Fantastic product. I struggled with wifi security cameras for 3 years monitoring 3 commercial buildings. Constant dropped feeds and unreliable connections. I discovered an old (30 years!) phone cable that once connected the structures. This inexpensive device used it to connect my 4K IP cameras flawlessly. And this over just a vintage pair of wires. No setup - it just works! So happy.

I updated my review from a 1 to a 4. The seller reached out to me for clarification. This was attempted emailed to you Feb 12th... Hello I have installed your device with a IP camera and a NVR and approximately 600 ft 18 gauge to conduct a wire between devices. The P light is steady both sides... the S-LAN light is steady on both sides... however, the LAN light is on and steady at the NVR side but does not come on at the camera side. I reversed the devices and the same thing happened. I decided to put a Poe switch at the camera side then the LAN started working and then the camera worked. However, this is not going to work for my needs as I am installing this in an elevator and based on the information about your product it is supposed to work via 2 conductor as long as both units are powered up at each side without having to put additional Poe to the device. Please advise.

Click to play video The instructions in this kit are for the coaxial cable version of this product. If you deal with virtual dsl devices, then no problem. If you are new to this stuff, then it is a frustration. With that said, the setup is easy. For short runs, under 300m, you can use two wire (1 pair) hookup. I found best results keep the polarity straight through with no bridging or filtering devices in the run. I mention this as you can use old telco wiring to move ethernet in existing settings, but check all junctions to see if there are any noise filters or lightening protections along the way left over from the telco use. The connecting pair needs to be dry (no other electrical signals present, e.g. no piggybacking on an active analog phone line). I did my testing on 22 awg parallel lead cable which is inferior to twisted pair, but I wanted a proof of concept under poor conditions. I was able to get consistently over 78 Mbps down and 7.5 Mbps up under best condtions which suggests simple asymmetric transmission. Under tougher conditions I saw traffic in the range of 35 Mbps down and 4 Mbps up. For longer runs, over 300m, you will need all 4 pairs of a cable run and rj45 terminations / patch cords. The 300 meter simple pair range will be impacted by surrounding electrical noise and the quality of the wire and any intervening connections. You can also use the 500m 4 pair connection on shorter runs if you need a better signal / capacity in an electrically noisy area. Once the interlink wiring is done, all you need to do is add a LAN connection on each end (to the LAN ports as marked) and then power up. The units auto-negotiate so there is no CO/CPE designation to deal with. There are no field settings to make. The cases are metal and will mount to a backboard/panel easily. I included a video with the LEDs doing their thing under working conditions while connected as the included writeen instructions do not match 100% as far as what should be solid, what should blink, and when. However, if you need ethernet connectivity at a long range or in an area that is hard to pull a cable into, you can re-purpose almost any two dry leads and deploy ethernet with these extenders, and once in the rempote area, these will support the addition of a downstream switch or router to which other devices can be connected to share the one port back at the head-end of distribution. You can connect beyond the standard 100 meter ethernet run and gain distance. You can improvise, and re-purpose an old phone cable, even cat3 does a good job moving the signal along. You can re-purpose a length of coax cable, if it is a home-run, that used to service an analog camera. With a little luck, you could get some good range out of two lead bell wire from an old alarm circuit or abandoned thermostat. In a pinch, these provide great utility. I looked at what I think is the manufacturer website, and found this product but no downloads for any other manuals. In case you are new to these types of devices, also keep in mind during your build plan that PoE will not pass along between extenders, so you are only doing data.

It loses some signal over 100 yards but is an excellent solution if no other choice is available.

i had a security camera way out by the gate, and running ethernet that far was a pain. the signal was weak. these extenders fixed the issue. now, i can run the cable over 500 feet, and the picture is perfect. i simply plugged them in, and that was it. there was no setup or configuration required. they are small, too. they have been working great for months. i have no problems at all.
