I have a few of these now and I couldn't be happier with them. They are small and take up just one space on a two connection outlet so I can still plug in something else with no problem. The Kasa App is easy to use too and I have no complaints with it. In the App tap on the device to open it and then I can see the power usage now and over time, run time, schedule on and off times for the plug and then a settings gear where I can change the name of the plug and add my own picture from my camera roll or from the camera itself. It also has device information. It has a grouping feature that I have never played with. One thing to note on setup. When setting up a new plug it asks you to connect to the device WiFi in the the phone settings. On the iPhone, after the device connects, I get a popup at the top of the screen that says I'm connected and if I tap on this popup to go back to the App it has always failed to connect to my network after that and I don't know why. The way I have success is after I connect to the device I exit settings and open the Kasa App again and continue from there. I have always had success with connecting to my home network this way as I continue setup of the plug. For me I'm using these inside the house to control night lights on a timer and an "away light" for security while we aren't home. I have one plug that amazingly can connect to my WiFi about 200 feet away at my garage to control a security light mounted on the outside. I also have three plugs in a little solar shed about 60 feet away from the house that are on all the time to tell me how much power my solar panels are producing. This is why I like these plugs so much. They just work and work well.

I love these plugs they go along with my echo dots. I have them in a bunch of plugs and they come in most handy when I’m not home so I can turn on lights or whatever. I like to turn lights on when I’m not home just so my house isn’t dark too because I have cats in my house and I don’t like them to be in the dark. It’s really helpful, especially when I’m away for the night visiting my daughter, and then I can turn the lights on, and then they turn themselves on by dusk and off by dawn. Extremely easy setup, very reliable and a sense of security. You can use them on everything or anything, but they have to be connected Alexa echo dot.

Summary: Reviewing three similar Kasa (TP-Link) smart plugs. After my initial review of the HS103P2, I found the KP115 with Energy Monitoring, so ordered that one too. Also ordered the outdoor version. Observations (construction): Like most modern manufactured items, this one is a snap together setup. The construction is decent. The relay is a 200V and 16A version, and should be able to pass full power (1875W for a 15A circuit). Recommendation: The newer model plug is KP115, released in Oct 2020; whereas the older model is HS103P2, released in March 2018. The newer plugs are more expensive, but I would pay the extra cost for the energy monitoring feature if needed. Software Setup: After downloading the app (iPhone), setup was straight forward. It appears to only connect to a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network; however, with my phone on the 5GHz network, I was still able to control the device. Generally 2.4GHz has better range, and 5GHz has better bandwidth, so 2.4Ghz is the appropriate band for this device (and most IoT devices). Upon completion of setup, the app offered to update the firmware (which completed in less than 5 minutes). Setup was the same for both (the outdoor didn't need a firmware update). Software Observations: Biggest disappointment with the Energy Monitor plugs is that the energy usage cannot be reset with the Kasa app. After doing some internet research, found that if you're on iOS, search for "Watt for Smart Devices" app in the Apple Store, it allows you to reset the energy usage. The Kasa app works okay. I do wish they had a lock out feature, making it a two step process to turn off power, which would be very important on a device like a computer. Pros: simple setup; firmware updates. Cons: energy usage not resetable via the Kasa app. Conclusion: At $22 for the KP115, rating this 4-stars (software deficiency, energy usage reset). I also ordered a two-outlet Outdoor plug (listed below), which I am rating 5-stars, and the older HS103P2 at 3-stars (one DOA). These are absolutely great, and out of all sorts of smart home products, the only ones you need are these plugs and the Kasa HS300 power strips.

Solicité 2 plugs y 1 no funcionaba( no conectaba a la red) . Solicité el reemplazo del mismo, fue muy rápido y sin problemas. Así mismo, los plugs funcionan excelente y sin configuraciones complicadas.

I was looking for a smart plug that can be integrated with my Home Assistant system, so I can control my Rotel amplifier when the TV is on/off. This item (KP115 KASA SMART WI-FI PLUG) fits the bill since it has the energy monitoring feature. Make sure you still have the 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi otherwise it dose not work for 5 Ghz.
