4 year review!! Okay so I use this every single day. I listen to loud white nose when I fall asleep. This speaker has been amazing since day 1. I am now at the point where it needs to be plugged in all the time or it will disconnect randomly from blue tooth. Battery still lasts quite a while and Iโ€™ve used it as an emergency power bank during hurricanes several times. Goes with me everywhere I travel. Has been used as my main source of audio when I have had cars without sound systems. For its age and the price, very hard to beat. Only complaint is the glowing blue light on the power button is annoying at night but thatโ€™s it. Planning on buying again when this one stops working completely. Might take another year or two.

I have owned many Bluetooth radios through the years. Bose,Klipsch,Altec Lansing. The Bose is great had a internal baterry, it is light, the battery lasted a few hours but the bass was lacking and in a beach if you wanted to blast it it didnโ€™t go i high I wanted to. The Klipsch sound great when I had plugged in with the charger but when I took it to the beach or outside the volume decreased way to low for my liking. The Altec Lansing has great bass and sounded really good at high volume but I had to buy constantly 8 D cell batteries which was way impractical. This JBL Boombox is wonderful the best Bluetooth radio I have ever bought. I tried it in my house with the charger connect to it and the bass was incredible love to see the side woofers moving when playing a song and only had it like 50% of the volume because it was blasting. So I thought to myself hopefully it passes my outside torture. I took it to the beach and was floored on how amazing this boombox sounded. The Bass was impactful you can fill it in your chest if you are close enough. The back bottom works increรญble you can change the settings for inside or outside listening( you can tell the bass sound better on this setting if you are outside). My friends where Very impressed on how loud and clean it sounded it had no distortion no matter how loud we force it to. I donโ€™t have to worry on D cell batteries anymore. On a full charge I had playing for 6-7 hours and of the 5 lights that it had when it was fully charged it finished with 3 lights on. So i do believe it can go for 24 hours playing None stop. I even charged my phone and my friends phones while we where in the beach, so now I donโ€™t have to Bring my external battery charger this works great for charging many phones while you listen to music. One less thing I have to worry about is when it rains this is waterproof Iโ€™ve seen many videos on YouTube of people throwing the JBL boombox to a pool and it was still working. Now Iโ€™m not planing to do this, but what I want to do is get one of those floating things to put my ice , cups whisky or beer and have the JBL boombox on top of that and have a party on the water at the beach. A cool thing that JBL Speakers do is that they can be link together and play at the same time. So if your friends have more JBL speakers you can have a party. One thing to note this thing is heavy. But since imma hometheater buff I know that good quality woofers and magnets are heavy. So if you want to get great bass and loud spl with no distortion this is the way to go. If you find it to heavy try out the one that comes before this one i believe is the JBL extreme( not sure) but if you want to get the best bass, loud clean with no distortion, increรญble battery durability for those long outside Beach parties this is the way to go.

Pretty sweet. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘ When they say built like a tank they weren't kidding. Solid construction has a little weight to it. Quality materials and build. Button press is good backdoor flap is tight no worries about it accidentally getting open. Nice handle with rubberized texture on the bottom. Sound quality is NICE. Clear crisp with loads of bass. It sounds good. Here's something interesting though. I put it in LFM and it sounded like the bass got turned down. ๐Ÿค” its suppose to be the other way around. The highs are crisp the mids are clear and the bass is thumpy and boomy depending on what you're listening too and the volume you're at. It's good. Plenty loud indoors and loud enough outdoors as long as you're within a sensible distance. The bluetooth connects quick n easy to my phone but is having difficulty with my BT transmitter. ๐Ÿค” Battery charging takes a few hours. The one thing I am worried about in a portable is the exposed radiators. May rig some speaker grills. Is this worth $450? ... Its a steep price. I think $300 is a better price point. This whole thing is waterproof it floats and it has a long battery life. ๐Ÿ˜Ž I like it and if they come out with a Boombox 2 that's a little bigger n better I'm all over it as long as the price isn't to sky high. So for around the price of a GoPro this is a sweet speaker. May pick up another bc you can hook up 100 of them with the connect + ๐Ÿ˜ฏ That's another thing other boomboxes can't do and from what I have seen it sounds even better when there are multiple units connected. And if you want deeper bass out of this thing put it in low frequency mode. ๐Ÿคซ Just make sure you dont go to high on the volume ๐Ÿ˜‰ or you'll blow the speakers. UPDATE: So good I got another one. Decided to get the green one. They connect plus easily and fast. Sounds great. Green looks good but looks a little more plasticky ๐Ÿค”. It's not as elegant looking at others have said. Still good though but I think the black probably looks best. At least I can differentiate between the two instead of having the same color. ๐Ÿ˜

Okay so first of all, I've read a ton of different comments for this thing. What everyone fails do is use a measure of their claims. For instance I've heard people say that bass sucks on this - are you nuts? Are you comparing this to a car audio sub maybe? Others say it isn't loud... again are you comparing this to a 7.1 home theatre setup, or DJ speakers? So I want to clear the air here. First of all, about me... I am a bluetooth speaker junkie. I have owned every speaker out there from Bose, to Klipsch (KMC 1 and 3), Harman Kardon Onyx Studio, Brookstone Big Blue Party, Damson, Ecoxgear Boulder, JBL Flip4 & Extreme (Extreme has nothing on the Boombox, not even close), Bose Mirco, Sony XB everything, Monster, Mifa, Fugoo XL, etc... I listen to all of the bluetooth speakers in electronic stores and watch and read countless reviews. It's safe to say I've heard at least 97% of the speakers on the market to date. Second to this I am a basshead, not an audiophile, but a basshead who enjoys good sound with thumping bass. Audiophiles are too critical when there is strong bass presence... they like neutral sound. I run 1500 watts in my car to a competition sub and can easily be heard 3 blocks in any direction when going all out. That's my flavour in a 'nutshell' and should give you an idea of what floats my boat. So from here, I would like to say.. this thing is FRIGGEN insane! It is loud enough for most situations, except for maybe an outdoor dance party with 50+ people. Plenty loud enough for backyard gatherings, BBQ's, indoor dance parties, beach, river tubing, etc. On max volume, it is too loud to allow conversations anywhere within a 20 ft radius. Inside, this thing thumps, put it in a corner of your room and it produces bass low enough that it sounds like a home audio sub - it is definitely the closest thing to sub bass you will ever get from a bluetooth speaker. The wife loves the sound of it too, but thinks it is too loud and gets mad at me often as I use this in the basement while working out and she complains that it rumbles the floor and pictures on the wall which means to me it's perfect. It is super crisp and clear even at max volume. This speaker outdoes every other bluetooth speaker I've ever owned in both sound and overall loudness. The only one that goes louder and only by slightly (next to impossible for the average ear to notice) is the EcoBoulder but it is 100 watts and super distorted at these volumes and sounds like sh*t - the Boombox also has way cleaner sound and way deeper bass. I think what makes the ecoboulder louder is the treble, it's too much that it makes your face scrunch up at the distorted levels, so the JBL still gets the W here. I have also heard people say things about it like the mids suck. While I agree that the mids aren't entirely present, the highs and bass on it are so crisp and clean, that you'll not even notice it - I promise. You can also just use an EQ from your phone and change the sound to your preference. I only noticed the mids when I compared side by side with the Klipsch KMC 3, again though like others, this speaker cannot beat the JBL in overall loudness and clarity. The Klipsch used to be my favourite speaker until I bought the JBL. If you listen to like classical or whatever then buy whatever speaker out there as bass doesn't much matter for these types of music genres. You would still likely be pleased by the clarity of it though. But if you're like me and listen to bass heavy hip hop, EDM, rap, and occasionally top 40, you'll love this thing. Not a speaker out there in this size, portability, ruggedness and price bracket that can compete - I GUARANTEE IT! The sound signature just makes me smile every single time. Some people have said it is heavy, well I'm sorry but if you think this thing is heavy, you need to hit a gym and stop being a wuss. It is the perfect weight and as another reviewer mentioned, the size and weight is 'the goldilocks' and I gotta agree! One more thing to note, it sounded amazing when I first got it out the box. But 2 weeks after letting er' rip something even more amazing happened... The speakers finally broke in and the bass became even nuttier. It fills the room with such nice bass, you do not need to be sitting near it like most bluetooth speakers where the bass fades as you take a few steps away from it. I also saw someone say that the signal kept cutting out from the bluetooth signal. I have had this happen but it is an issue with your phone not the unit itself. I simply restarted my phone and it hasn't happened since. I am using an LG V30. SO if you want awesome bass... crazy battery, waterproof, loud, etc; buy this thing, do not even hesitate on it. Worth every single penny, I've never been happier. I will agree with other reviews that it sounds best at about 75% in my opinion, but even at max it's not distorted or anything, it just sounds less amazing than it does at 75% due to processing. One more thing about DSP (Digital Signal Processing), the JBL is the first bluetooth speaker I've owned where the bass is actually still present at max volumes. Most bluetooth speakers, the DSP is such a way that bass is nullified at max volumes to allow for less distortion... The JBL does not give a F about that, it thumps always. Lastly about the bass, it is not a boosted fake bass, it is a true 40Hz low reaching bass that can not only be heard but felt in your chest. Another interesting thing is that it is only 40 watts, but I would say a true 40 watts, and anyone who knows anything about speakers might think this is a low number like I did, but it is insane how they got such a powerful room filling sound from 40 watts. If you plug it into the wall, you get 60 watts of power as is running off 120 volts and allows more power to be produced than just running off the battery alone. That extra 50% of power is really noticeable, it gets very loud if plugged into the wall and still holds together very well, no distortion. So going back to comparing to other speakers, the JBL beats all the above mentioned speakers running off just battery. If you plug it into the wall, it doesn't just beat them, it CRUSHES them and eats em up for breakfast. The battery on it is also amazing I listen to it everyday (from 20 mins while showering to hours when working out and puttering around the house) at all different volumes and have charged it twice I think in the month I've owned it. I bought the green version of this as it was cheaper and have come to love the colour actually - we call it the green terd and anytime I bring this bad boy out, people always ask about it, and say how amazing the sound quality is. It's just a truly bad ass speaker - JBL hit a home run with this one. So stop reading, click add to cart and BUY THIS THING ALREADY and quit p*ssy footing it! PS- I do not work for JBL, nor am I associated with them in anyway- I bought this with my own money and just wanted to leave a thorough review for anyone contemplating the purchase. I want it to bring you as big of a smile that it does to me every single damn day.
