I was checking this out for my Father-in-Law as a Christmas gift. I was surprised at the wide range of topics in the book. There’s even a linguistics chapter that covers the origins of common phrases and multiple short sections on the Roman Empire. The illustrations were really cute too! Pleasantly surprised.

I belong to a few groups that do a "Dirty Santa" gift exchange where each person brings a wrapped gift. Then we all draw a number and go in that order to either open a new gift or "steal" an already-opened one from another player. If a gift is stolen, the person whose gift was stolen chooses another gift to unwrap or steal. In our group, a gift can be stolen a maximum of three times. I always worry that I will bring a gift that no one wants. I brought this book as my Dirty Santa gift and it was so popular it was stolen three times!
