exercise padded mats to put down over the sand and then, put the liner of the pool down over the mats and built the pool. The poles are on heavy pavers that I lined around the frame of the pool. Made a nice addition and holds the poles great! It is a bit off on one end but at the end of the season I will add more sand under the pool after draining it for winter. It was pretty easy to set up, the directions were ok, but that could of been my kids and I losing it trying to get it together lol. The sand pump left me a bit confused but I ended up getting it working in the end. The ladder is the worst ever, not steady and a hazard itself. BUT .... the pool is amazing. I ended up getting a salt addition to the filter and my pool is crystal clear with no issues at all!!! It did bow in as others when filling, but that is to be expected so don't freak out. When it fill completely it will even out. Now to build some wood steps to go up and then another ladder in the pool. Delivery was very good, took about a week and the texted me info then set a time frame the day of. The guy even took it into the backyard for us. I was really grateful at that, else we would of had to do piece by piece. I am so happy about this purchase. When we were building itI had doubts lol but after getting in it and just that relaxation feeling....it was 200% worth it. I hope it lasts for many yrs! I did buy lights for it at night, an attachment skimmer that goes on the intake valve. I was going to go for the cover that someone else sells, but my table with the patio umbrella works fine for shade. OH... Another thing.... it stays hot.. even at the bottom. I was expecting freezing water when we got in.... nope! We had a lil 10ftx30in pool that was always freezing when we got in... not this! It is really nice!!! I was not expecting that at all.

Pool liner is very thick and strong. Assembly was easy, but took longer than expected due to weight of the line, and handling and unwrapping plastic off of so many parts. Customers should know that delivery will take extra days since the package weight is over 450lbs, shipped via semi/box truck on a pallet.

Instructions are very basic but there are many good videos online. It takes an hour to remove all packaging and then 2 hours to set up, 14 hours to fill by hose. We did it with 2 adults no problem but a 3rd would be better. Surprised at the quality of the pump and general components and it has been great to have. The ladder is not very strong and I am 205 pounds and it twists and flexes but does still hold me. The only thing I think they could do better is provide a better ground sheet. I levelled the area and raked all the rocks and debris out, then picked all small bits out by hand, and I even laid out the cardboard packaging down and taped the seams, then groundsheet then set up the pool on it and you can feel the odd rock. I think if you just set it up on grass quickly you might get holes from standing on rocks over time. A thick groundsheet would be very helpful!

The pool is really wonderful and what I expected it to be. The ladder does not feel as safe as I would like. We are looking at using some ‘caps’ to cover the base of the ladder o. The outside and screwing them into the cement walkway next to the pool to help stabilize.

The swimming pool was completely destroyed yesterday due to water pressure. A large amount of water leaked from the pool. Fortunately, no one was injured and the house was damaged. We only used it for one year plus four months. It is still in the two-year maintenance period, but we dare not use it again. Pool, we don't give back our replacement, we ask for a refund. Email for more photos. Reported this last night and still have not heard back. The dealer "V prime" don't follow up the two-year warranty, just said can't help. We sent messages to Index one day, still waiting their reaction. Update:- The two-year warranty period of this manufacturer is a joke. They ask to send the damaged metal bracket from the west coast of Canada to the east coast. The UPS quote is CAD400. And light, the shipping cost is much lower, and the metal bracket is replaced by a photo, because it has been proved that the damaged part, so the manufacturer is sincere to solve the problem, this method is more reasonable, but it is not accepted, we decided not to lose any unreasonable The cost of the car in exchange for its irresponsible two-year warranty.
